What our customers say about their holidays
Iris - Verified booking
Oyster Cottage was very comfortable for us and our friends--another older couple.
The situation was brilliant --right in the middle of the extremely pretty village of Naunton. We were opposite the owner's house at the end of a lane, which was surrounded but countryside. The sitting areas, outside the cottage and the extra seating area above the cottage enabled us to have sun whenever it was out! BBQ and fuel was provided. Logs for inside were free and plentiful --firelighters provided. In fact, everything we might need was provided--the owners were extremely thoughtful and generous in their provisions for guests. The beds were comfortable with beautiful bed linen. Showers effective and products provided. In the kitchen there was plenty of equipment and extra fridge and freezer space was in the garage. Naunton is placed central to Stow on the Wold, Bourton on the Water (with a wonderful co-op). Moreton on the Marsh (with a quiet and efficient minor injuries unit) and only a few miles from Cheltenham. The countryside around is so beautiful and there are walks from the door to lovely small villages. Plus so many places to visit only half an hour away. Our favourite was Adlestrop, then walking to Chastleton House(NT), with cakes and tea provided by the local WI in the church. We had a wonderful holiday. Many thanks to the kindness of the owners.

We had a lovely stay meeting up with our family from London.
The two bathrooms were one of the main reasons for booking. A downstairs toilet would have been a bonus. The location was very quiet and concealed. Certainly off the âbeaten trackâ. Personally (as the driver) I found it a little too far away from Stow on the Wold particularly at night. One point which is common to every single rental property I have stayed in is the frying pan. I normally take my own but had forgotten it. The frying pans are always scratched, lost their non stick and frequently dirty without exception. Frying pans cost around £15 for a cheap one so why arenât they replaced say every couple of months. This is a general issue for Manor Cottages to highlight. Luckily our dog is old and arthritic so didnât need big walks although Naunton Dovecote wasnât far and we made it to the river. We found the owners of Oyster Barn very pleasant and had a good time.

We absolutely loved the cottage.
It was very clean and the beds were extremely comfortable. The showers were sublime. The configuration of the cottage worked well and the kitchen and the lounge were very well equipped and easy to enjoy. We only have a couple of comments which affected our stay - Our main comment is that the owners property is very close (much closer than the photographs imply) and looks directly into the cottage windows, so we felt a little lacking in privacy. Also, the garage and office(?) and laundry are adjoined to the cottage and are in regular use, which sent our dogs barking wildly at every sound they could hear through the wall. With regards the dogs, there was nowhere to wash them - thank goodness we took the Mud Daddy. The back garden is not directly attached to the property.

Absolutely lovely cottage really close to Bourton on Water (10 mins drive).
Beautiful village, proper hidden gem. The cottage kitchen has absolutely everything you could need, and I mean everything, tea towels, washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets and all the cooking utensils etc you could ever need. Lovely welcome pack of croissants, butter, eggs and milk. Owners are lovely. Yes they are opposite but keep themselves to themselves but are there if you need them. The bathrooms are wonderful, lovely big shower (there is even shower gel provided). Huge tv with Netflix and DVD player. I stayed here with my 10 year old daughter so please be aware it is a barn with high ceilings upstairs so we were visited by quite a few spiders, lol. We would definately stay again in this wonderful cottage.

Very comfortable and enjoyable stay nice welcome with freebies .
However the listing does not say that the freezer is OUTSIDE in the car port ,very inconvenient ! You only find out after you have booked !There is ample space to have a better fridge /freezer in the kitchen .The fridge is in an inconvenient location under the counter .There is no cupboard space to store your food for the week if you self cater as we do ! I suggest making a cupboard /shelves where the fridge is for visitors food and replacing the fridge with a freestanding fridge freezer ,there is a plug point in the corner of the kitchen .Or put a freezer in the corner with the fridge on top much better for those who self cater all week Free log supply was very welcome .
