What our customers say about their holidays

We absolutely loved staying here!
It was wonderful to be so central to Dartmouth and yet feel quite private amongst the rooftops. And of course the views were amazing. Everything in the property was well thought out and the kitchen was equipped appropriately and everything worked well. It is bijou, but perfectly furnished. Though there are steps up to the property, we did not find them troublesome and enjoyed the fact that the property was tucked away. The parking permit was a godsend allowing us to park in the central car park. Parking in Dartmouth is difficult at best and the roads are quite tiny. In peak months you can park for two hours directly outside the property (at the bottom of the steps) which was helpful when dropping off luggage and on the morning of departure. It was a beautifully hot week and the bedrooms were cool with the windows open and upstairs too which created a lovely breeze. I did see another comment about the visibility through the small window in the front door which I initially didnât think much about, but can now agree that a small curtain there would be ideal. If, as we did, you sleep with the crew bedroom door open to allow the room to stay cool on a hot night, you are in fact potentially on view to those coming down the steps outside. We managed to rig up a towel to create privacy, but a small curtain would be an easy solution. This did not detract from our overall delight in staying here and would fully recommend the property and we definitely hope to return.

The flat was absolutely delightful.
An upside-down place with the most gorgeous views of Dartmouth, both out to the castle and the sea and up the river. The views at sunrise and sunset were particularly lovely - I was very lucky with the weather. (Had I not been, the flat would have still been cosy with a wood-burning stove.) The cooking facilities were excellent, the combined oven/microwave was very handy, although being just a short walk away from the town-centre I ate out most lunchtimes at the river-front restaurants or took a picnic down to Bayards quay. I also had a divine brunch one day at the aptly named; Al Fresco's. Handy shopping at Co-op and M&S was also very nearby. The steps up to Spyglass (which the ad for the property mentioned) were a little challenging for some-one like myself with mobility difficulties, but taken slowly were perfectly do-able. I particularly enjoyed the serene Captain's bed-room, all white wood paneling and soft pillows and the big open shower. My only, tiny, criticism was that a small curtain across the porthole window in the front door might be an idea as someone passing up the steps (a public footpath) could see in as one went from bathroom to bedroom. All in all a wonderful place for a spring getaway (a birthday present to myself)!

The apartment was simply stunning.
It is incredibly well furnished and the kitchen is stocked with all the items you need and more. There was only 2 of us staying but the apartment could easily cater for 6 if there were more beds! The bed was really comfy and the bedding was of high quality. The location is amazing, we often got take out and sat on the balcony to eat rather than in the restaurants on the street below as the view from the apartment was better than if you were sat in them. We also never heard noise from the apartment or restaurant below which was something we were concerned about before we arrived. The parking permit was also extremely useful and could be used in some other car parks nearby to Dartmouth which was great. The only very minor comment I would make is that when we arrived the hot water had been turned off so the shower was cold. Once weâd figured out this was it we didnât have any more problems but Iâd suggest that the hot water is left on for future guests. Overall, a great stay and weâd love to come back again in the future!

Overall the place is lovely, the views are totally spectacular and the layout of the apartment is well thought out.
I don't wish to criticise too much because we did really enjoy our stay. The following things for us would have made it perfect and I feel might make a big difference to other people staying so I wish this to be helpful, not critical. We found the beds uncomfortable, we tried both and they were really hard. My partner didn't really sleep well. The sofa was also very uncomfortable, it slides down when you sit on it so overall we found it hard to relax at the apartment in the evening. The two arm chairs were good for us. Some of lights don't work in the bathroom, there might be good reason for this. Two of the draws in the furniture in living room fall open all the time after you close them, I am guessing that is to do with how the room slopes. Not a big issue for us but thought it was work letting you know. Everything else was great and we loved watching the river from the balcony. Less fussy people who are out and about more and don't mind very firm beds will love this place. Its also very spacious and clean.

This is a very sweet little flat, with fabulous views over the Dart estuary and really handy for the very pretty old town and the ferry.
Beds were really comfy and shower/hot water worked well plus new cooker and fridge. We had a lovely week with lots to explore including 2 fabulous NT properties at Greenway and Coleton Fishacre - and great walks along the coast path, plus plenty of quiet little coves to swim or canoe from. Plus only a short stroll down to the Dartmouth Arms with a great and reasonably priced menu. The only downside from our perspective was the steps to the property which were narrow, steep and uneven, and we couldn't work the outside light out - so had a few hairy descents. So fine for the able-bodied, but I wouldn't recommend for anyone with mobility issues. Plus we never manged to park outside (but that is fairly typical for Dartmouth) - so the weekly pass for the Mayors car park was a godsend. Having said all that I would stay there again, as it was such a good location and you could sit on the outside terrace and watch the world go by for hours.
