What our customers say about their holidays
Dawn - Verified booking
It was lovely and quiet and peaceful during our stay at the lodge.
It was Modern and very well presented and spacious. The lodge is situated in such beautiful surroundings. It has a well equipped kitchen with everything you need and an ample size fridge and freezer where we cooked some lovely evening meals. There is a large Tesco not far away for anything you may need. We had an evening meal in the on-site restaurant which was excellent. You need to book in advance. If you like a takeaway they're available locally too. The site is an ideal base for seeing what the area has to offer. We had beautiful weather for September and we found so much to do during our stay. Ingleton waterfalls trail was a wonderful day out and definitely worthy of a visit but be prepared for a lot of walking to get round one of the routes, but it's so worth it. The waterfalls are stunning. Crazy golf at Greenlands was fun and less than 5 mins drive from the site. Warton Crag Local Nature Reserve is less than 10 mins away. Rspb Leighton moss is less than 15 mins drive. Lakeland Wildlife Oasis is just over 5 mins drive away and is a fabulous place to visit. There is so much to see both inside and outside. There are organised talks throughout the day and the staff were very knowledgeable. The snow leopards were a real treat to see. Lancaster Castle is around 20 minutes drive. We booked onto a tour which was very good. Morecambe Bay is just 20 mins drive also. We also took a boat ride tour from Windemere Lake visiting Ambleside and stopped off at the Windermere Jetty Museum which has a cafe and was lovely to sit outside taking in the glorious views. We also booked an extra small boat trip at the jetty museum, with personal guides which was excellent. The Lakeland motor museum was fabulous. There was so much to see, with gorgeous homecooked food and treats in the cafe too! We had a wonderful time at the lodge and have booked our next visit!

The garden is a mess.
More weeds than grass. I appreciate itâs been dry up there but thatâs no excuse. The back of the house is filthy with cobwebs and there are substantial overhangs from the trees behind the house. Could be a problem with kids.l mentioned all this last year and the year before. Yes this was our third consecutive stay. There wonât be anymore. The soap dispenser in the en-suite doesnât work, as the bottles have fitted such it is only possible extract a minuscule amount each push. The major fault was the gate. The catch is bent, so it flicks, which in turn make difficult to pull the bolt back. You have to lift the other gate to pull back the bolt anyway. The two âboltsâ the are meant to secure the gates to ground, donât. There are no metal rings in the ground to secure them. When windy the âsecuredâ gates blew open; even the top bolt came out. The house is meant to be pet friendly, which l would suggest should also mean safe for pets. To have a gate that can blow open, when there could be a dog in the garden, next to a busy road, is a disgrace. We bound a bicycle chain lock to make the gate secure. Do the owners ever inspect the property, or is that your responsibility? I would have thought that the cleaners would have mentioned it. Thankfully, we managed to have a great holiday, the weather was kind and house interior is fine.

Weâve spent a lovely four nights at Rose Cottage.
It was in a fantastic location in walking distance into the high street of Windermere . Decorated to a very high standard. The beds were incredibly comfortable . The property was cleaned exceptionally well and we had all the things we needed in the property for preparing our meals, fantastic oven , I need to get one of those for our house !We enjoyed sitting outside the first night in the sunshine on the patio eating our dinner . Wonderful hot showers , washing machine and tumble drier. Very comfortable lounge. The only minor little faults we found, that didnât effect our holiday in any way, were that the kitchen bin lid was broken so needed to be open by hand and half the toaster didnât work. There was a coffee pod machine which would have been great to use, so maybe some pods in your lovely complimentary basket in the kitchen ? And we noticed the kitchen window had dropped with a gap which if it was chilly would create a draft . But honestly those negatives are me needing to be really picky ! The entire house was a delight to stay in and I would love to come back again ! Highly recommend for a family .

I would have no hesitation in recommending Rose House.
The location is perfect, a pleasant easy walk between Bowness one way and Windermere the other. The house itself is one of the best laid out and decorated homes Iâve ever stayed in and I have stayed in a few. The owner has thought of everything, I couldnât even leave a single recommendation for improvement. The pub across the road is friendly and was a nice feature as it gets somewhat busy early evening and in the sun so you hear a nice buzz if sitting out on the garden terrace but is not noisy later on or rowdy and we were there with a Euros England game on - nothing could be heard inside the house. The car charger was an added bonus as there isnât an abundance of such facilities in this neck of the woods so was better than sitting in the Booths car park to charge (great supermarket by the way). Dog friendly too as is most of Windermere, we had no problems eating out well and going on boat trips with our pooch. We would return in a heartbeat and may even return to Windermere specifically because this house is there.

Fabulous cottage would definitely recommend or come back.
The only reasons Iâm not given it 5 stars are - the sealant around the bottom of the en suite shower room is need refreshed, the sun umbrella stabilisers need fixed and it could do with an outdoor area for drying clothes given it a massive garden if your staying for a week or two the washing is great but when the weather is so nice it would be great to hang washing out. Please donât think Iâm complaining this is not a compliment itâs what stop me giving 5 stars. We had a fabulous holiday and we had everything we needed for a great holiday. Garden great and full secure for children and dogs. Kitchen very well equipped. Bedrooms beautiful and comfortable the remote control fans a great idea. Have a separate WC from en suite and family bathroom is great. The patio area is lovely but it changes heights when it joins the path a bit of a trip hazard so we just put the wicker stools at the area to remind us of the height change. Great location and itâs been well thought out to have a great holiday.
