What our customers say about their holidays
Lynda - Verified booking
Unfortunately I have tried several times to send this email to you but it has bounced back.
We left the property Thursday, a day there would be time to get some of these problems sorted. I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter and what goodwill you intend for a ruined holiday due to inadequate inspection of a supposedly âoutstandingâ property. âHaving just called your colleague at Sykes. This is the email that you should have received.â âOur holiday - not outstanding!! Before your next guests arrive, you need to address a few items which I list below that we have found defective and very annoying after looking forward to our holiday for nearly a year. On previous holiday weâve had for two consecutive weeks, weâve had the option of a clean midway through and beds changed, plus clean towels, tea towels, etc. no email was received about this. 1. Dishwasher needs cleaning. We donât intend to spend our long awaited holiday cleaning someone elseâs dishwasher. On arrival had to hand wash mugs, etc before using the ones already in the cupboard. When running the dishwasher with our first load of dishes, they came out with bits all over. So weâve had to wash up by hand for our holiday. Not something we do at home. 2. Tumble Dryer not working. Went to tumble dry some wet clothing and the Tumble Dryer just buzzes loudly and doesnât tumble. Tried several times. Needs attention or replacing. Ended up having wet clothing hanging everywhere due to bad weather. Not great when we thought weâd have this facility. 3. The Sony TV in the lounge is so ancient, you have to wait for the picture to come through before a fuzzy picture comes on the screen. A sign itâs just about to pack up completely. Thought there would have been one Smart TV here. I recently bought a second hand one for £30. Very disappointed. 4. The house cleanliness is not good mould, etc. 5. The TV in the twin bedded room didnât seem to work and must be at least 20 years or more old. Bought one of these in 1980s. 6. Taps are wrong way round on some facilities. I believe by law the plumbing should have cold on the right and hot on the left. This was so poor sighted people donât burn themselves. For the cost of the holiday, weâre expecting far more. The house very antiquated. Yes we could have reported earlier but we didnât want to have to wait in for trades people to come and fix the problem during our holiday or let them in whilst we were away from the property. You would have had to pay us £10 an hour for wait time. Very disappointed. On arriving we couldnât get out of the back door as the wrong keys had been left. The key on the conservatory was stuck and wouldnât turn. Fortunately a trades guy was sent by you who fixed this problem fairly quickly but we had two dogs in the car that needed to get in the garden and stretch their legs. The fan light in top bedroom needed a part which we were told would be fixed. It still needs fixing. We couldnât open until your tradesman. The back gate was bolted so there was no way of gaining entry there or from the back door (no key) or the conservatory (key stuck). The metal garden furniture is rusty and should be removed. The path to the back garden is very steep and loads of trip hazards. Anyone children, elderly etc. who is a little unsteady, for whatever reason, it is dangerous. Wouldnât recommend it for anyone with disabilities. The overflow by the kitchen door has been dripping constantly and has proceeded to get worse since weâve been here. Needs attention. Cold tap on basin in twin bedded room, no water. Access to the front of the property is extremely poor with three steep steps curving round, so one side of the tread is non existent. The photos of the property and garden are misleading. Monday 12 September, the lights in the lounge keep fading and going out, making us feel unsure of the safety of the electrics.â Regards, Lynda Skinner

