  Fantastic House to stay in. An absolutely beautiful house to stay in for my family Christmas. It had everything that we needed in order for our Christmas weekend to go wonderfully well. We stayed for a long weekend ages 9 months to 78 and there was enough space in the house for everyone to have their space and yet all be together.The hot tub was lovely - with some nice outdoor lighting, plastic glasses to use and separate towels for the tub, which you could sling in the tumble drier after use ready for the next time! The conservatory was a great place for breakfast with a more formal dining room - which was perfect for Christmas Day lunch. We had a lovely welcome pack as well, with wine, cheese, butter, bread etc. Such a lovely thing. The kitchen was well equipped. I was unsure what it would be like cooking a full on Christmas Dinner for 8 in a kitchen that I didn't know - would they have the pots and the pans etc - but they had everything I needed. I took some stuff with me just in case - but it was fine!The beds were super comfy, the pillows lovely and soft and the linen was lovely too. :)Great place to stay. 100% recommend.

  We felt that although the property was acceptable, considering the cost we would have at least expected a pint of milk, butter maybe some bread and some basic condiments (salt, pepper and oil) on arrival instead there was nothing, just a few Nescafé single serve sachets and sugar sticks. The oven was not very well cleaned and a milk frother still had old milk in it. Again related to the cost the kitchen pans were cheap/not very good quality, there was no provision of bath or shower gels supplied with one bathroom not having hand wash. Be went to use the bbq during our stay and half way through it was leaned on and almost fell over with hot coals and food on the top as one of the legs stopped short of the grounds by 2-3 inches making it very dangerous. The back door lock needs replacing as the key kept getting stuck. All first world problems but when your paying circa £400 per day these little items should be the basic requirements.

  Wyndham is a well proportioned, well equipped character holiday home. The 2 fridges, 2 ovens and 2 dishwashers made it very suitable for a big family Christmas, although remember to bring all basic consumable supplies with you. Or there's a co-op a few minutes walk away. Our family loved the cosy lounge with log burner, & spacious kitchen & dining room. Someone with limited mobility might find the stairs daunting.The bedrooms are roomy, although the showers are compact, and create condensation. Individual towel rails in each room worked well. We needed to contact the property manager about a heating timer issue; we found this service accessible and helpful. Parking directly outside is limited, but we were always able to park 1 car safely opposite the house.

  Fern Cottage was beautifully furnished, the decor was minimal and tasteful and the house was warm.

  We had good weather so we were also able to use the outside seating/garden area, which was a bonus. We had everything we would want. The house is in a good location for every location in Whitby. The only not criticism I would say which is not a criticism really is, please make the arrival time earlier and the exit time later on the property. Although, I phoned the owner who was extremely helpful and let us go in earlier than expected and also on leaving day we could leave our bags and had another half day in Whitby. Which was extremely good and helpful, we were so grateful. We will be booking this cottage again. If there was a lockup area where bags could be left as our transport from West Yorkshire was by minibus, this would also be very helpful.
