What our customers say about their holidays

Enjoyable mini break in a lovely, clean, well equipped cottage.
The bed was very comfortable, although the electric shower, while nice and hot, didn't have much flow and I had to wash my hair using the bath tap shower head. The bedrooms down the very steep and narrow treaded stairs (beware if you have any mobility issues) have had a makeover since the photos and are well equipped and very comfortable. The kitchen has everything needed for self catering, including a coffee machine. The welcome basket of prosecco, crisps and 4 coffee pods was a nice touch. The only downside was the 5pm check in and 9am checkout, I understand that this may have been changed due to covid/cleaning etc, but this made it a rush to get up, packed and leave the place as we found it without setting the alarm to get up early, although we did it, but an extra hour would have helped so we could have had some breakfast as well! Set in a lovely location with views from the patio garden over Reeth and the surrounding hills, walking distance to Reeth where there are pubs serving food and a small corner shop which is quite well stocked, and a friendly pub in Grinton also serving food. We self catered and shopped at Tesco in Catterick Garrison on the way so didn't eat out on this trip. We did two 7 mile walks along the river and up along the tops of both sides of the valley, Fremington Edge and Harkerside where you can see for miles, which both us and our dog loved as we were very lucky with two days of lovely December sunshine! And there are plenty more walks right on the doorstep. The parking at the bottom of the hill a short walk away, was in a small lane shared with some cottages. All in all a great stay, we may need to return to explore more of the stunning local area!

This barn is situated in the most beautiful of settings.
Fields, trees, and streams running alongside the barn are all very relaxing. However as it is stated as a dog friendly rental we were very disappointed on arrival to find the property is not, you are asked to keep dogs down stairs on a hard floor as not allowed on furniture or upstairs. Not relaxing for owner or pet. Perhaps provide throws as other establishments do. Take the dog bed as only comfort your fur baby will have. The bath was used on the day of arrival, which leaked through the ceiling into the downstairs area. This was not a new leak as the ceiling had previous water marks. On notifying the owner, we were asked 'well are you going to want to use it again?' We had to clean up water, place towels to catch water, and the owner did not come out till the next day. No apology given for inconvenience etc. Listing says hot tub as private however it faces the main lane giving access to other properties so felt exposed as cars and walkers going past. A privacy screen is definitely needed. Additional towels are recommended if using hot tub. Stair gate is a falling hazard as it sits on the bottom step and steps are deep and tall so effectively having to step down 2 steps at once. Garden very secure and fully enjoyed by our dog. My ratings are based on it being stated as a dog friendly establishment, if you have a working dog who is not used to its homly comforts then it may be a true statement.

Owing to the fact that we live in Wales this was our first break away for purely countryside views.
Our home is very close to the sea. We stayed at Ploony Barn from 260424 until 030524 for our wedding anniversary and both mine and my wifeâs birthdays. As soon as we saw the location of the barn we were taken aback it was and is beautiful. There was countryside along with sheep and cattle as far as we could see and the place picturesque and peaceful. The barn was amazing with everything that you would need from dishwasher to washing machine and whatever else you could think was there it was wanting for nothing. It was beautifully clean and extremely tidy. The owner Lindsay was extremely friendly and helpful. We had a couple of very minor queries that we asked Lindsay for her advice to which we received responses from her within minutes and these were helpful and very positive. Overall we had an amazing week which we enjoyed totally. The location and the barn were amazing. We would recommend Ploony Barn to anyone wishing to have a holiday in a totally exquisite place and location. We intend to return for another holiday in the not too distant future. Many Thanks Michelle and Paul Parsons

We had amazing holiday at Kensa.
Property was warm on arrival. Owner had given us Easter eggs, coffee and milk, lovely wine and even treats for our dog. Property was immaculately clean, Modern and had everything that you may wish for. Personal touches were really lovely. We loved all the picture canvases of the local places with post codes on the wall. Welcome folder was very informative. Jacuzzi was amazing and clean. It is emptied and cleaned between every bookings. If cleanliness is important for you, then this is the place! Property was spotless! Reading the previous reviews, everything that had been mentioned by previous quest had been rectified. I.e. there now is a laundry aerial. You really don't need to take any household items with you. These is toilet and kitchen paper, dishwasher /laundry tablets, cleaning liquids, and even towels for the muddy paws. We will defenately return.

Kensa is a lovely property and the owners' little touches are wonderful.
The welcome pack of wine, mince pies and chocolates went down a treat, as did the fact that they had decorated Kensa for Christmas including a tree Its ideal for dogs and towels and treats are provided for them as well. Everything is provided re towels and linen but would suggest that bring own towels for hot tub be added in description as a note ask that the white towels not be used for hot tub. Underfloor heating took a while to get use to and at times it felt cold The cooker is also a little temperamental especially if you put the wrong pan on, it doesn't recognise the weight and turns itself off. Cornwalls weather was at its wettest so due to the lack of a clothes horse it was hard to get items dry. The hot tub though was fabulous and was used daily in all weathers We would recommend Kensa to others because over all it was one of the best we have stayed in.
