What our customers say about their holidays
Mr White - Verified booking
"The Lookout" at Sennen Cove has a number of desirable features. It is located very close to the harbour and beach (even if the 76 steps up to it can be demanding), and also to the coast path. It has fantastic views of the sea from three large windows. The flat has a contemporary, coastal feel and is light and airy. The extra-large bed is comfortable. The bathroom has an excellent shower, and the one-person bath in the bedroom is a lovely addition, especially given the view from it. There is plenty of hot water and good water pressure throughout the flat. The kitchen includes a full-size cooker and oven, 'fridge, and microwave, and while there isn't much preparation space, it will probably work well enough for most. There is also a washing machine (which we didn't use). Sadly, the flat isn't particularly well looked after. The cleaning in particular was poor in places. While the obvious things were clean enough (sink, bath, shower, etc.), we were bothered by the following: (1) We had to clean dusty cobwebs and spiders off the walls and ceilings in the bedroom. It was clear that no one had done this for weeks. (2) There were what looked like animal hairs on the bed cover when we arrived. (3) There was a dirty single mattress underneath the bed, as well as a mattress protector and sheet. (4) The floor throughout the flat had not been mopped for some time and was sticky. (5) There was black mold on all the window frames. It looked like someone had possibly run a cloth over some of it, but little more than that. We found that a substantial amount came off with just a cursory wipe, suggesting that no one had made any real effort to clean them in a long time. Some of the walls around the windows also needed to have mold removed and to be repainted. (6) The blinds were dirty and needed washing or replacing. (7) The windows were dirty and needed to be cleaned on the inside and the outside. (8) The 'fridge was so noisy that it could be heard in the bedroom with the door closed. Given that it only just about managed to keep items cold when on its coldest setting (and that in cool-ish weather), it presumably needed repair. Our milk went off after two days of being in there, strangely. (9) The sliding bedroom door only opened about three quarters of the way because of how it had been hung. (10) The windows, which are one the flat's main attractions, open inwards, but couldn't be opened more than a few inches because of the blinds. (11) The telescope didn't work, despite following he instructions; my best guess is that a power cable was missing. We drew this to Original Cottages' attention the day after we arrived using the e-mail address specified for support during stays, but heard nothing back. If the issues above were addressed, we would be happy to recommend this flat without reservation and probably to book it again ourselves.

I was hugely disappointed with this booking for two reasons: 1.
I am serving in the Army and in Jul 23 having booked the property to return home to see my Family I was told I would be required to be on duty over the period of Christmas and thus attempted to reduce the length of my stay by two days.Given that this was 5 mths prior to the booking I assumed there would be some flexibility on pricing and yet I was advised this was not the case and if I cancelled I would love my deposit which was excessive and therefore I could not afford to, 2.Having paid a MASSIVE premium for the Christmas week booking I was astounded to learn on enquiring that there would be no Christmas decorations in the property - the explanation being that the Owners did not live locally and therefore could not put a Christmas tree up for us!,,What an absolute joke. The owners probably donât live locally as all these holiday properties are owned by non locals but the cleaner obviously does! So having paid hundreds of pounds more for the Christmas week for myself and my Daughter there was no sight of a twinkly light or baubleâ¦I think this is outrageous frankly.I stay in Porthleven most christmases as am at home visiting family from the Army and every property via Aspects etc has made the effort to decorate for Christmas. I shanât be booking this property or via Sykes again Itâs a complete insult to people who use their hard earned cash to support local tourismâ¦

It's a beautiful flat.
The location is perfect. We enjoyed reading the history about the old post office. It is clean and the beds are very comfortable. We appreciated the welcome pack, including tea, nice coffee, biscuits, washing up sponge, bars of soaps, laundry washing powder and washing machine tablets and the information left. We were surprised to find team towels too as it asked to bring your own. What we didn't expect is the coffee machine shown on the photos, to be put away as not possible to use it. It looked on the advert that not only it was part of the rental accommodation but few capsules would be provided with it. I think we were glad not to have to use the heating, but I'm sure we would have worked it out with the instructions. The only not so positive thing is the internet connection. The BT box is nowhere to be seen, which made us believe we were connecting on someone else's box. This also because it is very easy to loose it and find out you are on 4G/5G when you are in the flat, but, passed 10 pm, you definitely loose the connection, meaning if you are watching something on Netflix, Iplayer etc... and haven't finished your program, you will have to wait until the following day. We felt if providing such level of quality and a smart TV with a variety of access, including for your phone, it shouldn't be so restricted. But really, it was a very enjoyable stay.

Whilst the property is very well presented with comfortable beds, quality bed linen and in a good location we did experience a few issues.
There are now mirrors in the bedrooms as previous guests have requested, however the one in the back bedroom is very small and was too high. However, the main issue is that we had to keep the blind down in this bedroom as the apartment above has steps that pass the window meaning that the occupants could see directly into the bedroom whenever passing, a one way blind like to ones on the lounge and front bedroom is definitely needed! Also a blind on the back door is needed, on one occasion I had just had a shower, luckily I was wearing my bathrobe, as just as I came out of the bathroom a strange man, who turned out to be the barber from down the road, had appeared at the back door, he had apparently gained access by lifting the gate latch through a hole, this was most embarrassing! However the main issue was the HORRENDOUS noise from the apartment above, which was almost non stop when it was occupied, at times it was so bad that we thought there was an aerobics class being held up there!!The ceiling/floor needs soundproofing as it became unbearable at times, forcing us to stay out far more than we would have under normal circumstances. We did think the apartment was lovely in other ways but the lack of privacy and the excessive noise would prevent us from booking the Old Post Office again.
