What our customers say about their holidays
Petula - Verified booking
This is an absolutely fabulous location.
However, we were very disappointed with the cottage itself. After looking back on the website listing, we now realise that the photographs taken inside were taken with every light being on downstairs. On arrival, we walked into a dark and dingy room with no natural light save that from the one small window. This meant that lights had to constantly be on and althougn the weather was gloriously warm outside, the cottage itself was quite cold. This in turn meant that we needed to put some heating on. Working the central heating was no minor feat and the electric fire had a mind of its own. Putting one vent on low was giving some heat off but trying to turn it up and putting two vents on, switched the whole thing off. We couldn't get the cooker hood to work therefore, there was no ventilation or direct light over the cooker therefore, door and window needed to be open to get rid of the steam from cooking. Upstairs, both in the bathroom and the second bedroom, the skylight was difficult to reach, even with the window pole, and the double bed dipped on the right hand side, as did the headboard. It was only on the morning of departure we realised that the castor was broken and there was no washer on the the slat holding the headboard in place. Going outside, the lack of privacy was quite intrusive. Gilpin View front door and Bobbin Mill front door are very close together with a joint path leading to both. Outside of Bobbin Mill cottage, there is a wooden table and bench which, quite rightly, their guests can enjoy sitting on. However, this afforded no privacy when coming out of Gilpin View and was quite uncomfortable. I would suspect that those staying at Bobbin Mill would also feel the same way. Gilpin View's seating area was quite unkempt and not very pleasant to relax in, and obviously hadn't been tended to for some time e.g. weeds, overgrown and generally messy and untidy. As one time owners and managers of a holidy let further up into the Gyhll, we were looking forward to revisiting this picturesque hamlet, sadly, on this occasion, Gilpin View dulled what we had hoped, would have been and enjoyable week.

We were greeted by owls hooting in the trees as we arrived in this special place on Friday afternoon. Wer loved being surrounded by the trees which encouraged the birds to visit us daily. Yes we've seen them all including the seeming resident nuthatch. It has been a thrill to discover North Norfolk at this beautiful time of year. We have been so blessed with warm sunny days which have shown off all the autumn hues. We foraged sweet chestnuts and roasted them in the open fire - such a treat and so delicious. Titchwell RSPB didn't disappoint, and neither NWT Cley Marshes. We had six sightings of the marsh harrier including diving for the kill and launching back up to the skies with a duck in its talons! It was quite a struggle between them and the duck obviously was too heavy for him - we're not sure how the duck fared in the end! Also in the skies this week have been the RAF fighter jets - soaring and roaring daily during the working week! Blickling House (National Trust) is worth a visit. The beaches are lovely to walk and we particularly enjoyed Wells-next-the-Sea. Thank you for sharing this lovely home with us. It is surprisingly cosy. Its quirky furnishings bring a smile and it has been a most enjoyable stay. Thanks for the good standard of housekeeping, but there are only two teaspoons in the cutlery drawer. (note from owner - thank's for letting us know... all will be replaced) All the above makes us want to return some day. Thank you once again.

A beautiful house full of character and old-fashioned charm. Thoughtfully furnished with lots of railway related items. Beautiful, peaceful garden filled with wildlife. Very much enjoyed a morning pot of tea at the lunge table watching the birds on the feeder and listening to the radio. Evenings spent by the open fire with a glass of wine (thank you!) were perfect for our autumn stay.Bath tub in the cupboard very much enjoyed by our eight-year-old son, as were the toys and delightfully decorated twin bedroom. Crabbing equipment very handy for our visit to Wells! Everything clean and tidy in the house, including fresh smelling bedding and towels. Garden well tended before our stay too. Kitchen small but well-equipped and utility very handy. Please to have bird feed provided â our son enjoyed filling up the bird feeder each morning. Yes â the smell of pigs is not great but we did not let it bother us.We visited Wells-next-the-Sea for crabbing and the excellent Two Magpies Bakery. Cromer for the arcades, fish ânâ chips and pebble collecting on the beach. A visit to Muckleburgh Military Collection on a rainy day was really enjoyable for our son â lots to see. A ride on the miniature steam railway from Wells to Walsingham was a good thing to do for children and those wanting to visit Walsingham. We have really enjoyed out stay at Station House and hope to return again in a warmer time of year. Thank you!
