What our customers say about their holidays
David - Verified booking
Directions to property need to be corrected.
Should say A497 to Morfa Nefyn, not A487. Also, the location of the owners' property for key collection is confusing; it says "opposite", but we took this as opposite the holiday property itself on the driveway (where there is a bungalow). They actually live on the opposite side of the road, so it would be better to say "opposite the fish and chip shop" The property is very spacious, comfortable, clean, well-maintained and well-equipped. The location is superb, within very easy reach of a wonderful coastal walk and a secluded beach and nice pub. Morfa Nefyn is also well placed centrally on the Llyn Peninsula, with easy access to larger towns and villages such as Pwllheli, Porthmadoc and Criccieth, as well as the more remote beaches and coastal areas of the western end of the peninsula The neighbouring fish and chip shop is not an issue. Noise levels are not great and it's only open for a limited time in the evenings and, when out of season, it's not open every night. The only negatives were: - - The lack of instructions on how to operate the various heating appliances; the owner gave us an extremely brief overview, so it was a case of working it out for ourselves - a quick 1-page "How To" guide would have been useful as it could also have included other information, e.g. bins/recyling arrangements, key handover on last day etc. - There was no visitor book. We have always found these to be useful for picking up tips and advice on the local area from previous visitors - No tourist information leaflets; again this can be useful when you're visiting the area for the first time. - A small welcome pack would be appreciated - such as milk, maybe some local produce etc.

Firstly, we have to say the location of the property was superb for our needs.
Unfortunately, the cottage had a "not very clean feel" as soon as we walked in. We weren't sure what it was, as the cottage on first impression was very well presented, taking into consideration the age. Our initial feel about the property was unfortunately confirmed during our stay. The first thing that came to light was when we removed a shelf from the fridge to fit in the provisions we took with us, and we noticed an open carton of almond milk, and more disturbingly mould growing on the back of one of the shelves. Then whilst siting in the lounge we noticed quite a few "bits" on the floor (but unfortunately we couldn't address this as we were unable to get any of the vacuum cleaners to work); and when we removed the bin liner from the kitchen bin on leaving, the bin had obviously not been washed for a while. The bed was very comfortable but when we stripped the bed on leaving, I noticed the mattress protector and duvet were both stained. We didnât like the large rug in the bathroom and felt that the tiles were more hygienic, but we appreciate that these may become slippery when wet. It would have been useful to have cleaning products and cloths etc in the bathroom to clean the bath after use. On the subject of cleaning products, the bare minimum left for our use i.e. one washing machine tablet, a tiny bit of washing up liquid in the bottom of the bottle, the same for the handwash and one loo roll just smacked of miserly. For us the attention to detail by the cleaners, and the measly provisions let this property down.

This cottage has the potential to be exceptional.
It's very dark and cosy, which for December was great. It's tucked away without a drive, but we found the on road parking to be absolutely fine. We really enjoyed reading about the property's history, which was included as part of the welcome information. We appreciated the firewood for the first fire, and the sparkling wine in the fridge was a nice touch. There is a well stocked Spar down the road, and it is very close to some stunning beach walks. Communication with the owner was great when we couldn't find the immersion switch for the hot water - friendly and very helpful. If you are considering this cottage, though, know that you will need to bring *everything* with you. There was one toilet roll, one tea towel, one bin liner for the small kitchen bin, no hand soap, no hair dryer (not great to discover that right before a brisk beach walk in December!), no heater in either of the bedrooms. The single tea towel quickly became smelly because there is no central heating so therefore no radiator to dry it on. Many holiday lets we have stayed in have everything you need to make it a home from home - this isn't one of those properties, so just bear that in mind. Finally, for dog owners: the garden is not connected to the cottage. It is totally separate, so letting your dog out for a wee before bed or in the middle of the night isn't an option - you'll need to put their lead on and take them out. Overall a very cosy cottage full of character and history, it just needs a bit more attention to detail.

What a lovely little gem of a property!
Away from it all, but near enough to the beach (1 mile) and the local shops/cafes. Really quiet other than the natural countryside noises and a total sun trap when the weather is nice, which it was all week. Some have commented on the lane going to the property which is indeed narrow, but its perfectly negotiable and I never actually encountered another vehicle when driving. For info I drive a 4x4 so unless you're trying to drive down a lorry I think you'll be ok. Perfect for walkers, with me and the dog clocking up over 90 miles in the week. The local pubs can get VERY busy on the weekend in summer as can the beach, but there are much quieter ones further afield in the car. The house is west facing, so can get VERY hot in the sun so best keep the curtains closed. It would benefit from blackout curtains in the bedroom such as those in the lounge but I guess this is down to personal preference. Please note there is also no washing machine here, so get your elbow grease ready for the handwash! Alternatively there is an laundry in the village. Hosts are tremendous and couldn't do enough. Local amenities are grand, including an emergency visit to the vets who couldn't help enough. All that remains to say is diolch!

The cottage was in a fantastic location and the local scenery was beautiful.
Loved the duck pond. However on arrival we weâre slightly disappointed that there was no welcome pack and the cottage wasnât as clean as it should have been. Long dead spider in the kitchen and the bin was dirty. Also we did experience a leak on our first morning from the upstairs bathroom to the dining room. A plumber was called out by the owner and arrived mid afternoon. He told us the sealant around the bath/shower and the basin needed replacing so hopefully when that is done no one else will experience the problem again. The bathroom did smell very musty. We also thought it would benefit from having a roller blind attached to the window for extra privacy. We also struggled to work the microwave, oven and hob because there was no instructions in the property for them. Again it would be really helpful to have a folder with a set of instructions on how to use certain equipment and also where and when to recycle and dispose of rubbish etc Overall the cottage was very comfortable and is in an ideal location , just needs abit more help and guidance for its guests and some TLC
