  Orchard Cottage is a "hidden gem" in the heart of the Derbyshire countryside.

  We have just returned from a fabulous stay at Orchard Cottage for New Year 2019/20. The cottage is immaculate and the owners Mike and Wendy have thought of everything you could possibly need to make your stay a "Home from Home" experience, and the food & proseco hamper on arrival was a lovely touch. The cottage is furnished to a very high standard and free WiFi. The log burner was on most of our stay and plenty of fresh wood to burn. New Years Eve in the hot tub was perfect, champagne and lots of laughter plus the hosts were entertaining with friends and had some excellent fireworks at midnight. The countryside is fresh and welcoming with some great walks, local pubs were good and Ashbourne is only 4 miles away with plenty of shops, supermarkets etc so you can stock up on food. This has everything you could possibly need for a relaxing break and a get away from the busy humdrum of life. We thoroughly recommend Orchard Cottage and look forward to booking another short stay soon.

  Wow, Wow, Wow.

  What an amazing cottage, probably the best we've ever stayed in. The place was immaculate and so well equipped, everything you could possibly want and more. Wendy and Mike were the friendliest, most welcoming helpful couple too, nothing was too much trouble. Our weekend visit coincided with snowy weather so the hot tub was fantastic, sitting, relaxing in there whilst the weather was freezing was just perfect. There was a beautiful welcome hamper to welcome us with luxuries and essentials which was fantastic. The cottage was super cosy too with central heating and a log burning fire, just was you wanted after a bracing walk. Derbyshire is a beautiful area, there's so much to do and so many wonderful walks so the cottage is ideally situated. Our 9 year old son came too and was delighted with the wi-fi and smart TV in the room, such a treat for him. We'll be back again later this year for a week this time as loved it so much.

  We have stayed in a number of cottages all across the peaks.

  This rates as one of the best. Mike welcomed us when we arrived and gave us a tour. It is clear that Mike and his good lady have left little to chance. The cottage is deceptively spacious. All of the rooms are a good size. I think it sleeps 5/6. Our friends had the double and we had the twin. We used the downstairs bathroom and were very impressed with the finish as well as the performance of the shower. The kitchen was easy to navigate and had plenty of cutlery etc. There was even a bluetooth speaker supplied for using outside with the hot tub, we made good use of both. As mike stated in his welcome email, do not expect your Satnav to get you to the location. My advice would be to call Mike when you think you're close. Some lovely pubs nearby too. We ate at the Crown and also the excellent Bowling Green Inn. Thoroughly recommended.

  We had a very warm welcome from the owners who greeted us upon arrival.

  They showed us how to operate the hot tub, boiler and kitchen appliances as well as giving us advise with regard to when was a good time to visit places we had chosen to visit. The welcome pack far exceeded our expectations and was more than we have ever received before. The cottage is in a lovely quiet spot but is well situated for visiting local places of interest. It was comforting to know that when you returned to the cottage you could relax in the comfort of its facilities or in the most welcome hot tub. This being all inclusive in the price. The owners went out of their way to say goodbye to us at the end of our stay to ensure that we had been satisfied with the accommodation as they hadn't seen us during our stay. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage and would have no reservations in returning again in the future.

  A beautifully finished cottage tucked away, well off the beaten track.

  The owners, Mike and Wendy, could not have been more helpful including cleaning our extremely muddy boots after the wettest, muddiest walk to Dovedale ever. The cottage was the perfect cosy place to come back to, light the fire, cook dinner in the extremely well appointed kitchen and jump into the hot tub to warm up! Everything had been thought of including a delicious welcome hamper, fuel and lighters for the fire, robes and slippers if required, towels for the hot tub in addition to bathroom towels, handsoaps/shampoo/conditioners and even a bluetooth speaker to use outside eating alfresco on warmer days or with the hot tub, which also had coloured lights to set the mood. We all had a fantastic stay and will definitely be back in hopefully drier weather.
