What our customers say about their holidays

A Lovely Stay with Some Room for Improvement We recently stayed at Yew Tree Farm for a hen weekend and overall, it was a delightful experience.
Theo was welcoming and even offered us a later check out which was very nice. The house provided a great space for our group, however, there were a few issues that need attention. 1. Broken Dishwasher Rack: Unfortunately, the dishwasher rack was broken. It made cleaning up after meals a bit challenging. We hope this can be fixed for future guests. 2. Faulty Sink Covered with Tape: We noticed that the sink had some issues and was covered with tape. While it didnât affect our stay significantly, it would be better if this were properly repaired as it makes the kitchen look a little untidy. 3. Washing Up from Previous Guests: When we arrived we noticed that the dishes from previous guests hadnât been tidied away. 4. Hot Tub Concerns: The hot tub felt gritty, and it seemed like the chlorine tablet hadnât dissolved properly. 5. Damp Smell in the Master Bedroom: A previous review also mentioned a damp smell in the master bedroom. Addressing this issue would greatly enhance the overall comfort of the stay. We also feel that it would be useful if one or two more of the rooms had twin beds instead of all being doubles. Despite these minor hiccups, we thoroughly enjoyed our time. We definitely recommend visiting the pub (The Bull and Butcher) which is across the green for a Sunday roast. We also visited Sunnyhill Vineyard which is a 30 minute drive from the house and had a really lovely time there. It is family run and they were very friendly and the alpacas a delight.

The house itself is wonderful.
Lots of space, great open plan kitchen dining living area. Rooms are all spacious and comfy, hot tub and garden are lovely. Local area is quiet but nice pubs and walks are a very short drive away. Hot water situation is quite tricky, especially with a house of 10 adults. Waiting 30 mins between everyoneâs shower is unreasonable and a lot of us had freezing cold showers only despite all showers being quick and no baths. The house is missing a few essential bits, we had no washing up liquid or dishwasher tablets or normal tea bags. Lack of bins for recycling inside the house. No handsoap in the upstairs bathroom. The kitchen equipment is also a little limited for a house of this size. We had 10 people staying and struggled when cooking, lack of pots / pans, bowls etc. The aga is also tricky, mainly as the dials have no numbers on them and they get burning hot when in use so itâs hard to select temps etc. Sykes as a booking agency are extremely difficult. Website is inaccurate and unhelpful, causing a major issue with my booking that I then had to pay extra for. Their phone options are unhelpful and they point blank donât respond to emails - I was told this on the phone. To the point where I had emailed repeatedly asking to speak to someone about my booking, had no response, and then had my entire booking cancelled.

Our stay was very special and absolutely perfect for a 30th birthday weekend getaway with our friends.
Even though it's a very large house, the whole place felt very warm and cosy and welcoming. The basket of goodies we received upon arrival was a really lovely touch and much appreciated. The house and grounds are absolutely beautiful, and we greatly enjoyed the added Christmas decor. The decoration on the Christmas trees were a little strange and haphazard but it was still nice to have them there! The kitchen was very well supplied which made cooking very easy, but we did have a number of issues with the dishwasher not working properly. We were unable to find a vacuum cleaner, though we aren't sure whether it was just difficult to find or if there wasn't one available on site. The starter for the wood burning stove was a nice touch as well, though it could have done with a little more paper/cardboard/ kindling and less plastic. Bathrooms and bedrooms were all very clean, tidy and spacious. Parking was occasionally shared with the farm during the week which wasn't an issue for us as the majority of our party arrived on the weekend once they left. A highlight was meeting the lovely cat from the farm who was very friendly and sweet. We would definitely come back again for a special occasion or cosy winter getaway. Thank you for a great stay!

Having just spent the weekend at Yew Tree Farm with family and friends, I can only highly recommend.
It is a huge house and beautiful gardens with a hot tub that was already for us on arrival. A welcome hamper was a lovely touch from the owner, as were the fresh flowers. He also allowed us an early check-in, which we were grateful for, as were all arriving from various locations. All the bedrooms are really spacious and comfortable. The bathrooms are clean with the added touch of soaps and hand creams with loads of towels. One downside is an extra, more central bathroom, would be an advantage, especially downstairs. We were having to share the ensuite one's but this didn't spoil our stay. The kitchen and conservatory were lovely and functional with the great airy and light dining room a perfect central area for all being together. Anyone wanting a bit of quiet time, the 'red' lounge served them well. I contacted the owner before arriving to ask if there were any fans in the property to which he promptly replied to say there weren't. However, he had obviously gone out of his way to obtain several and placed them throughout the house before our arrival! Thank you Yew Tree Farm for helping us having an amazing weekend and wouldn't hesitate in returning

Several things to point out.
1. Had to clear up previous peopleâs dogs mess from garden on arrival - not pleasant. 2. No blinds in bedrooms made it hard to sleep beyond about 5am 3. Garden not secure - had to find Wood and block areas off so that dogs could safely be in small garden area. 4. Dvd not working - contacting them, told us small tv broke last week. Had to go and buy an hdmi cable to get it working! (Could have told us this as wasted whole evening trying to sort) 5. Only bath towels provided - no hand towels! Stated 2 towels per person. 6. No oven gloves - had to go and buy! 7. Rubbish and recycling in terrible mess - we sorted it all out. Not been put out by previous people and flies everywhere! 8. WiFi not working - previous people moved booster box and it took a lot of messages and me fiddling about to get it working. Other than these things (many of which should have been checked before new guests arrived) we had a lovely week. House suited our needs.
