What our customers say about their holidays

A good house for a large group of people in a great location however there were a few minor irritations that with a bit of attention could have made so much difference.
2 of the bedrooms downstairs had little or no hanging space, why no hooks on doors then? Super king beds but king size bedding so nothing fitted. No information folder so when a light bulb blew and tripped the fuse for the lighting circuit downstairs we could not find the fuse box. Eventually managed to reach the help number provided the next morning. Apparently the fuse box is in the garage, with the key for that in the porch, no it wasnât, but another call informed us that a new key safe had been added in the car port so we were given the code for that and were able to sort the problem. No replacement bulbs though, or for the light fitting in the living room that had some missing. In the kitchen the bulbs above the sink are missing/ not working so difficult to wash up. One tiny sponge scourer left, one tea towel. Not really adequate for 10 people cooking every day for a week even with the dishwasher working overtime. It is difficult to know exactly what to expect in a house but other places we have stayed in have been far more comprehensively stocked. The shower cabinet in one room had a sliding door which was off the track and difficult to close as some of the runners had broken. This problem was notified to the number given but as we managed to get it back in the track enough to be able to just about close it nothing was done. Inside the cabinet there was black mould in the track which could only be seen from inside with the door closed so unlikely to be seen by the cleaner. No cleaning materials left so we were unable to clean it ourselves. We understand that the place is owned by a business rather than an individual owner which explained perhaps why it lacked personal touches. I hope this doesnât sound like finding fault for the sake of it but with a bit of care and attention it could be so much better.

Tucked away in the heart of Thurlestone, Amber Tide is the kind of place that instantly slows your pace and soothes the soul. From the moment we arrived, we knew this was going to be a stay to remember—where golden light dances across the terrace at dusk, sea air fills every breath, and the simple pleasures of good food, great company, and coastal adventures take centre stage. Mornings were spent meandering along the coastal path, where the endless blue of the horizon melted into the waves, and afternoons led us to hidden coves and sandy beaches, perfect for lazy strolls and paddles. As the sun began to dip, we gathered on the beautiful outdoor terrace, sharing stories over a feast of fresh seafood under the golden glow of a wonderful sunset, as laughter carried into the warm evening air. But perhaps our favourite moments were the movie nights, when we curled up in the snug lounge, a glass of wine in hand. Amber Tide is more than just a coastal retreat; it’s a sanctuary—where days are filled with adventure, nights with connection, and time slows just enough to make you savour every second. We can’t wait to return.

Sadly not up to standard for price.
Left very disappointed: I called FIVE times to have the master separated into singles â very rude management company and owner - STILL wasnât done when we arrived (despite advertising this feature). ALL beds should be replaced â VERY soft and uncomfortable. Property is tired and needs a revamp in particular the kitchen and bathrooms. Fridge is terrible â left 5 items in on first night â by morning they had not cooled. Rude owner told us we had overloaded it. Had to use pool fridge for majority of week â no one came to look despite requests. Toilet in en-suite broken â took half the week to be fixed â no apology or mention. THEN charged £75 for a 1cm rip in the pool cover that WAS NOT THERE WHEN WE LEFT. Pool manager even said everything was fine. Have received ZERO responses to my emails â just taken the money and walked. Owner clearly shouldnât be letting the property â Sykes you should ban him. Despite allure of a pool, avoid at all costs. There are much better properties to rent in Salcombe for the same or less money with much friendlier owners.

Stayed with partner and parents and our 2 dogs.
House isnât the easiest to find in the dark but place is spacious, clean and cosy. Couldnât fault the size of rooms and comfort of beds. Private pool was amazing for lazy afternoons in the house and separate living space upstairs was good to get away from the in laws, can imagine in summer itâs even more relaxing! Having pub next door was ideal for when we didnât want to cook, It was perfect location and the house was amazing for what we wanted. We would love to come back however couple issues that would put us off - biggest one and main reason we booked was because it states an âenclosed gardenâ. Thereâs no fence on one side and an open car port on other side and with no lighting on the grass area to keep an eye on them it resulted in our dog very nearly ending up on the very busy road and trying to clean up after them in the dark is impossible. Also a metal bucket for ashes from the log burner would prevent us near setting the place on fire. Fix these 2 things and weâd be back in a heartbeat!

We couldn’t have asked for a better setting than Moorings in Kingsbridge for our team retreat. From the moment we arrived, it was clear this was something special – sleek, stylish, and effortlessly welcoming. The balcony became our go-to spot – morning coffees watching the river gently shift with the tide, and golden-hour chats with glasses in hand, wrapped in soft throws as the sun slipped behind the hills. Having access to the gym was a real treat – the perfect way to clear our heads between sessions, especially after long lazy lunches at The Crabshell nearby. But the true highlight? The private chef. We were utterly spoiled with the most incredible supper – locally sourced, beautifully presented, and delicious beyond words. It felt like dining in our own private restaurant, but better. Every detail was considered, every moment a luxury. It wasn’t just a stay – it was an experience. We left feeling connected, inspired, and already planning our return.
