What our customers say about their holidays
Joe - Verified booking
Although there was nothing wrong with the cottage/dairy itself, in fact on the whole it was quite nice, there were a couple of disappointments to deal with when we arrived.
Apparently, there had been vehicle damage to a telegraph pole and there was no Internet. Obviously this was outside the control of the owner, but knowing about it would have been nice as I had taken some work with us that I couldn't do. This was coupled with problem that we couldn't get any type of Internet connection via 4g, or even slower, while in the area of the cottage. We couldn't even get a telephone signal of any kind. No Internet, so no WhatsApp, no telephone signal, so not even texts. I am with O2 and my wife is with Vodafone. I don't know if that is the usual situation or the problem is related to the issue with the telegraph pole. We were asked to move our new car from the front of the property to the side, because it was in view of the guests from the other holiday property (their car was at the side of their property). We did this but I was a bit concerned about all the conkers that fallen all over that area. However it wasn't windy so that wasn't a problem. When we came back one evening the new guests from the other property were parked where we'd been told to park, so we had to park at the front anyway. Also, again no fault of the owner, but the A35 was closed for repairs each night between 8.00pm and 6.00am, so getting back after 8.00 was via single track country lanes, but there are passing places. On the plus side the property has pretty well everything you are likely to need and it's handy for anywhere accessible from the Dorchester to Honiton road. There are some nice eateries a short drive away, particularly The Loders Arms. The food is good and the service too, but don't go if you have a problem with dogs, although all very friendly, there's a lot of them. It's our 6th visit to Dorset and apart from the aforementioned inconveniences, we had a good holiday and we will, God willing, be returning to Dorset next year.

Wonderful old cottage with a very homely feel.
For me the sofas werenât comfortable at all though, theyâre too small, but thatâs a minor point and we managed. The rest of the cottage is lovely, with all the amenities you could need. Only thing I couldnât find were any cutting boards for vegetables etc, but again this was a minor point. The bed is huge in the main bedroom and very comfortable, even though there is a slope in the room due to the age of the building, but this didnât really affect sleep at all. The main bathroom is also huge, the bath is quite shallow, but with the roof slope above that does make some sense. Only thing I would suggest is moving the basket on the wall further down, as it does rather get in the way when sitting in the bath. In the small shower room, beware of the towel rail if it has been left on and then sit on the toilet. Itâs very close, and gets very hot. Appreciate that itâs there to dry towels etc in there, but really would be better without. Location wise itâs excellent, with two very nice pubs very close, both of which serve very good food and have lovely staff. Hive beach is walkable if youâre able, but otherwise is a short drive, plenty of parking there and a lovely beach. Parking can be a little tricky at times, close to the cottage, due to the Three Horseshoes pub being very popular, some people also do park in the village to walk to Hive Beach, so just be prepared to have to park a little distance from the cottage on occasion. All in all we had a really lovely stay at Lime Cottage.

Beautiful cottage in a very pretty village with a lovely pub, The Three Horseshoes just a few doors down- the pub is very popular and the food was excellent.
Good sized garden with patio, table and chairs. Very quiet location. This is the archetypal country cottage, but with very spacious rooms throughout - very unusual for this type of accommodation. It was spotlessly clean.4 smiley faces rather than 5 for comfort and facilities as the gas log burner didn't work, though we tried a number of times (a few cold evenings even though it was 1st week in September!), the remote control for the TV didn't always work, and there was a problem with one of the blinds. (We left a note in the cottage advising them of these issues). This did not spoil our holiday as they were minor issues. A bowl of tea bags, sachets of coffee and sugar with some biscuits provided. If you are arriving on a Saturday, do take some milk, bread and other basics with you as the village shop (just a couple of doors down from the cottage) closes at 12.30 on Saturday. There is a shop at the local petrol station but be prepared to pay a premium for everyday items!! All in all a really lovely comfortable cottage in a great location!

My family (9 of us, mixed ages) stayed here for Christmas.
The house was perfect, and the owners have been very thoughtful about everything provided to make your stay a home away from home. All the extra items we brought with us that are usually missing, we didnât need to use as they are all here for you. It was great to have a kitchen with an abundance of cooking and serving utensils. The layout makes the most of the amazing views (bedrooms on the ground floor, main areas on the first floor), and the one bedroom located on the same level as the kitchen/lounge etc was perfect for my Mum who has mobility issues. The information pack provided has all information relating to the operation of all appliances within the property and also about the locality and places to visit (West Bay is a must for all Broadchurch fans and is walkable from the property) Louisa who manages the property was so helpful with all our questions, and we got to meet her when she came to check the hot tub during our stay. We highly recommend this property, and would absolutely love to stay here again.

We were all absolutely delighted with this property.
It was spacious, clean and the garden was a delight with its hot tub, hide, quiet spaces, games room and conservatory. The upstairs balcony provided glorious views towards West Bay. It was close enough to walk to West Bay and the local leisure centre at Bridport was a successful and affordable place for our teenagers on a wet day. The flowers on our arrival plus the welcome pack were much appreciated. The property was very well stocked; the kitchen was clean, modern and bright with everything we could possibly need. We really appreciated that the owner had ensured everything for a BBQ was present and it was taken away to be cleaned before we used it. The owner was easy to contact at all times. We had a wonderful time and did not want to come home. This was a brilliant property and our thanks to the owners for making us so welcome.
