What our customers say about their holidays

Dawn Catcher is a lovely modern penthouse, it has all the facilities you need to make your stay comfortable.
The welcome pack was super the best one we have ever received . There's a few points that need addressing though. 1. It states there are 3 flights of stairs but on arrival the penthouse was on the third floor but you had to climb 6 flights of stairs ! 2. Instructions to the oven, hob top, dish washer and washing machine would be very helpful. There are very vague instructions within the welcome pack for the oven and extractor fan but a folder with more detailed instructions would be more helpful. 3. The balconies could do with some attention. they had not been cleaned and the furniture could have been cleaned too. The table on one of the balconies had seen better days and the top was loose and blew over in the wind. 4. It was a bit worrying that our only means of escape in case of a fire was down the main stairway ! A long way to get down if the fire was on the other floors below. should there not be a fire escape ? ****Owner response**** Thank you very much for your feedback following your stay at Dawn Catcher. Weâre thrilled you liked the Penthouse and are happy you enjoyed your stay. Thank you also for raising a few points, which weâd like to cover here. 1) The Penthouse is advertised as being on the 3rd floor. Weâve never actually mentioned in the description the number of flights of stairs, but for the benefit of future guests we can confirm there are 6 separate flights, two per floor due to the high ceilings within the building and as mentioned in the information there is no lift/elevator. 2) Thank you for the recommendation, instructions on how to use the appliances are available and weâll look at collating these into a folder. 3) Thank you for highlighting the balcony furniture to us, weâre sorry it wasnât clean and this will be addressed. 4) We take fire safety very seriously and do all we can to ensure guests safety,. It is our understanding that Bank House was internally reconstructed in 2002 in full compliance with all fire safety regulations. The Penthouse is on the 3rd floor of a building with 9 apartments. They are serviced by a wide, central stairway which is to be used as the fire escape. All apartments have fire doors in order to protect this central stairwell and the premises have central monitored fire/smoke detectors throughout. The Penthouse also includes additional independent smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, extinguishers and fire blanket. Moreover, the electrical fuse box was replaced just months ago with high standard circuit breakers to ensure guest safety.

The property was a lovely touch and very spacious.
We enjoyed our stay, but on the first day of being in the property, we had noticed that one of the bed frames in the end room to the left had cracked. This then meant when the two people who were with us got in and sat on the bed this broke the frame in the middle which meant bed was not able to be safe to sleep in. We communicated this with the cleaner and sent photos of the picture of what the bed frame looked like when arrived and then when the guest sat on bed. When I was informed in the morning I communicated straight away to the cleaner ( who was port of contact) and sue to this being a Sunday there wasnât anything they could do until Monday. The cleaner contacted to inform me they would measure the bed and get a replacement. I informed them we would be out of property on Monday so they could measure up and get a replacement. Iâm the day they informed me they were also going to replace the other bed ( which was fine) Iâm a different room. This was all accommodated for and all sorted by Monday evening. To turn come home and several days later, to receive a message in the Sykes portal and £200 taken from my bank without any conversations. Absolutely discussed with this as we have not caused the damage to the furniture. I feel I have been boycotted for damage that was not called we by us. We shall not return due to the way we have been treated. For others that are l considering this please check everythingâ¦

The accommodation wowed us and was accurately reflected in the images on the web site .
It has a fabulous location and is close to all amenities .The maritime museum opposite is really good value for families as once paid you have unlimited access . It cost £26 for the family . The living area is spacious and comfortable and the kitchen is very well equipped . We went to St Mawes on the ferry which was small but authentic . The local Gyllyngvase beach was a 15 minutes walk and had a very smart modern cafe the area which sold local dishes and snacks .The beach was clean and was sand /shingle it shelved at the waters edge and beach shoes would soften underfoot . We went on an overcast day and the waves were quite strong , but we enjoyed the experience and the children aged 2 and 4 loved making sand castles . Prior to arrival I made and enquiry about confirming the facilities in the apartment and the Sykes call handler was responsive professional and very helpful . I had a smaller issue whilst staying and I used live chat who were also very helpful and provided an instant response which helped . We had a lovely holiday in Falmouth and I would not hesitate booking with Sykes again , from deposit to payment it was effortless . I also used the Sykes app on my phone and I had all the information regarding my booking and the areawhich I found invaluable . Thanks to all at Sykes and I would love to return to Cornwall again , my first holiday in this area since my children were young and it did not disappoint

We had a great holiday as a family of 8, including 3 children.
The location and the nearby coves were great. We hired a rowing boat and canoe from St Anthony Sailaway, which was also great. However, we paid a significant amount for the house and some of the facilities were not up to standard; part of the frustration with this, is they are all easy to fix. The majority of visitors are making similar comments to this in the visitors' book. This is just no good enough and you really need to get this property up to standard. 1. The fridge freezer is nowhere near big enough for a house sleeping 8 people - just get a bigger one and a separate freezer downstairs. 2. It sleeps 8 and there are only 6 tumblers! 3. No beer glasses 4. No childrens cups, plates and kfs. A property sleeping 8 will almost always be taken by families!! 5. One window in the middle bedroom has no curtain!! 6. The bath towels are too small. 7. As this is a beach holiday cottage, it needs an outdoor tap in the paved area alongside the drive so sandy children and adults off the beach can wash down. 8. The outdoor hanging area next door to the drive is nowhere near big enough for 8 people's swimming stuff and wetsuits; and by this I mean the washline and the cover above it to keep the rain off the drying clothes. Add some hooks to hang wetsuit hangers from. You are welcome to publish this feedback - but I do understand if you don't ... just fix it!

Can't fault property itself.
Garden stunning. We had full quota of family staying. There's simply not enough outside seating and seating is needed both sides of garden. No BBQ. I have NEVER hired where there's has not been what should be standard. Treats left very nice thank you. But also basics of salt and pepper???? We didn't bring as again these minimal standard?? No colander??? For 8 people trying to strain pasta and vegetables through a small sieve? And not enough clothes pegs. We had issues with WiFi and owner was extremely upsetting to my daughter who contacted her to say we were having issues. My daughter was polite. Owner, At around 4-5pm on the Saturday said that if we were not happy she was happy to return my money and we could go elsewhere!!!!!!!???????? Saturday late afternoon evening? 6 adults and 3 children? All unpacked and settled?????? This is APPALLING treatment! Owner said never had issues with WiFi normally..... Engineer came out mid week and said he has been so many times out to the house he knows his way with his eyes shut! Apparently constant issues as a cable outside regularly gets cut by local farmer ploughing! Owner's Tone and remarks were utterly inappropriate, unreasonable and rather cruel. I'm seriously unhappy about this. We were comfortable at the property but this left a very bad underlying air to our week......
