  This is a great apartment with lovely views, light and airy interiors and an adjacent parking spot of a standard size.

  Access to Dartmouth's centre is all level, with a roomy lift in the apartment building. Facilities are good, beds very comfortable, and everything was spotless. We had 2 issues during our stay hence the 4 stars and not 5. The first has been mentioned on another review, there is a strong and significant draft that comes down the chimney and up through a grid in the floor of the living room. Any heating that is on will not help with this! The fire is for display only so we were able to block off the opening to prevent the draft somewhat, but this really needs attention. The second issue was that we were unable to change the heating for a day and a half after arrival, as the control touchscreen had been locked with a PIN, presumably by another guest. Contacting the local Coast and Country on Sunday diverted us to Sykes head office. They did call back later, but a fix was not available until the Monday am when a call from the local office to the Caretaker resolved the problem in moments as he had online access to the system. This seems to be a bit of a procedural fail, the on-call head office obviously doesn't have access to local contacts. We would happily stay here again, as I am sure the chimney situation will be resolved. And the response from Coast and Country when they were open on the Monday was immediate and helpful.

  We had a very enjoyable Autumn break at 34 Dart Marina, however our experience with Coast and Country Cottages was disappointing.

  A prior request for non-biological laundry of linen met with a negative response and the only solution offered was for us to bring our own towels and bed linen...not a wholly satisfactory situation when booking a high-end property. Communications with Coast and Country were less than helpful…key collection and directions to the property were not straightforward…closing times of the office were not given, emails were sent during our stay, and telephone calls made to our home landline, neither of which were received until our return. Cleanliness and maintenance were also disappointing...weeds growing on balcony...silverfish in bath and shower. The controls in the walk-in shower are practically impossible to use with wet hands. Overall, however we had a very comfortable stay at 34 Dart Marina and the view from the balcony was outstanding. We hope to return to Dartmouth in the future as there is so much more to see and do in such a lovely area. We would not hesitate to stay at 34 Dart Marina again, but would expect an improved, more customer-focused approach from Coast and Country Cottages.

  Our second stay in this beautiful apartment directly overlooking the River Dart.

  It's supremely comfortable, well maintained, expensively furnished and extensively equipped. A real home from home. It's mesmerising to sit in front of the large bifold doors, or even open them up and go onto the balcony and take in the view of all the river traffic, boats and people pottering about. There's always something happening. In fact we've never even used the television and the books that we've taken with us have remained unread because we just want to look at that view. Likewise we self cater despite the excellent choice of eating places in Dartmouth. The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in and it's an easy, flat walk to M&S where you can buy all the provisions that you need. With parking right outside the apartment block and a lift right to the front door, it's so easy too to bring whatever you might need from home. In summary, a wonderful place to stay and it's all about the view.

  This apartment was in an amazing spot.

  The view is just incredible and provides a wonderful window in which to watch the world pass by. Very minor points it was very impersonal and stark - none of the usual trimmings in holiday homes that enhance your stay - books, games, binoculars even given the location etc - those thoughtful touches that turn great into brilliant. (We are serial renters for 30+ years) The cupboards were also bare - no sugar(I did leave some for the next guests) one coffee pod, no oil (things like herbs etc that make it feel that there is a community of people enjoying the house and wanting to share) no rubbish bags or even a handful of dishwashing tabs and very cheap loo roll. And my husband’s keen nose felt that the towels smelt. As I say it is these small touches that can be easily delivered that really can elevate a property easily. We love Dartmouth and had a lovely stay - thank you.

  This apartment and setting was absolutely stunning.

  We loved our time here. The views from the apartment over the river did not disappoint. Two huge bathrooms and good sized bedrooms were perfect for a group of four. Although top floor there is a good sized and quick lift in the block which was perfect for my 79 year old mum who struggles with stairs. The car parking space is also right outside of the block. Good to see tea towels, dish scourer, a few dishwasher tabs and other cleaning items available within the property. The location was perfect for us, a short flat walk away from numerous shops and restaurants, alongside ferry access. We felt very safe at night walking around and even had drinks at the hotel next door which was handy. A nice quiet area. We would definitely recommend this place and will return.