Gabrianne is a pleasant holiday let which we found to be spacious, clean and well equipped.
Pretty much your standard holiday let weâd say. Itâs well located for exploring the area and has a couple of decent pubs a short walk away. We only used the two double bedrooms one of which was of was of adequate size but the smaller one was a tighter squeeze. The beds were very comfortable. The twin beds and bunk beds were not used so canât comment on them. We did note though that two of the rooms lacked adequate facilities for hanging clothes which would be a helpful improvement. The kitchen was fitted with modern units and appliances with plenty storage space for groceries. There was lots of cutlery, crockery and ovenware (although one or two oven trays could do with replacing as they were a bit tatty). A huge fridge and a separate small freezer (but perfectly adequate for most holiday needs we thought). The conservatory is a pleasant place and which we used in the main. Had the weather been cooler then the lounge would also have been a comfortable space. The dining room (open plan to the lounge) with a good sized table was also up to the job. There was plenty of information available about the local area and a good library of maps which we made use of. Thereâs also enough entertainment technology to suit most needs. The rear garden is a good size and private with open fields beyond. However, given Dorset is one of the prettiest parts of the country, it does lack some real TLC. Itâs pretty much just a âcloverâ lawn with a few bedraggled plants hither and thither. With just a little more care to make it a more attractive area it could be a huge asset to the property! It probably suits families with children or dog owners as it wouldnât suffer too much damage though so maybe thatâs the reason? We had a problem with the cold water supply to the bathrooms and previous occupiers had also commented on this. The water was literally just âdrippingâ out of the upstairs taps when we arrived. Dream Cottages arranged for a plumber to attend, which he did, but in the meantime we discovered the cold water feed from the cold tank in the loft had been turned off. When turned on the cold water flow was sufficient and perfectly acceptable but it is not direct from the mains (as it is in the kitchen) and also not potable (only the kitchen is potable). Weâd suggest this should be pointed out in the information file for the house. Overall, a good holiday let. Thank you.

A beautiful property and some nice touches such as home baked cake and fresh flowers but some overriding disappointments.
On arrival, we received a text to say the TV remote in the main house was lost so we couldnât use the main TV. We had a short look and found it straight away down the back of a sofa. It clearly hadnât been looked for. On looking for it, we were horrified at how dirty the sofa (under and behind the cushions were - crisps, debrisâ¦it was filthy and if it had been hoovered the remote would have been easily found). It clearly had not been cleaned for a very long time. The floor underneath had also clearly not been swept. We found an old dirty sock underneath. Throughout the property there are some lovely big windows and bifold doors. These were filthy! Covered in so many handprints that you could hardly see out. Throughout all 3 properties the level of cleanliness was very bad. Cobwebs everywhere and flies (multiple flies) in many of the rooms. On Saturday, we couldnât make the hob work on the main range cooker. On contacting the owner, they said they were sorry, but it looked like that the gas had run out and they couldnât get any delivered during our stay. So we could not use the main 7 ring hob in the big house AT ALL. There were 17 of us and we needed that to cook big family meals. We were told by the owner to make do with using the shoddy very old fashioned cookers that were in adjoining cottages. This was unacceptable. Very disappointed for the money we paid.

Newfield farm cottages is honestly the perfect place to go to if youâre planning a large gathering and want a place where you donât have to worry about noise!
Itâs set well away from any other properties and the owner Anna has been so laid back leaving us to do our own thing. We had a large group of 16 people and the place is enormous! It has so much space you never felt like you were on top of each other- to tell you the truth it was that big some of the rooms we didnât even use! Looking at other properties around this size price wise we couldnât believe how good it really was! Rooms were very clean and tidy and everything was well equipped for what you would need towels, plates, bowls etc. lots of tvâs in main living areas and games room. Lots of seating and plenty of places to walk around the site too. Really hard to pick any issues out but if I were to say anything Iâd only mention the road leading up to the cottage. Itâs very rocky and you have to drive very slowly especially in my little fiesta! Though this would in no way put me off booking again as the place is fantastic! Thank you Anna for having us and we will be keeping you in mind for any stays in the future

We had a great stay at Kelly Bray.
We appreciated the space and the warmth, and the short distance into town and to the beach. Our three young kids had a great time, and we would happily recommend it to others. Comments not for publication, as they can probably be easily resolved: the main (new) shower was temperamental and didn't always work, with water sometimes only flowing when the sink taps were turned on/off; the radiator under the front window in the twin room was always very hot, even though we turned the valve to zero; the lack of drawers to store clothes in the first-floor double room (by the new bathroom) was inconvenient; we tried a couple of the old board games but pieces were missing; there is only one huge chopping board - a smaller one would be helpful too; there was little space in the kitchen to store food except on the windowsills and the shelves under the window in the larder; the information in the sitting room on bin days was mixed - twice it says bins on Monday, twice Friday - I had to check online to get the right info.
