  The Gables is a beautiful properly in the perfect location!

  Right by the harbour, so close to the shops/ restaurants and the beach! We recently stayed with 2 adults, 4 children and 2 small dogs. There was plenty of room for everyone to sleep where they wanted (although typically most of the children wanted to share!) the entrance was welcoming with ample storage for coats/ shoes etc and even a double pushchair! We made use of the safety gate to keep the dogs/ younger children away from the stairs. The living room was comfortable and nicely furnished. The kitchen had everything we needed, the washing machine was very useful but we didn’t actually use the dishwasher due to mostly eating out. Three bathrooms was just perfect for 6 of us, 2 showers and a bath gave us lots of choice but we didn’t actually use the downstairs shower. I’d definitely recommend others to stay at the Gables. It’s a nice spacious accommodation in the perfect location, not too close to the hustle and bustle but close enough to avoid having to drive! My only negative would be the floors, we found them to be really dirty. Our children play on the floor lots and were so dirty just the first evening so my husband washed all the floors, the water was disgusting and had to be changed 5-6 times just for the kitchen/ living room, I feel like it hasn’t been mopped in a long time! But otherwise the bathrooms etc were clean. We only used a couple of mugs, bowls and some cutlery but found the mugs/ bowls etc were a bit dirty, but that could have been from previous guests. Otherwise we really liked the property, my children enjoyed the games and I liked that there was books too although I didn’t get chance to look at them! We felt safe within the courtyard when coming in, even late at night. The coded gates gave us extra reassurance and the area was generally very peaceful. The location was really practical for walking to the Nothe, to the harbour, the beach or going to the shops, we parked up our car when arriving and only needed to move it to drive to Portland and when going home! We also ordered a food shop whilst there and found this worked really well. We all felt very sad leaving the Gables! Weymouth is beautiful!

  The apartment had a real home from home feel about it.

  Everything in it was spotlessly clean, and well maintained. Very well equipped, it had everything from an ironing board to bodyboards! iron, hairdryer, along with complimentary tea, coffee and biscuits upon arrival. If you do happen to forget anything from home, I would not worry too much, as no doubt it will have been provided for your stay. The apartment is situated in a very quiet block, so nice and peaceful, along with the added bonus of a allocated parking space, and being very close to Weymouth town centre, a five minute walk if that. My only recommendations for the apartment would be, a new sofa, as the one there is not overly comfortable, due to sagging at either end. Also a black out blind or curtain may be an idea for the double bedroom, as there is an outside light that is on all night in the parking area, and it tends to light up the room through the existing curtain and blind. Other than those couple of minor things, I had a most enjoyable and relaxing stay, and would be happy to book again. Thank you.

  This was the 2nd time we stayed at the apartment.

  Plenty of room to relax with a lot of comfort. Heating was very good. Didn’t need much of a boost to warm the apartment .Great parking space. Whilst it was a bit of a walk into Weymouth, it was on the flat with lovely sea views, so it was very enjoyable . If I was being picky, these were the problems - the internal courtyard security night light flashing on and off all night continues to be irritating / the oven is not clean/ the dishwasher needs a deep clean/ why oh why is such an old TV being used. At the price of the apartment (and I'm not complaining about the cost at all) I would expect a smart TV at the very least . We don't go out on an autumn evening so we like to see good programmes which may not be on terrestrial TV. Finally, having spent so much money renovating the apartment, why isn't there a toilet at least in the upstairs bedroom. You try and go downstairs on the steep stairs in the night to go to the loo!!!! Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay very much and are planning to return in the spring!

  The property was in an excellent location for walking to/accessing Weymouth and the facilities/harbour/seafront etc.

  The property was also well equipped; furniture, utensils etc Parking is available gor one car but space is extremely small. Unfortunately, where the property falls down is on cleanliness. We stayed the first week of April, and the standard of cleanliness was low. The.sofas hadn't been moved, sweets underneath as well as paper/wrapper. In between the cushions on the sofa was quite off-putting as it was full of sand, so had not been hoovered. The wooden floors weren't clean. They may have swept/hoovered quickly bit had not been mopped. Ground floor shower room is very tight. The shower cubicle is small but hampered by a wide shelf around hip height which restricts bending in an already confined space. This didn't really make it accessible (along with steps down to the property) Overall, our week was good and we had a pleasant stay. However, I would not return to the property unless it was deep cleaned, and more care taken in between lettings. And I couldn't recommend it unless this is addressed.

  This is a marvellous holiday property in terms of its location and facilities.

  We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and would happily stay there again. The reasons we couldn't quite give it 5 stars relate to: - minor issue: surfaces and dining table were not entirely clean on arrival - more serious issue: during our stay the drains backed up (during the night and after a heavy rain shower) with dirty water in the front bedroom bathtub and the overflow in the tub running continuously. Even after the water subsided, the overflow continued to run for the remainder of our stay. We reported this to the Sykes helpline and were told an engineer would call at the property. We do not know whether an engineer attended because despite further contact by email we received no further response from Sykes. Whilst drains backing up could well be a problem beyond Sykes' control, relating to mains drains capacity etc, we were disappointed with the way that Sykes dealt with us on the matter.
