  1* This was my second visit to Gorwel as we really enjoyed the location but we won’t be returning in the future.

  We found dog feces on the kitchen table on arrival and quickly removed it due to the smell. We decided to inform the owner Bernard who was quick to tell us that there was no dog in the accommodation before us. I didn’t think for 1 minute a dog had done this. Someone had clearly walked in it then placed their footwear on the table. Easy mistake and an apology would have been sufficient. Unfortunately I didn’t take any photos in my haste to remove it so the owner didn’t believe me. He was extremely rude and suggested I contact Skye’s if I wanted compensation or alternative accommodation. Sykes were helpful in suggesting a deep clean and possibly compensation as we also found further discrepancies in the living area and the kitchen. Unfortunately the owner was not willing to apologise or accept the blame which we found quite shocking! I have never had to complain before and I expected a better response from the owner whom in my opinion was extremely rude! After removing the duvet covers I was even more horrified to see all the stains on the duvet. Absolutely disgusting! Sykes you should review this property again. A little bit more attention to detail could quite easily make this property a 4* but unfortunately the owner isn’t interested.

  Gorwel is exactly as described.

  The views from the living room are fantastic.We found the beds comfortable and our kitchen had everything we needed and more. The patio area is great and catches plenty of sun. It all made for a peaceful stay. Negatives - not Gorwel's fault but a Toyota Yaris parks constantly ( on double yellow lines !! ) adjacent to Gorwel's named parking bay making manouvering in and out really difficult. We did find the living room furniture low and very uncomfortable but that is subjective. A bigger problem is lack of Wi Fi. This is so universal these days that I hadn't even checked to see if it was available when making the booking. We are an older couple , not youngsters never off our smart phones , but it was still an issue for us and had I checked beforehand I would not have booked Gorwel. This is 2024 and some things are standard these days. Lastly ( and again not Gorwel's fault ) - the pub does not do food on Mon or Tues AND if it's quiet they don't bother on other days even though food is advertised for those days. The takeaways in the village a few miles away do not deliver.

  When we arrived at Gorwell first impressions were very good untill a little later and we found that the bathroom was poorly lit due to blown light bulbs.

  Also the heat from the shower and radiators were very low and was unable to have a decent showere and poor heating.we were instructed by the owners letter as to not interfere with the boiler. We also had a bad experience with the bedding as this had been put onto the beds not completely dry which made the beds stink,the only way to describe this it smelt like someone had “pissed on a hot radiator”,we washed the pillow cases and duvet covers but it smelt the same.although there was a washer drier,the drier did’nt heat to dry the bedding and a clothesline was’nt readily available,so at our own expense took these to a local laundry,also poor hygiene in the kitchen area, But despite all of this we got on and had a reasonable stay

  We really enjoyed our stay and exploring the area.

  The cottage location couldn’t be much better for the local amenities and the parking arrangements were convenient considering how close the property was to town. The living area and kitchen were great for our needs and aligned to expectations. The main bedroom was fine with plenty of storage albeit the wardrobe could appreciate a little maintenance. The main bedroom is on the front of the house but very quiet at night albeit a short walk from town. My friend was staying in the second bedroom so can’t really comment on this. The bathroom was functional but could benefit from updating in some areas particularly the sink area. Overall a great few days in a beautiful area and look forward to staying in the region again.

  This cottage was fantastic.

  It's in a great, quiet area, and with having two young children, the fact that it's a bungalow was great as we didn't have to worry about stairs. It was warm enough, well presented, and a very nice homey place to be. Not to mention dog friendly meaning we could bring our dog with us to join us on all of our day trips! The washing machine was great though the dryer not as great. Maybe we were using it wrong but ended up bringing our clothes to the launderette to dry them, but otherwise great! There was lots of equipment in the kitchen for making various meals and there was great communication from the owner too. Would recommend this place. We had a very happy holiday here.
