What our customers say about their holidays
Julie - Verified booking
We stayed for 3 nights at The Snug, from 17th to 20th September 2021.
On arrival we were greeted by a young lady who was very friendly, and showed us to our parking bay, and spoke to us in regards to what we needed to know, for our stay. She also said that she was showing us around as the owners were away. The Snug was very clean, however the grass area had not been freshly cut, which I would have expected, prior to our arrival and the outside table was really dirty, and the chairs had not been washed down - they were dirty too, and covered in leaves. The Snug is advertised as âfinished to an extremely high standardâ, therefore I would have expected this - we thought that maybe because the owners were away, this was missed? We also found that there was no where for our cases. There were drawers under the bed, which were rickety, and hard to open, so we didnât use them. I also would of liked to have a full length mirror in The Snug (which would have been perfectly situated hung on the inside of the bathroom door). We also felt that there could have been shelves somewhere inside the bathroom, as there was nowhere to put toiletries, which we ended up leaving in our wash bags, which ended up on the little table each day - we just couldnât keep the place tidy and felt this is most defiantly a place to stay for no longer than one night, maximum two. The towels were very, very disappointing, they were quite small, and very hard/rough. Nice big fluffy towels would have been a nice touch. We also found no where to dry off towels and shorts/swimming costume etc (from the hot tub), therefore I would suggest an area for a clothes line, as this just made the inside of The Snug feel more messy. There were shutters on the windows, however nothing over the glass on the door, or the little window above the bed, therefore we couldnât really have the full lie in that we were hoping for. The most disappointing part for us was the bed/mattress - we found it really uncomfortable to the point where by day three, we were both struggling, and I ended up pulling a muscle in my neck/shoulder - there was only one pillow each too. Another pillow each should have been an option. We were all ready to make bacon sandwiches one morning, however when we pulled out the portable hob; we found no where to plug in, without removing the microwave from the built in area. The Snug is in a very private area, which is nice and the noise of the river/waterfall is nice to hear too, and of course the hot tub is lovely. We personally thought The Snug was too small for us, especially for a 3 night stay, and although that canât be changed; we did feel that there could have been some improvements to The Snug to make it much, much better - mainly the bed/mattress. Although itâs not advertised; we also feel that a welcome hamper, bread, milk (not just sachets), butter, jam etc would have been a lovely personal touch, which Iâve experienced in other micro homes - it wouldnât have cost much, and would be a lovely attribute that would make anyone smile :) This break was booked for my birthday, and although we made it nice, and travelled to different places; we were disappointed with certain aspects of our stay (as above). Our highlight was eating in the beautiful barn, just down from The Secret River Cafe, Longtown, and I urge anyone to go - itâs beautiful. There is nothing in Longtown itself, unless you need to use the SPA - i donât plan on returning there in a hurry unfortunately.

This was our 3rd time on this site as we love it here.
This lodge is fantastic but a couple of let downs unfortunately. The skylights in the bedroom really need blinds as being woke up at 7 am on holiday is not fun especially when staying a week. The hot tub had to be topped up every day because there seems to be a small leak and you would easily lose 4 inches of water whilst in it. They are now aware there is a problem. I had to wash some cupboard doors down because they had big splashes of orange coloured sauce on them and the oven had been cleaned but the oven door was covered in grease which we didn't realise and filled the kitchen area with smoke when we opened the door just from preheating it. The fridge underneath the fruit and veg drawers had puddles of water under them which got worse over the week so I had to keep mopping it up. We had to get the frying pan replaced and the tin opener because both were broken. Things like this should be checked when cleaning is done. There is also no cupboard space for food we had to move all dishes so we could just use a cupboard. And the cupboard wich contains glasses i couldn't reach at all and my husband struggled due to where it is by the breakfast bar which has no stools. We would not book this lodge again unfortunately but will return to the same site and stay in a different lodge.

Weâve stayed at this sight before in a different lodge and had a brilliant time.
Thought we would book again, this time we took our 8 month old daughter - as it states baby friendly. Due to the large skylights in the bedroom it was impossible to put her down for a nap in the day, definitely needs blinds. The flooring is lifting in areas, Iâm assuming where itâs getting wet from coming in after being in the hot tub, this made some areas rough/sharp so had to be careful with a crawling baby. The high chair provided was filthy, and made it difficult for us to clean as the food had been dried onto the fabric for some time. There was also large puddles of water under the sink behind the bin, which we hadnât noticed until taking the bin out when leaving. We ended up leaving a day early from our holiday, as we found it inconvenient with a young child and unable to take her for a pram walk locally without going in the car, as the place is just surrounded by stones - no tarmac. Definitely not somewhere I would stay again with a baby, but for the price and location it would be a lovely place to stay after some improvements.

We were a party of 5 ladies staying for a weekend in January 2025.
The lodge exceeded out expectations. It was warm, welcoming, comfy, and modern. The hot tub was piping hot and the views were outstanding. Aberfeldy is a 2 minute drive, however we walked there and back for dinner and drinks and it took around 15 minutes. There aren't any streetlights after you leave the town but we used the torches on our phones are were fine. The lodge itself is really well equipped and it had everything you'd expect. We didn't need to bring kitchen roll, food wrap, salt, pepper, tea or coffee, it was all there, including ice in the freezer. Lovely little touches were the shortie biscuits and prosecco in the fridge. We travelled during Storm Elowyn and although the road up is very steep, we managed it no problem, you just need to take your time. Not sure how I'd fancy it in the snow however. Overall we absolutely loved our stay and would come back in a heartbeat.

For a over £700 4 day get away you would expect a clean and fresh hot tub upon arrival.
Unfortunately that wasn't our case and we couldnt use it for a full day! It was super cloudy and full of what seemed to be fluff and lots of long strands of hair. (Fished out at least 20/30 strands) Asked sykes if someone could come out and clean it for us and within 20 minutes we had a maintenance man out cleaning it. He was actually really shocked at how dirty it was and he had to replace the water and filter as it was brown and slimey. The matteress in the master suite was unbelievablely hard too! We had a terrible night's sleep. For these warmer nights you should supply a cheap fan for the rooms as we were glued to the bedding each morning even with the windows open. All of those stated above put a sour taste in our mouths. its a Beautiful place where the lodge is Situated in but unfortunately we won't be returning.
