What our customers say about their holidays
Mrs Grindley - Verified booking
After several emails and phone calls to your company throughout the week regarding our dissatisfactory stay at The Pines, I am emailing to make a formal complaint with the issues we experienced and the lack of resolution. I would like to mention that the bedding and towels were lovely, and we had plenty of hot water throughout the stay. Cleaning - Poor cleaning throughout the property including dust and cobwebs, finding a pizza in the microwave on arrival, old/used coffee pods in the machine. Hot tub - information booklet states the hot tub should be cleaned x3/week. It was not cleaned during our stay. This is a significant health issue, and we now worry the hot tub was not cleaned prior to our stay between guests. Coffee machine - this broke towards the start of our stay and tripped a fuse. We were advised by the company to stand on a plastic bar stool to switch the trip back on. This is an entirely inappropriate suggestion, not knowing the make up or abilities of our group and not taking into account our health and safety. No coffee pods were provided as per the Information booklet. We did eventually receive a new coffee machine, however this was also faulty and leaked water. Dishwasher - this broke towards the start of our stay and was not fixed. Only x2 tea towels and a bathroom hand towel were provided by housekeeping at the start of the stay, and we only received additional materials to wash up with on Thursday after having to request these. We have spent countless hours of our holiday washing up, for 8 people minimum x3 per day. Fridge - faulty, freezing our food despite being at reasonable temperature. This is a food safety issue and subsequently we had to throw food away, we expect the approx cost of this to be at least £200 across the week - including raw and cooked meats, fish, cheeses, dips, milk, fruit/veg, yoghurts etc. A maintenance company attended on Thursday, the issue was not fixed. Games room - no heating, and therefore not usable at certain times of the day due to being so cold. We did not accept the box of chocolates sent by the company, as we quite frankly found this offensive given the amount of issues and lack of resolution we experienced. We have holidayed in self catering properties for many years, and unfortunately this experience has been very disappointing.

The cottage is great - completed to a very high standard and very clean. We visited the local pub at the end of the road which was lovely and the staff extremely friendly. The milk shed opposite was nice offering fresh milk, eggs, honey etc. The park opposite was great for our dog, she loved going over there for a run! We also had a lovely walk up to Paxtons Tower, lovely views over the area. However, we were very concerned that the back boundary fence was quite low and contained 2 rows of barbed wire! considering this is supposed to be a dog and child friendly property we felt this was a huge safety issue. If not remedied there will be a nasty accident for either a dog or a child. There are sheep in the field at the back of the property and this makes that boundary very interesting to a dog! There was also a significant gap at the end of the fence separating it from next door (Cliftonville House) - we blocked this off with a wheelie bin and next door wasn't occupied so not a huge problem but it will pose a problem when the 2 properties are rented out at the same time. When we arrived it was a hot and sunny weekend - there was no shade in the garden - we would recommend a patio umbrella or canopy. We also would have appreciated knowing in advance that logging was taking place on the nearly hillside - at 7.30am each morning we were woken up by chainsaws and heavy machinery - we appreciate this is beyond the property owners control but i think a notice on the booking site making people aware of this would have been appropriate and courteous. I assume at some stage this will cease but for now it is a nuisance! No welcome pack which was a shame :( - it would have been a nice touch. If these issues are addressed we think it would a lovely holiday rental.

WOW, what an amazing property that all 10 guests fell in love with and didn't want to leave, youngest being 17 and the oldest 77. We booked this holiday home to celebrate my daughter's 21st birthday and this property delivered from the moment I booked to us leaving the property. Great communication with owner from the off. All the rooms were amazing, clean and thought out. Plenty of space and areas for people to be together but also have space. View from the garden........I could wake up to that every morning. Whilst there we used the kitchen which had everything we needed, we even managed homemade pizzas and also a full roast dinner for 10. Lovely little pub up the road which a few of us visited, didn't eat there but dad said the food looked amazing and a recreational ground opposite which we had a family game of rounders in. Have already recommended it to family and friends and will definitely be returning for other family gatherings. It felt like a home from home and the beds are amazingly comfortable which is a bonus. Can't wait to return.

Heritage is a beautiful property, which with a couple of tweaks could be perfect.
The points to note would be :- Instructions for the oven, TV and Hot tub would be great. Mats at the patio door entrances - just to help wet feet/paws from wetting the floor as much Some sort of coffee machine or cafetière would be a great addition. Extra pillows for the beds would be great too - by this I mean different firmness - the beds/pillows and bedding were all lovely, however the pillows are all very very soft and therefore, were not great for us personally. Slightly marked down for cleanliness due to the kitchen cupboard doors being quite dirty and the insides of the wardrobes/drawers were also quite dusty. Overall we loved the property and its position - was a shock at first to find out it was behind the service station, but once you were in it didnât matter at all. We will certainly be back and are already looking at dates for next year

We found Green Grove Barn a perfect place to stay.
It had everything we needed and being out in the country it is so quiet and peaceful. The 'WOW' factor of the house is the wonderful view from the lounge and its balcony of the lake, fields and hills. When we visited, the Barn had not been open long and all the âwhite goodsâ were brand new and sparkling clean. The rooms are spacious and are beautifully decorated with plenty of storage space. The kitchen has everything you could ever need. Kathy and Peter were so friendly and welcoming and the information file they provided was excellent with not only details of the house but also suggestions of places to visit and local walks. We couldn't have wished for better accommodation.
