What our customers say about their holidays

A small compact recently renovated apartment on the first floor.
Super sea views through large windows, a small but adequate well fitted kitchen area, although no leg room at the 'breakfast bar'. Small double bed, quite comfy, but not big enough / long enough for me. The 'bedroom' also contained 2 extremely large seats, taking up most of the floor space and were, in my opinion, unnecessary. Would have been better to have had a small table and 2 chairs in that window area, to take advantage of the nice views whilst having breakfast. TV was difficult and complicated to use, the signal was also poor and hard to find the basic channels that we use. (no channel hopping on the controls!) Bathroom was excellent, although I would have preferred to have a good shower rather than a jaccuuzzi bath. How many take time for a bath I wonder? Also pleased with the space to hang clothes and drawers for storage. One downside was the entry key. The lock is of poor quality and took a few attempts to get in. My partner was 'locked out' as she could not get in, thankfully someone came out. The apartment keypad also failed and had to be reset - this was of major concern as we could not get hold of anyone. Again the caretaker came to our rescue, but had the instructions been available in the hallway we could have done it ourselves. All in all, one of the best we have stayed at in Bridlington, location, facilities and cleanliness are important and I am sure the niggles we encountered can be sorted. No doubt some couples would use the large seats? and jacuzzi bath. Doubt we will book again, the lack of parking permit (all others provide them) small bed and cramped bedroom

We had a great stay at Ellerby lane house.
The positives were great location, lovely decor, very homely. The cleanliness was very good. The negatives were the beds were very hard so quite uncomfortable, there was no mirrors in the bedrooms so doing make up was a bit of a struggle. The property capacity is for 7 people but there wasnât 7 plates or 7 sets of cutlery as we were there for Christmas and was cooking Christmas dinner in the property we had to go and buy some as there was no contact number provided for the owners for if we needed anything. There is also no parking at the property which isnât uncommon for Whitby but I think it should be listed on the listing as it wasnât easy unloading our stuff parked on double yellows on the side street and we wasnât given any instructions prior, I had to call Sykes cottages to contact the owners to see where we could unload. It was also a little noisy at night time if you were trying to sleep and could hear people heading back from the pub, again not a major issue but the location is very central so could be a little noisy if you plan on taking babies etc. The toilet seat was also broken in the main bathroom and some of the blinds were broken so couldnât be opened. There is also no exterior bins for the property so as you can imagine being Christmas we had a lot of rubbish which we had to bag up and pile up near the entrance of the property for it to be collected by the owners. Besides all that it is a lovely place to stay, very cosy and the location really is perfect for exploring Whitby.

THANK YOU George and the team from Mick Debbie and Abbey the dog.
We found number 8 to be a perfect apartment for two and a dog. Everything in the apartment for a âromanticâ get a way including the gift of bubbles and chocolates in the welcome pack along with the milk, coffee and teabags for that first brew on arrivalâ¦..Abbey says donât forget to mention how she enjoyed the tasty dog treats too. We had some pouring rain, however whatever the weather, apartment 8 has such stunning sea views and is so comfy there is no need to venture out to feel youâve had a break by the sea. We already have a sea view apartment At Hunters Quay, not only on our must return to list, but also as a definite winter break destination. Town and the supermarkets were walkable for us and with the beach only a hop skip and a jump away we were able to do plenty of short beach walking between showers and a longer one on a finer day. With the spa theatre in such close proximity, we will also keep an eye on events there, as apartment 8 will make a super theatre break destination. All in all we think George and his helpful team tick all boxes and provide a gem of a place to make happy memories by the sea without any need to worry about parking with the included parking permit. Added bonus as everything is so close no need to use the car. All in all this apartment is highly recommended by us

Stayed here over the Goth weekend and wouldn’t stay again. It’s basic, a place to sleep but not much else. Lack of basic amenities, no toilet paper, no working heating, no WiFi, toilet flush takes many tries to work, hot tap barely worked. And it’s a fair walk to the co-op to get the basic necessities that are provided by most other cottages. Other people in our party stayed in a bigger cottage near the abbey which was cheaper and they provided a welcome basket containing basics like teabags, milk etc. so I’d look elsewhere if you’re staying in Whitby. Place was also not very clean. Black mould in the shower, dirty mirrors and hair all over the floors. Knelt down in the bedroom while unpacking and was covered in what I assume was dog hair. Also if you bring a pet, check under the wardrobe in the bedroom as there’s loads of dog toys stuck under there too. Located on a noisy street which can’t be helped but expect to be woken up by the boat yard opposite at 6am and you will hear every person who walks past through the night as the windows are single glazed. Minus the mould the shower is good though, very powerful. Overall, for the price there’s a lot better places to stay in Whitby so I would look elsewhere.

Had a nice stay with my dog but it's a studio not a one bed apartment.
Not much room between bed and table so have lovely bruises on my thigh thanks to the bedpost corner. Flooded the bathroom as no instructions left as to which tap worked which shower head. Could have done with an eye mask as the overhead light was on from dusk till dawn and the blinds aren't blackout ones. Read other reviews and took a digital indoor aerial with me which I stuck to the window. TV worked as normal after retuning to aerial setting otherwise you have to sign in to each app. The instructions were there for the TV but they didn't work as previous occupants had attached It to a laptop and not reset it. It was well equipped and short walk to shops and bus station and across the road from The Spa. Sam the caretaker was lovely. She sorted the problem I had with the central heating but then it had problems again. Only there 4 nights and it was warm anyway so didn't bother her again. Wouldn't stay again though.
