What our customers say about their holidays

Staying at Little Westwards for our Easter break was an absolute treat!
Melanie and Mel are such wonderful hosts and nothing was too much trouble, with Melanie ensuring that every aspect of our stay was perfect. Our family agreed that accommodation at Little Westwards is the best self-catering we have had the pleasure of being able to enjoy, so much so, that we had re-booked for October half term only a couple of days into our stay! In an extremely quiet village and with plenty of outdoor and parking space, you are immediately struck by the location on arrival, which really is the ideal base for exploring and even cycling from. (Thank you for storing my bike in the garage, Melanie!) Everywhere outside is very secure and our Cockapoo, Rosie, loved the freedom of being able to roam. The accommodation itself was immaculately clean and beautifully appointed yet felt so homely and welcoming. The fudge and welcome treats (including a fabulous dog toy!) were a lovely touch, with even a personalised card from Melanie for our arrival. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need to enjoy family meals and plenty of space for a weekâs shop. As a family of four, we loved having two bathrooms, with their own hot water tanks for baths and showers â so useful! The beds were extremely comfortable and we loved our week so much we didnât want to leave. We are very much looking forward to coming back to Little Westwards and planning our next adventure. Thank you so much Melanie and Mel for making us so welcome and for allowing us to enjoy your accommodation.

Owners, Melanie and family were once again very welcoming.
(It was our second stay with them.) They accommodated my elderly mother (92) by putting in a high-backed firm chair for her (as the main sofa is soft and squishy for relaxing in). Lots of lovely welcome gifts for us and dog. Very helpful with advice about area. I could see where they had made improvements from a few moths ago, e.g. new oven, radiator, door lock, dog bed and even ordered a coffee maker after I enquired if there was one there. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are keen to do their best to make you comfortable and have a great time. Cottage is well appointed and garden is secure for your dog. Comprehensive information pack in cottage on places to visit and eat at, walks, and manuals for equipment, e.g. new radiator. Only did small smile for comfort as my husband and I had a little back ache in the regular double bed, but that's probably just us! My mum was very comfortable in the big bed. Otherwise, very comfortable in the cottage, with everything you need. My husband liked the little touches like Arran Aromatics hand soap and moisturiser in the bathrooms. Great base for local area, super quiet village with local walks and lots of places nearby to visit, e.g. gardens, walks, restaurants. So many places are dog-friendly too, including Seal Sanctuary at Gweek. We can't wait to come back again!

1. Tried to book the holiday online with many attempts over two days.
Site locked up on the payment screen. Rang to book which was not straight forward and was surprised that I was dealing with Sykes and not Cornish Cottage Holidays. This could account for my Banks reluctance to pay. 2 The directions to the Cottage were wrong and did not direct us to the Cottage and we had to ring the phone number provided to try and find the cottage. We were surprised to find that we were talking to someone in the North of England who was initially reluctant to help âas she did not know the areaâ After persistence on our part she did manage to direct us. 3 On entering the Cottage we were greeted with a very damp and musty smell. Fortunately, we cleared this by opening all windows, but we could not remove the musty smell from the bathroom all week which made it uncomfortable. 4. The entrance and egress from the road to the cottage caused the car to bottom and damaged the underside. (We are awaiting a report from a garage and this could result in a claim) We spoke to people in the other cottages, and they said their agent had warned them of the hazard and advised them to enter from the other direction which we did with no problem. This all said the Cottage its self was excellent and location was good but obviously more care was needed.

We had a great stay.
It's a small property, but has everything you need and the owners are really helpful; on hand if you need them, but not if you don't! Many lovely 'extras' provided and quality bedding, sheets etc. The listing called the property an apartment, which was confusing, but we rang to query this as we wanted a cottage not an apartment (which we thought of as wholly contained within another building). It turned out it is really a separate,self-contained, semi-detached part of the owners' home. Unless I had queried this, we probably would not have booked the property, which would have been a shame. The comfort score is only a '4' because the beds were rather too firm for me (issues with my back). If you like a firm mattress, this is no problem at all. One other comment; there was milk, tea and coffee when we arrived and a lovely bottle of wine, but a small loaf and some butter would have helped as we had to pop out for that as soon as we arrived. (This has been pretty common in other cottages we have stayed in). However, we were sent a list of what would be in the welcome pack, so we should have realised!

Hearing the sound of horses hoofs walking past, the darkest skies you can imagine (at night, no light pollution), the place is very tranquil.
Everybody we met there were very pleasant and happy to talk. Exceptional welcome pack, even included fresh milk in a jug which was a nice touch. Has all you will need for your visit, even a garden hose so you can wash your car down after the Cornish roads. Washing machine and dishwasher fitted, really nice induction hob and large fridge freezer for all your needs. Overall the pictures do not give it justice, we thought we were coming to a small shed like structure, but wow, when you walk through the front door, its totally huge, enough heating to heat the ice caps if you do get cold. And a private garden area large enough for many. the worse part for us was that we had to leave, we could totally have lived there. Perfect in every detail, and they paid attention to detail when they renovated it and kitted it out. am already in talks with the family who live close by to come visit again. travel lodge or premier inn?? no thanks, this will be the first place we look for now.
