  Part of me almost doesn’t want to write this review so I can keep this absolutely gem a secret, but that wouldn’t be fair.

  When we arrived, Glen met us at the property to give us a guided tour and to show us how to use the hot tub. She was so friendly and welcoming and made us feel right at home. The first thing you notice with the property is the size. It’s was huge and easily accommodated the 6 of us. It also has 2 double bedrooms which is a rare find! The vaulted ceilings also made it feel more spacious and light. Every room had a tv, fresh bedding and towels and even individual bars of soap which was a lovely touch. There had separate towels for the hot tub and for bathing. The kitchen was extremely well stocked with pretty much every utensil you could need. There was even basic condiments for cooking as well as products for cleaning / washing up. The hot tub was very relaxing and got daily use. There’s a privacy screen next to it so you’re not overlooked and you can just relax and enjoy the views. So, the views. The location is truly stunning. Set in its own private field, there is plenty of grassy area to enjoy and even 2 lakes which are well stocked with fish, if that’s your thing. There’s plenty of wildlife to enjoy, from wild deer to Kingfishers so make sure you take some binoculars. The nearest town was Bampton which had a couple of Spar shops, decent butchers and pharmacy and was only a 5 min drive away. All the locals roads were very quiet, but are well connected if you wanted to travel further afield. Can definitely recommend the Grand Wester Canal for a lovely walk. All in all we had an amazing time and will definitely be back soon.

  I was very happy with Stagsholt where I stayed for 7 nights in May.

  David gave me a warm welcome and explained all the "stuff you need to know" clearly and it transpired we had a little history in common. A welcome pack of eggs, milk, tea, coffee, biscuits and wine helped me to settle in. A vase of wild flowers in the bedroom was a delightful touch. The shower cubicle was large and bathroom newly refurbed. The only thing missing was a shelf and some hooks in the cubicle for my products. Bed was comfy and lots oh hangers in the wardrobe, its these little things that made it a place that i would love to go back to. The weather could not have been better and I spent some relaxing hours on the N Devon beaches, especially Instow, and on the top of Exmoor. I managed to catch up with several friends in the area and visited the farm where I spent my teenage years. I was delighted to find that the gardens were open that week so had a sentimental wander through the past. I would not hesitate to recommend this property to anyone that fancies a quiet, out of way location that is very comfortable and with hosts who were friendly and approachable.   For a cottage that will accommodate 4 people, there were only 2 chairs in the garden.

  The garden was overgrown and had an upturned wheelbarrow as a back gate which our dog nearly lept over. There was no welcome information left for us which would have been nice. There was an innocuous looking basket on the floor in the sitting room which contained some details about the local area - we didn't notice this until the last evening of our stay. This would have been better served if it were left by the visitor book. It would have been nice to have some history of the cottage i.e. age, original use, old photos etc. This could have been made as a wall hanging or even just some laminated sheets left on the table for occupants to read. The bolt off the bottom half of the stable door was missing which meant we couldn't leave it open for ventilation as the dog would dissappear into the insecure garden. The cottage has potential but the owners need to invest more time & effort into it

  Very steep stairs to first floor and steep stairs to main bedroom not mentioned in property details although uneven floors are which is good.

  The property should not be described as having 2 bathrooms as there is only one bathroom and a very small en-suite shower room. Very disappointing to find that the pub mentioned in the details is closed which was very inconvenient as we’d planned to eat there and having to do food shops took time out of our holiday. Having said all that the cottage was well equipped with quality white goods and oven and the bedding was spotless. The milk and bread which was provided for our arrival was most welcome and a lovely surprise to find. We didn’t use the garden but it was exceptionally pretty and had lots of birds which was pleasing. I would like to suggest that a hairdryer would be a very useful item to offer. All in all a great little cottage in an extremely quiet area close to A303 and A30 and considering the cottage is terraced there was no noise nuisance from any of the other cottages.

  Amazing little cottage with all you need for your stay.

  A lovely base very close to Axminster, Lyme Regis and Seaton. The owners left a welcome package which was much appreciated with milk in the fridge, tea bags and coffee. The dog loved the space and freedom. The cottage is not enclosed so bare in mind that if your dog is not trained as there are a couple of cottages in the row with access to all of them. Also there is WiFi however, I would not rely on it as it was very slow and would disconnect. Also due to the location mobile data is pretty poor. Just a thought if someone needed to work remote from the cottage. But this did not spoil the holiday it was lovely and tranquil listening to the birds and animals in the evenings on the farm next door. Thank you for a lovely stay Honeysuckle cottage, we will be returning.
