What our customers say about their holidays

  • Wendy - Verified booking

We had a wonderful visit to Bryn Lllifon in a multi level generational family context and I can imagine it has been a well loved place for decades.

I loved the house/road sign which took me right back to my childhood. The location is private and secluded and I advise folk to check out on google maps to locate it before you go. It provides stunning views of Red Wharf Bay from the lounge, kitchen and the biggest bedroom. The bungalow is beautifully presented inside with a huge feeling of space as soon as you walk in and not only has 4 bedrooms but an extra little room with TV and sofa bed which proved ideal for us. As we had two very young children we were glad of a multitude of roomy walk in cupboards where lamps and tables with glass tops could be stored safely until the end of the holiday. It was a pity that there were no children's toys (plenty of board games and TV gaming) however the swing in the garden was very popular with all ages! We left a few toys for future use we hope, as we felt it is the sort of property that families travelling together like us will be grateful for. I found the kitchen equipment a bit challenging as although there is a dishwasher there is not enough crockery and cutlery. We were able to resolve this as we have a camper van and so were able to double up on mugs and cutlery. Also some mugs in the cupboard were chipped probably by poor stacking of the dishwasher. There were a few gripes with maintenance, lights that needed new bulbs and I advise bringing toilet rolls, washing detergent and dishwasher tablets. The beds were gorgeous. Little Archie, aged three years was in a single bed and stated that he had slept on a cloud! The only real negative is the water which runs hot but only briefly and it is a problem if anyone wants a bath. We found the area very convenient as you can take a lovely wooded or bay walk to Benllech Beach, passing the Ship Inn for refreshment en route! Lligwy Beach is beautiful, and a must is a visit to The Crab Shop adjacent to the Tesco Express in Benllech where we purchased fresh Menai Strait Oysters and two freshly cooked lobsters. Cooking lovely seafood for all 8 of my family in a kitchen with such an amazing view is something I will remember with enormous pleasure. I get the impression the planning for changes to the exterior property will enhance it even more but I rate it as one of my favourite places I have stayed.

    The location was great.

The house was large. We did however have some concerns over previous comments by others who had rented the property. That was in September 2020. Now in June 2021, many of the items listed had still not been rectified. Considering the rental cost for the property I would have expected those issues to have been sorted. This is not a bad property just need the issues sorting to go from being “OK” to “Great” The garden was getting overgrown. There is notification that if items are not recycled there is a £50 surcharge. Difficult to justify as the relevant bins weren’t provided and the details of when bins exchange/due etc was dated 2020. There was still mould behind the shower in the master Bedroom. The sink did not work properly in there either. The pipework under the sink in the downstairs toilet had not been cleaned and several tiles missing. The decked area in front of the kitchen has not been maintained and two old gas cylinders left, one on the decking and one in the garden. There was no gate at the side to control access from the street into the property. The settees were difficult to sit on or had started to collapse. The carpets were marked in several places. In one room all the insulation had been removed from around a window and left on the corner of the window sill hidden behind the curtain. Marks on radiators in rooms showed they had not been cleaned. Light bulb missing from the side light in the living room. The utility room also left a lot to be desired with exposed pipework etc and the filter on the tumble dryer had not been cleaned for some time. There is also a big gap under the worktop where pipes and an appliance has been taken out leaving a stained floor. I feel that the home could do with a good deep clean which would rectify many of the issues.

Recommend the location, however the property needs some improvements and we had some issues with rubbish collection.

This was our first trip to Anglesey as a young family and we would highly recommend it as a location for a varied holiday – loads to do with great beaches and plenty of places to visit both on the island and the mainland. We’ve stayed in lots of holiday lets previously and our impression was, at this price point, the place could do with some improvements and general maintenance. Generally, the kitchen is a bit tired and needs some better kit. Garden very overgrown and needs some TLC. Lots of chipped mugs etc. These are pretty minor quibbles but the two main issues we weren’t happy with were around rubbish and responsiveness to previous feedback from guests. Rubbish. When we arrived, all 4 wheelie bins were full of rubbish already. Instructions in the property said to use a red bin, however there wasn’t one. We rang the agency who said they would check and get back to us about what to do – they didn’t call us back. The upshot was all the previous guests rubbish (plus ours) was still at the priority after we left after 11 nights. We had to take some of our rubbish elsewhere ourselves. What was most disappointing was this same issue had been raised by a previous guest – it was noted in the guest book and a previous review. Responsiveness to feedback. We found that the large, heavy main dining room table had a broken leg. A former guest had noted this about a year ago, so it seems that nothing had been done to repair. We thought that was disappointing and wondered whether they had not read the feedback, or read it but not done anything about it. Will definitely be back to Anglesey but wouldn’t stay here again unless some improvements were made to the property and would hope for better responsive to issues/queries.

    We greatly enjoyed this holiday.

The view from the property is outstanding and the owners have redecorated it tastefully and to a high standard. It is situated conveniently close to the Anglesey Coastal Path. However the listing is inaccurate as it claimed that there were two showers in the property. There is a glowing paragraph saying that everyone can get ready to go out at the same time which is untrue particularly as none of us could run enough hot water to have a bath. ( Incidentally when I telephoned to suggest that you altered your listing you did so quickly, well done, but the promised "token of compensation" has not materialised). There were other difficulties: There is a lovely decking area to eat outside but only four chairs. As there are no dining chairs in the property only benches this was a drawback. We thought that we saw some extra chairs in the shed but this was padlocked. Again this is contrary to the property description which claims that the shed can be used to store bikes. The dining table was squashed into the kitchen which made it difficult four six people to eat together although this is clear from one of the pictures so that was not unexpected for us. It is useful to have two televisions and they do indeed have Netflix. However they do not have ITV which may disconcert some visitors wanting to watch the upcoming Euros. The property has obviously been refurbished very recently as the bedroom drawers had plaster dust in them which we are finding difficult to brush off our clothes. We would have detailed the above points in the housekeeping book which we were told would would be in the property but we were unable to find one. Should mention that the beds were very comfortable and we slept extremely well.

This is a well located property for anyone wishing to explore Anglesey, Snowdonia and the Llyn Peninsula.

Some people may be bothered by the road noise, especially if sleeping in the master bedroom. On arrival we found that the garden was completely overgrown, the wifi did not work, nor did the dishwasher. In fairness to Menai Holidays they responded very well to put matters right. The property does need a good, proper clean, especially in the bathrooms as there is mould in and around the shower areas. There are a few areas, downstairs loo, kitchen and master bathroom that smell musty. Personally we found the lounge settees very uncomfortable. We also found the instruction pack to be lacking in sufficient detail for example on how to connect to the wifi, recycling information was difficult to read and lack of information regarding the recycling of food waste - on our last day we found the food waste bin hidden away in the garage but no bags to put the waste in. The decked area in front of the kitchen has not been maintained and two old gas cylinders left, one on the decking and one in the garden. Following other reviews seen you would have thought that the garden area would have been maintained ready for August/September occupants. The utility area is a bit of a sorry state with cracked tiles on the floor, dirty washing machine and dirty tumble dryer. There is also a big gap under the worktop where pipes and an appliance has been taken out leaving a mouldy floor in parts. There still appears to be a problem with the sink in the kitchen as water takes a long time to drain away. This would be a really great property if Menai and the owner could work together to ensure that the property meets up to its expectations from the details shown on the website.
