  Very comfortable cottage. Only 3 of us so it seemed very, very spacious but it would be roomy even if there were 5 or 6 of you. Conservatory and large dining kitchen contributed to the feeling of space. Excellent shower. Washing machine and a washing hanger in back garden. Also an indoor collapsible hanger. Comfortable beds. Super quiet location on the farm but only a 3 minute drive to Dalbeattie. Lots of nice walking nearby. Kippford is a nice small coastal village. Dalbeattie is a nice town. Good cafe. Nice meal in the pub. The small but ''packed with stuff'' Dalbeattie museum is very interesting. Spent about 2 hours in it. What a nice area overall. Unspoilt, ''undiscovered''. Castle Douglas is a nice town and New Abbey a nice village with a very good cafe. Sadly Dalbeattie FC were not playing at home during our stay. I would have gone. Did go to Queen of the South vs. Alloa Athletic on the day of our arrival. A ''seven goal thriller''.

  We loved this cottage we were allowed to arrive early thank you and received a warm welcome and a lovely starter pack from Rhona the cottage was one of the cleanest we stayed in well equipped, lovely and warm all within a short distance of Dalbeattie were you’ll find everything you need and friendly locals. After a day out walking looking for red squirrel 🐿 which we found thanks to Rhona’s information we would sit in the conservatory with a drink overlooking the hills and town it was just lovely thanks again and we will be back soon Steve & Viv

  We all loved it here, particularly our cocker spaniel who thoroughly enjoyed exploring the space around the lodge & all the lovely walks in the vicinity.

  The lodge is in a lovely peaceful location with Dalbeattie Forest on the doorstep, and just a short drive to other stunning places for walks on beaches and in the woods. The lodge itself was warm and very comfortable, and had everything that we needed for our stay. We particularly appreciated the little luxuries like the soft fluffy bath towels, robe & slippers. The towels & bed linen smelled lovely and fresh, and the beds were very comfortable. The hot tub was a huge bonus! We would absolutely recommend this lodge and would love to return here.

  First time in Scotland and Dumfries , The cottage was in a lovely location with lovely views ,not far from the sea .The cottage was spotless ,and comfortable we loved the conservatory to relax in .The garden was dog proof ,luckily the youngest in our party knew how to work the microwave and cooker .Fish and chips wonderful in Dalbeattie and we now know that there is a garden centre open on a Sunday where you can have refreshments and find toilets with a dog friendly area just south of Dalbeatie .Would certainly go again .Thank you !

  Swallow Cottage was a lovely place to stay. Very quiet and warm with everything we needed. We were very grateful that the owner let us store quite a bit of food in her freezer in the barn. The wifi was excellent and we were pleased to find that there was a mobile signal in the cottage so we could keep in touch with family. The only slight downside was that the bathroom is downstairs but we knew this before we booked. We would certainly recommend Swallow Cottage and hope to return there one day,
