It was absolutely spotless and had everything we could possibly need. The garden was lovely and safe and it was great to spend each sunny evening at the lovely outdoor seating area. The owners were so friendly and could recommend places to eat and visit etc, when we asked. The neighbours were also friendly. Itâs a short walk to local shops and then a very short drive to a large supermarket. Then in the opposite direction, a short stroll takes you to Hornsea Freeport. Hornsea is a beautiful small town with lots of lovely shops and the sea front was pretty and not overcrowded. We spent many days on the very clean beach as we had 14 days of sunshine. We also visited Flamborough North Landing, Hornsea Mere, Bridlington and Withernsea. We thoroughly recommend staying at Whyte Retreat for your next break! Youâll want for nothing and stay in luxury in a gorgeous area of the country. After two glorious weeks, we honestly didnât want to return home.

Melissa left a bottle of milk in the fridge and a lovely cake for our arrival, which was very welcome after our long drive. Located just a few minutes from the Designer Outlet park and ride into York £3.60 return pp running every 15 mins. Would advise if sightseeing in York to buy a York Pass, can be bought online or you can buy a 1, 2, or 3 days pass from the Tourist Information in York, highly recommended to save money if you want to see all the sights. The cottage has everything you need. Large rooms, comfortable bed, with lots of storage, bathroom has a shower cubicle and a bath. Just 2 slight negatives (but didn't spoil our stay) the sofa is very low and there is no full length mirror. Strawberry Fields Café just a few mins away serve a lovely breakfast. Costcutter shop just up the road in Wheldrake and the Wenlock Arms serve lovely food. Will definable be back.

Beautifully converted old chapel in a relatively quiet residential area of Scarborough, within 10 mins walk of a supermarket, bus stops, railway station and town centre, 15 mins to the promenade and Peasholme Park. Downstairs is large and open plan with a good kitchen area, 6 seater dining table and comfortable lounge area, with a large tv. A separate TV lounge area is available which is ideal for watching a movie with a drink or two. My son has the downstairs double with bathroom just across the hall and he found it very comfortable, my daughter had one of the single rooms on the first floor and again found it very comfortable. My wife and I had the good sized double with en suite. Throughout the decor is clean and airy, and good central heating keeping the whole accomodation warm. We would definitely consider coming back next time we are in the area.

Absolutely immaculate inside and out. All the kitchen facilities and utensils you need. Super comfy beds. Very modern bathroom with great shower. Quality fixture and fittings. Beautifully decorated which runs throughout the home. Hornsea center 15 mins stroll either use the footpath end of street by roundabout or walk straight down then turn right to the high street and the beach. 5 min walk to Tesco for any supplies you had forgotten. You can also get to the beach front by going along the road where the local shops are and also free parking when you get there. The property was very clean and well equipped. The gift of milk and Victoria sponge on arrival was very welcome. Situated on a golf course, the area is quiet and, given the excellent weather we enjoyed, it was a pleasure to sit outside and enjoy the environment. The cottage is local to a Designer Outlet where it is possible to use the free to park and Park + Ride facility to travel easily into central York for sightseeing and the inevitable shopping. Also local is The Wheldrake Arms, a pub serving an excellent Sunday carvery. Can recommend the property as a base for exploring York and environs.
