What our customers say about their holidays

This is a lovely little cottage, very convenient for local amenities - pub right opposite & another a little further down the road ( this was great for food !
) , a Co-Op , and a couple of restaurants- not to mention the castle. Newport easily reached, only about 2 miles away. The cottage, is right on the high street, so can be a bit noisy with traffic during the day - but we got used to that ( we would rather be close to local businesses than in the middle of a field ) It was just the right size for the two of us to use as a base , kitchen had all the facilities we needed. Always great to have bath as well as shower. Good size double bedroom, and although mattress perhaps a little hard- I found it suited me. Clean throughout, and not the sort of musty smell youâd get from some properties . Lovely little garden & patio area to the rear. The few details I would change, however- I would have preferred a comfortable sofa , rather than the two bolt upright armchairs in the living room. Thicker curtains may have cut down the traffic noise particularly in the bedroom. The house was warm enough, and hot running water, bit slow - but plenty . Had trouble with TV , but having contacted the landlord ( Nick ) soon replied, spoke pleasantly regarding the issue ( which was down to us being impatient with the remote !) We would love to stay again, regardless

This is a beautiful, if expensive, holiday cottage.
However, I was EXTREMELY ANNOYED when I arrived and the floor of the double bedroom was soaking wet. The window has obviously been left open by the previous tenant; when we arrived all windows were closed. The cleaner must have known about the floor and I contacted the owner that afternoon. Nothing was done or said. For the first few nights I was stepping out of bed onto a WET floor, which then remained damp for a few days with a damp smell appearing. Had this been a hotel I would have been re- roomed. Iâm very disappointed that nothing was done and no compensation offered. This is unacceptable in a cottage costing over £1000. Sykes were very helpful but sadly the owner was not interested. Other smaller comments are that the App said there was hot tub and their wasnât; the clothes airer was broken and whoever thought it was a good idea to put a full length mirror on the bathroom door directly opposite the toilet clearly didnât sit on the toilet! I have used Sykes many times and had some lovely cottages but this one and the owner need to revisit customer service sadly.

We cannot fault our stay at 5 Yarmouth Cottages given the price charged for a 7 night stay.
The property is a modern built property and is furnished accordingly. The owners allow pets, therefore dog friendly. Some reviews mentioned the furniture being worn, however, whilst not new, is is what to be expected of a dog-friendly property in our opinion. The cottages, numbers 1-6, are located on a private driveway, set well back from other properties which is nice. They have small but private patio areas, and good car parking outside each cottage. The location is quiet, but close enough to amenities a short drive away. There is a local farm shop within walking distance, the walk-in entrance being opposite the private driveway. There were just the two of us and our English Bulldog. If I were to find anything amiss, it would be our cottage was not equipped with a vacuum cleaner (just a sweeping brush) to clean-up the 'Dudley's dog hairs before we left, which is something we like to do out of respect for others property. Chatting to the occupiers of Cottage number 6 next door, on us leaving, they did indeed have a hoover but not us in number 5.

We were very impressed with the holiday cottage.
Situated in a pretty little village with Lovely views looking out over fields. The cottage had all the mod cons needed with the added extra of a coffee machine! There was plenty of room for a family of 4. Some little points we thought weâd like to mention. Would be great to have a washing line or clothes airer to hang wet cloths. The pillows on the beds were flat as pancakes - we had to buy extra to make them work! Although the cottage was clean and tidy, attention to detail would elevate this property to excellent - dead flies in the light shade in bathroom. Limescale around plug hole in bathroom. Mirrors all streaky. Lamp shades in bedrooms all croaked. Towels were too small - bath sheet better than a bath towel. Cheap bedding. An investment into bedding and towels would be a bonus. Such a shame these littles things are added to this review but first impressions really do count! All said it was a great cottage and based just where we needed to be. The points above did not spoil our holiday just a recommendation.

This is a lovely little cottage in a pretty setting.
It is well equipped and has a lovely outside area for a dog, however it is not enclosed as described so your pet could wonder off if inclined. I found the sofa a little uncomfortable as it's deep and the back cushions weren't very firm, but there was a few lose cushions that could be used for back support. The downstairs bedroom and toilet/ shower room was great for my elderly mother and the loft room with a double bed was spacious and comfortable. Some limited head room over the sink and bath but descent shower in the downstairs bathroom. The cleaners had missed a few cobwebs but overall the cottage was clean and tidy. Freshwater is a small town but it has a petrol station, large Tesco and a lovely pub serving food as well as a chip shop and a couple of other food outlets. You do need to drive to get to attractions but it is very handy for the ferry crossing in Yarmouth which is a few mins drive away. The owner was very friendly and welcoming, I would stay here again!.
