What our customers say about their holidays

We arrived late at night and where informed there would be firewood supplied, there was none.
We began to make a hot drink and found two cups with dried coffee in the bottom. We decided to wash the cutlery and crockery ready for morning and found the previous guest pots still in the dishwasher, unwashed. There were no dishwasher tabs. We were informed there was internet and traveling with two young teenagers, found no internet and no information regarding why or what issues had occurred to cause internet failure. The oven was unusable until it was fully cleaned and the trays left in there scrubbed. The following morning my wife spoke with the host. Michelle, explaining everything we touched in the kitchen was grimy, greasy and needed to be washed, as we checked the rest of the property we simply found more dirt. Even the trash bin had a bag of the previous guests trash at the bottom with a bin bag placed on top of this. Michelleâs response was â, Iâve got three children and itâs Christmas, my standards have dropped and I meant to contact you yesterday, but itâs being nuts.â she went on to say a satellite dish had come off the mountain and we should put the router in a carrier bag and hang it from the window on the outside. We found this did not work in the apple 16pro max or the Samsung galaxy phones but did work on the other tech, but did not work on anything once downstairs. The only reception received was upstairs. We asked the Sykes representative if we had to bring our own fire wood and was informed it is provided by the host, we were informed , a welcome pack is left by the host, there was nothing of a welcome not even a note apologizing that we had no internet or wood for a fire. The message left with Sykes regarding the internet was responded to within thirty mins by James and the host visited with a multi point charger so we could keep the router plugged in while hanging it out of the window. Why we were not informed the previous week to our visit tgat there were internet issues and we would not receive the same internet reception we may have reconsidered booking this property.

We loved Bryn Re!
We stayed for two weeks (with very unsettled weather). The location is fabulous - very remote and very peaceful, with glorious views to the south of Cadair Idris and the Rhinog mountains to the west. We were entertained each evening by a curlew flying around the house and even landing on a nearby fence post. Also the sound of sheep is about as noisy as it gets. Located at the end of a long (1/2 mile?) private drive the cottage is very remote and has lots of rustic charm. It is well furnished, with comfortable reclining chairs and sofa from which to enjoy the log burner (plenty of logs included by the owners). The kitchen and utility room has everything youâd need. We met both the owners who were very friendly and welcoming - nothing is too much trouble it seems. On arrival we found a welcome pack of essential supplies (enough tea, coffee and milk for the first evening) including delicious Welsh cakes and Bara Brith. If you enjoy a quiet stroll to the pub in the evening this is not the cottage to choose! But for relaxing, and peace and quiet, itâs wonderful. There is good hill walking nearby - Cadair Idris is only half and hour away. Good beaches too at Porthmadog and Harlech (only half an hour) and highly recommend a visit to Corris Slate Mine (also only about half an hour away). Thank you to the owners, Gwyn and Buddog, for making your lovely cottage available.

Enjoyed a great week at this well-appointed property with modern styling that nods to the past.
The reverse layout makes the most of the fabulous view from large raked window in the living area and there's plenty of room to chill out. Great location with easy access to the coast, and the walking trails that crisscross the Sychnant Pass are on the doorstep. A tip for other guests - the central heating is quite effective but remember, the heat rises and the reverse layout means it can get quite warm upstairs in the living area - adjust the radiator thermostats accordingly. Another tip is, if the oven (it's a lovely range) has been powered off, you'll not be able to do much until you've set the clock! This took me a while to figure out and it was only some time later that I found a manual for the range in a kitchen drawer (page 9 revealed the answer). I'd suggest this information is included in the welcome file along with a more detailed description of how to actually turn the central heating on, rather than the brief mention in the file that it's either on, manual or auto. We had the restful week in the peace and quiet of the country that we were looking for and we'd definitely return.

A good centre for exploring the Snowdonia National Park, both the mountains and the coastline.
We did meet the owners more by luck than anything else and they are very friendly and helpful. They do not live close by though, and are living about 5 miles away. The Cottage is therefore very remote, which in our case was fine. We loved the surrounding scenery. I would suggest that perhaps there could be a bit more information left in the cottage other than just the glossy pamphlets. Something on where best to walk, and on where to go to eat locally would be helpful. Broadband and phone signals worked OK though download speeds are not great as you might expect so far away from any fibre connectivity. No problem with web sites for places of interest or with email. The little track from the main road is fine for ordinary cars, and not difficult to spot once you have done it once or twice. Great for star gazing as no light pollution at all. Could clearly see the Milky Way. We loved this part of Wales and our stay in Bryn Re.

We liked the house and its location, perfect for exploring the towns around North Wales.
It was in a lovely area with some fantastic views. We stayed in this house with 6 people, 4 adults and two teenagers. What did we love? We loved the area, and its close proximity to Conwy and Snowdonia. It was lovely having a walk in the village. The log burner was fab. The fridge was great, perfect for a large family staying. In the summer I could see the back garden being a perfect site to sit outside. How would we improve our stay? The lounge area for 6 needed another sofa, we had to take a chair or two from the dining room to put into the lounge. There were just enough dinner plates for 6 but many were chipped. The lounge needed a coffee table or a next of tables so that drinks were not on the floor. The main bathroom plug needs attention as it leaks (you need to give it shove with your foot to improve the seal!). The second double bedroom would ideally be a room for a bunk bed and the twin room have the second double.
