What our customers say about their holidays

We arrived in the pitch black and it was a scary drive to the house (tiny roads) but so worth it.
The first thing we found was biscuits, tea, coffee, milk and what a GODSEND that was! Thank you!! I was never so happy until I saw them. The house is beautiful and clean with four poster beds, jacuzzi for about 6, lovely conservatory, dining room with real fire, sitting room with fake fire (which sadly didnât work when we were there) and well-equipped farm kitchen. Linens and towels and some soaps and toilet rolls provided. Only one bedroom has en-suite with bath but there were 3 other shared bathrooms and the one I used had the best shower ever - so powerful. All the beds were comfy (everyone said so!) with fresh linen sheets and very plumped up pillows. More than enough for everyone. We had to use some initiative to work out the central heating as no instructions. Basically, the thermostat is upstairs, left down the long corridor and next to the furthest upstairs bedroom. Once that was spotted, we were toasty and warm. The electric fire needed instructions - using iPhones to photograph the back of the fire told us it was a Dimplex Oakhurst so we looked up instructions on the internet but as the lights didnât work, we contacted The caretaker who suggested we didnât use it. We didnât miss it though and preferred the real fire anyway which was well stocked with wood and fire lighters. The Sâmores we cooked by the fire with the children were delicious. The Wi-Fi and instructions were clear and good info in a sheet about rubbish and toilets. The Jacuzzi was amazing! So hot when I first got in and easily took 5 of us. Again, some instructions on use would be helpful but we worked it out (ish) with experimentation. The view from the tub is AMAZING - right over the valley to the hills opposite - we felt like kings. One touch the house owners might like to add to make it perfect would be some fairy lights on the patio and leading to the jacuzzi for evening sessions with just adults. It was a lovely stay and we really enjoyed it. A few niggles but excellent on the whole.

Stayed in November for my 70th birthday.
There were 6 adults, a 20 month old baby and small dog; and we all had plenty of room. Little Picket met all our expectations in most areas and exceeded them in others. The welcome pack was a lovely surprise and very thoughtful. Access was easy using the codes provided. The bedrooms are all to a high standard and comfortable although the plumbing can be a little "quirky". The cot and highchair were supplied as promised along with a good quality stairgate. We didn't use the open fires although logs were provided and the central heating kept the house warm throughout our stay. The games room was brilliant, with lots to do and we used the tennis court everyday along with the basketball hoop. We were very grateful to see that the leaves were cleared from the tennis court regularly, a small point but a very thoughtful consideration. We had intended to do more walks but spent a lot more time on the tennis court instead! The kitchen was well equipped although we didn't use the Aga. It would have been helpful to have an instruction booklet for the induction oven but we did work it out eventually. Access was easy and Nicholas was on hand and very prompt in answering any queries we had. Nicholas is an excellent host. There is a lovely walk behind the cottage and we were not far from other walks; and Ringwood is only a short drive away. The only minor improvements (and they are minor) would be a bit more information in the accommodation booklet regarding the oven and where to dispose of the rubbish; and an OS map (although there were several booklets on recommended walks). A full set of matching wine glasses would be a good addition. The downstairs toilet seat needs repair. We would consider staying here again; it is perfect for a multi-generational family (and dog).

Clynnog House, in my opinion, is a first class holiday retreat.
Weâre a family of 6 adults, 2 two year old toddlers and a dog. The original house and attached barn conversion was perfect, with each of the three sub families, afforded their own space within the sprawling complex. The centrally located kitchen, with itâs bifold doors along both sides, is very well equipped with everything you need to conjure up a feast, fit for a king. Alternatively, thereâs ample fridge/freezer capacity to take meals ready to go. Bathrooms are plentiful and again suit the privacy needs of a multi family, family gathering. Continuing the theme outside, the two outdoor areas (accessed via the kitchen bifold doors) consist of a smallish enclosed gated courtyard, leading to ample parking for 3/4 vehicles and the large main, well tended gardens, with exceptional views out across the open countryside and beyond, to the to the Welsh Mountains. Location wise, Clynnog House is just a mile or so from the outstanding Newborough National Nature Reserve. A fabulous forest, which breaks out onto what has to be one of the finest beaches in the country. I guess nowhere on Anglesey is more than 45 mins away and youâre back on the mainland within 20 mins. My only complaint; How do you work the TV in the back lounge? Not that we go on holiday to watch the TV but with England vs Spain playing out Euro final the week of our visit, our lack of knowledge resulted in a frantic 10 mins trying to fire it up before aborting our efforts and watching in the other lounge. Which, for such an event, was too close to where one of the toddlers was trying to sleep.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 7 day stay at Clynnog House.
We loved the layout of the house, especially the kitchen and the snug. It was very welcoming and matched the description and photos. The children loved running around and exploring the house. And was lovely to be greeted by rabbits in the garden each morning. I did find it initially difficult to find the key box on the day of arrival, as it was partially hidden from view by the downpipe from the gutter, but a quick call to the caretaker set me straight. One of the few negatives was the amount of flies, bluebottles, and other flying insects that greeted us in the house. And the kitchen island was crawling with ants. We managed to get rid of them, but meant that we weren't able to keep the doors or windows open, otherwise we would've been inundated again. Also the kettle was extremely dirty inside, so we had to go out and purchase our own kettle. But otherwise the house was fantastic, and all the bed rooms were lovely and exactly as described. Though one of the double bedrooms had too small a mattress for the bed frame. Note that only a single roll of toilet paper is supplied for each bathroom/on-suite, so remember to bring your own. We did thoroughly enjoy our stay here, and wouldn't hesitate to come back. We were pleasantly surprised that the house had full fibre broadband 300Mbps. There was a smart tv in the living room with your YouTube, Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video Apps available (you'll need your own accounts of course). But the TV in the snug wasn't a Smart TV. It is a very nice and lovely house. And I recommend with out hesitation.

It is a lovely house in a large garden with amazing views.
But our holiday was badly affected by the noise (drilling, banging), intrusion (workmen on scaffolding overlooking the garden) and dust from building work next to the property. We were very disappointed to receive no prior warning of this work, no apology from Sykes (or the owner) during or after our visit and no offer of compensation. The house is very well equipped and the large kitchen dining area is great for a large family. The bi-fold doors are really useful when the weather allows. The bedrooms are a good size as were the showers and bathrooms. Whilst the house appeared to be clean on arrival that was superficial in places. One of the downstairs showers had dog hair in it and under the bed. In addition, the shower didnât drain very well and as a consequence was smelly. In other rooms the skirting boards and window sills were dusty. There is a private parking area outside the house but if you have more than three cars it gets a bit cramped as the entrance is quite tight. This was our first visit to this area and we really enjoyed the scenery, beaches and local attractions. However our enjoyment of the property was not so positive as were expecting idyllic and quiet surroundings. This was misleading and as a result our use and enjoyment of the garden was severely restricted.
