What our customers say about their holidays

A beautiful property and some nice touches such as home baked cake and fresh flowers but some overriding disappointments.
On arrival, we received a text to say the TV remote in the main house was lost so we couldnât use the main TV. We had a short look and found it straight away down the back of a sofa. It clearly hadnât been looked for. On looking for it, we were horrified at how dirty the sofa (under and behind the cushions were - crisps, debrisâ¦it was filthy and if it had been hoovered the remote would have been easily found). It clearly had not been cleaned for a very long time. The floor underneath had also clearly not been swept. We found an old dirty sock underneath. Throughout the property there are some lovely big windows and bifold doors. These were filthy! Covered in so many handprints that you could hardly see out. Throughout all 3 properties the level of cleanliness was very bad. Cobwebs everywhere and flies (multiple flies) in many of the rooms. On Saturday, we couldnât make the hob work on the main range cooker. On contacting the owner, they said they were sorry, but it looked like that the gas had run out and they couldnât get any delivered during our stay. So we could not use the main 7 ring hob in the big house AT ALL. There were 17 of us and we needed that to cook big family meals. We were told by the owner to make do with using the shoddy very old fashioned cookers that were in adjoining cottages. This was unacceptable. Very disappointed for the money we paid.

"A welcome sight after our long drive, charming, compact and inviting.
This elegant space is a real delight and rewards both inside and out. By day the cottage is relaxed and airy, by night it becomes snug and welcoming. I loved the sparkling fittings and elegant interiors, they show real attention to detail. The kitchen was better than our own, we left several appliances untouched! The washing machine and dishwasher looked most tempting and I'm sure are every bit as good. The village was peaceful and quiet, almost like stepping back in time. I loved the tranquil views and rural ambience, the church proved a lovely focal point. Thank you for the welcome tray which awaited us, the goodies brightened up our shop-bought fare! While the seating area at the front is charming, the lack of rear access threw us slightly. The garden behind is not available although it would add much to the appeal and the letting ability!!" The description ought to make it clear that there is a steep staircase and access to the the double bed is quite cramped. The property is definitely not suitable for anyone with walking difficulties. I think the request to hang washing outside is misleading -not many people want their smalls on show in the front and only garden! -John

We had a lovely week staying at this beautiful cosy cottage.
A lot of effort and attention to detail has been made by the owners to provide guests with a great holiday experience. Communication before the holiday was very helpful and when we arrived we were very happy with the cottage, it has been finished with quality high spec fittings and the decoration was tasteful and immaculate. We were delighted to receive a very generous welcome pack of local produce which included bread, jam, apple juice, biscuits and milk. We visited the local pub which is only 2 minute walk away and the village shop has everything you need for the week. We were able to park right outside the cottage all week and it was a great base for travelling to areas of interest. On one day we decided to have a rest from the car and enjoyed a fantastic walk to Hod Hill, well worth the effort. We would highly recommend booking this cottage, we stay in several cottages every year and this is definitely up there as one of the best. We would like to say thank you to the owners for the standard of accommodation you provide, it is obvious you care about your guests.

Newfield farm cottages is honestly the perfect place to go to if youâre planning a large gathering and want a place where you donât have to worry about noise!
Itâs set well away from any other properties and the owner Anna has been so laid back leaving us to do our own thing. We had a large group of 16 people and the place is enormous! It has so much space you never felt like you were on top of each other- to tell you the truth it was that big some of the rooms we didnât even use! Looking at other properties around this size price wise we couldnât believe how good it really was! Rooms were very clean and tidy and everything was well equipped for what you would need towels, plates, bowls etc. lots of tvâs in main living areas and games room. Lots of seating and plenty of places to walk around the site too. Really hard to pick any issues out but if I were to say anything Iâd only mention the road leading up to the cottage. Itâs very rocky and you have to drive very slowly especially in my little fiesta! Though this would in no way put me off booking again as the place is fantastic! Thank you Anna for having us and we will be keeping you in mind for any stays in the future
