What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage is Nestled down a side street off the main road, parking outside is achievable but u need to tuck your car right in, but fine and quiet.
There is a dog friendly pub just a couple of doors away with warm welcoming staff. Close to all towns amenities. The cottages itself was immaculately clean with extra special touches. The kitchen is separate from the living area and has a gate/door on which was perfect for our dog as he could sleep in his bed in the kitchen, without trying to sneak upstairs. The settee is one with no back just lots of scatter cushions they are plenty of cushions, however it was difficult to get comfortable at times. ( as mentioned previously) Wouldnât be suitable for very tall people or guests with reduced abilities as very low. ( Iâm 5ft 11 and struggled) Fabulous cottage and location just be mindful of the settee, there is another two seater settee in the property ( under the stairs) better suited for getting out of but you canât move this to enjoy the lounge as the main settee is large and L shaped. 10/10 for location cleanliness and decor

Enjoyed our stay at the cottage.
Facilities fine. A few minor issues on maintenance I would draw the ownerâs attention to: Several of the radiators didnât get warm. They may need bleeding. Additional plug in heaters enabled us to keep warm. The shower waste pipe didnât drain as fast as it should and the shower tray threatened to overflow so had to keep turning the shower off. The frying pan didnât have a flat base which meant it wasnât very compatible with the induction hob. We struggled with the key safe on arrival. Rang Sykes but response was poor. Repeated efforts with the keysafe revealed we werenât pressing both buttons, so our own error. On a previous booking, I had a problem I wished to discuss. When I rang Sykes number the response was quick, but when it was established that this was not an enquiry about a new booking I was diverted to another number. After 45 minutes I gave up. Eventually I succeeded in contacting the owners directly.

We had a lovely week at Rue Hayes Farm cottage with our 4 year old & 2 dogs. The location is quiet with beautiful scenery right outside the door. Really nice welcome pack on arrival & dog treats, toys, poo bags and blankets and bowls for our furry family members. Owners were helpful suggesting nice places to visit with our daughter and dogs in tow. A highlight for our 4 year old was being able to meet an orphaned lamb, the horses and the friendly sheep dogs. Kitchen was well equipped, with good range of appliances and a gas BBQ outside. Hot tub checked by the owners daily and much appreciated after a day out walking. Although we stayed in summer so didn’t use it there is a lovely wood burner that would be cosy in cooler months. Would highly recommend a stay at Rue Hayes Farm Cottage. We will definitely hope to return again.

We had a lovely New Years break at this cottage.
On arrival it was decorated with lights, a tree and other festive items which was a lovely touch. Cottage is well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine and a very well equipped kitchen a good size fridge freezer too. Owners have provided lots of local information and maps for visitors to look at to plan their stays. Longnor is a lovely village and lots of surrounding things to do, we were treated to seeing the Northern Lights on new years day too. A previous review has mentioned parking being tricky, but we had a discovery car and managed to fit that into the space outside, was tight but we did it, there's also parking available further down the street if people do worry. We are hoping we can return soon, was a lovely stay , we didn't want to return home.

Beautiful property in a perfect setting.
We booked the Lodge for our grandson's first birthday celebrations. 6 adults, the birthday boy and our 2 dogs had a wonderful week. Communication with the owners was excellent. John greeted us and filled the bird feeders, which are located adjacent to the lounge window. The feeders were quickly mobbed by beautiful birds and cheeky squirrels, much to the delight of our grandson and adults alike. The Lodge was furnished and equipped to a very high standard. It was clean, cosy and very comfortable. Home made cake and Prosecco was a lovely gift from the owners. Would highly recommend this Lodge to anyone who needs a peaceful break in the middle of unspoilt spectacular countryside
