What our customers say about their holidays

Enfys is a beautifully decorated large home which feels very comfortable.
Indeed some of the photos donât do justice to the size of the rooms and the beautiful views onto the sea. Also the room arrangement is not adequately described on the spec as part of the house (the kitchen and the first king size bedroom with shower over bath) are part of an extended back to the house. The kitchen is really well equipped, very big, everything you need, plentiful crockery and with a utility room and downstairs toilet at the back. We did use both ovens but one door on the left hand oven did start to close on you whilst removing food so needed someone to hold it open to avoid burns (we learned the hard way). The bedroom above is down a long corridor but if you ignore this there is a turn on the landing and three stairs to continue up into the main house where the smaller double bedroom with walk in shower and upper sitting room are located. This upper sitting room is the nicest room in the house due to the light, sea views and recliner chairs in the windows, plus it has no TV which allows some peace away from the melee of the rest of the household - assuming no one is playing the table football! Up again is the beautiful master bedroom and en-suite with roll top bath. Up further âless deepâ stairs to the top floor are two kings, one twin and a bathroom. These rooms are a little smaller and the bath does not get sufficient hot water for washing leading some of our party to need to borrow others bathrooms. I note that this was discussed in an earlier review. The heating was great throughout the house and there were some blankets provided should anyone need to wrap up in the evening. Overall the light was lovely in the house and many old fixtures and fittings preserved which added to the overall feel of the house. I wouldnât recommend filling the house to capacity but it housed the 8 of us that could make it for Christmas very adequately. The house was wonderfully decorated for Christmas and there was a very welcome, welcome pack awaiting us on arrival. The owners couldnât have been more helpful and were very ready to offer text support. Being right on the sea front meant that we could all get out for a breath of fresh air even over the Christmas weather with some days of rough seas and others with sun and calm. Parking was busy (a lot had the same idea about Christmas by the sea) but we didnât have any trouble parking close to or beside the property. It will be lovely to return in the warmer months. Were it not for the hot water issue at the top of the house and the oven door I would have given 5* with no problem.

We took the apartment as an alternative because Sykes cancelled our original booking in Porthmadog the day before we were to take possession of it for a week.
You provided three alternatives, none of which were in Porthmadog. This particular apartment was some 30 minutes drive away. There was a beach in LLanbedrog 12 minutes walk away and 45 minute uphill walk back! Quite a trek carrying beach equipment! Lovely on the one sunny day we had though. I donât like to have to drive when on holiday but was forced to as we wanted to visit Portmeirion a short walk from Porthmadog. The property itself was an attic conversation. It was very nicely done with plenty of room and comfortable beds. The TV was much too complicated! All we wanted to do was turn it on without fiddling with several remotes. Three flights of stairs kept us fit I suppose! We didnât use the en-suite, or at least only in an emergency, as the macerator toilet was scary! The main bathroom had a dream of a drench shower, however and a beautifully deep bath. We needed a step ladder to operate the windows and happily found one in a cupboard. On arrival storm Betty was raging and the roof windows had been left open, so we had a bit of a flood to clean up and seating to dry with a couple of hair dryers. Also the kitchen tap leaks unless it is turned to cold when shut off - another flood to clean up! Walking was nice to Abersoch and to Pwllheli but taxis back were very expensive, £15 for 4 miles, and hard to come by. We tended to travel to Pwllheli where we could get a train to travel to Barmouth and beyond, so all was not lost.

A magical Christmas.
.. The moment we arrived was just an amazing experience, beyond our expectations. There were 4 adults and 3 children staying for an amazing Christmas time and this property didnât let us down. Walking in everyone was in awe, such a beautiful design and furnishing was of a very high standard throughout. We wished our 5 day stay was longer from the get go. We ventured out on Christmas Eve to the local pub (Glyntwrog - 5 minute walk) for a couple of merry drinks but couldnât wait to return. Christmas Day was unreal, the kids woke us up at 3,4 and 6am although we were just as excited. Theres so much space here, we were all playing games throughout the day, then switched to a movie on the huge TV. Turkey was perfect even if I do say so myself, really helped with the two double ovens and kitchen space to prepare everything. I canât praise this place enough, I wouldnât hesitate to book again...and I will! Will definitely recommend to friends and family to stay also. Thank you for making our Christmas 2019 so amazing, treasured memories we will never forget.

We throughly enjoyed our weeks stay.
Capel Mawr was very comfortable, furnished and equipped to a high standard. Only some minor attention to detail that we would like to point out for future benefit - The heating seemed to be on constant, even when we thought we had turned it off! The owner could save a fortune in heating bills if this was sorted out. Dusty bedside lamps. Sensor lights in bathroom turned off whilst in the shower / bath, which was inconvenient but made sure we left the door open to the bedroom for light! Would have been helpful to have had more tea towels, washing up liquid, kitchen roll, bin liners, unless you point out that guests should bring these along. Really only attention to detail, small issue that can be sorted, no major issues at all. Capel Mawr is a fab property which is well located for Snowdon, Llanberris, Forest walks, Betws-y-Coed, Portmeirion. Local chippy worth a visit for supper. Spice restaurant or takeaway recommended. Peak restaurant in Llanberris excellent but you need to book ahead. Plenty to do out and about, or just chill out in this lovely house.

Fabulously positioned house, and one of the best â decoratedâ we have ever stayed in!
Itâs facing a pebbly beach which was stormy most of our week, but the two lounges have beautifully placed chairs so you can dolphin spot from the windows. There is an amazing array of books about the area and relevant wildlife, huge selection of boxed games, and dvds ( adults and childrenâs). The kitchen is very well equipped. Huge dining room table, with smaller in kitchen. Great â master suiteâ with stand alone bath ( had trouble getting enough hot water to fill) but the grandchildren loved it. A small seating area out back. We had 3 cars and never had trouble parking outside for free. We loved Criccieth- a ârealâ village, not touristy, but with a fabulous chip shop and ice cream place in walking distance. Lots of stairs especially to the top 3 bedrooms to walk off the food!! Great and very generous welcome pack. Having 2 Lounges would suit mixed age groups ( toddler toys and snooker table in top lounge) but plenty of comfy seating for 10 of us in the downstairs lounge. Recommend this house!
