What our customers say about their holidays
Louise - Verified booking
The owners of Panteg Farm are very lovely and welcoming, they left us a lovely welcome basket of welsh cakes, fresh milk from the farm, a bottle of wine and some butter.
Overall we enjoyed our stay however there are some things that dampened our stay. Pro's- lovely large house with plenty of space, blackout blind in the babys little bedroom, enclosed garden safe for children, firestick for the tvs, owners let the kids come and see the cows being milked and the baby calves getting their milk and taught us all about the workings of the farm. Lovely big kitchen, undercover hot tub, washing machine and tumble dryer. Lovely new carpets inside, all cleaning products/cling film/foil were provided for us (aside from washing machine things). Cons- owners live in very close proximity to the house and overlooking the hot tub patio. Working dogs loose on site at times, on our last day one large dalmation ran up barking its head off at the kids who had just got out of the car and luckily were already on the other side of the gate, but it was then stood between the adults in the car with the baby and the gate entrance to the house. Flies- you are in the middle of a working dairy farm and the flies were something else. It was not nice in the kitchen even with the fly lamp. Had to keep all the doors and windows shut to keep the flies out, with the Rayburn/Aga on full blast the whole time the heat was stifling trying to cook. A lot if things around the kitchen needed fixing. The oven didn't close properly, the fridge door didn't close properly- the second fridge/freezer was wobbly and rusty. Sone essential supplies like baking trays and a large chopping board were missing, had to request pint glasses. We were only provided one tea towel for the week until more were requested. There was no access to spare linen which would have been handy with small children. Mattress in the main bedroom is a bit knackered and sagging, ended up with back ache every morning. Net curtains were thrown over the tops of the curtain rails in the bathrooms, bathroom cupboard doors were falling off its hinges. Jacuzzi bath had all of its jets disabled and the metal edges were all peeling. No shower head for rinsing. Hot tub outside was nice but all the chemicals were just left on the floor for inquisitive children to get access to. Headboards were disintegrating leaving bits of rubber sometimes floating in the water. 1 metre past the 1mtre high fence of the back garden is a 2mtre at least drop down into a bramble filled stream which in late August was a gentle trickle, but I imagine it gets much higher at other times of year. A 3 year old in our group easily found a lower part in the fencing and hopped it. There was no barbecue unlike most places we have been previously None of this stopped us from having a good time during our week, but regretfully we would not likely return (mainly due to the flies - we counted 150 dead in a 24 hour period in one room) despite the owners being very lovely and making sure most days that we were ok. Unfortunately most of these things would not have been quick fixes for them while we were there.

Lovely cottage, pretty rooms, lovely views and we were very comfortable.
There was a wood burner which will be really nice in winter but we did not need to use it - it was very cosy. The dining area was spacious and nice. There are some beautiful walks nearby, including a walk through the valley to Port Talbot and the nearby Afan Forest country park. We also enjoyed the South Wales Miner's museum, which was very interesting. The Bethel Chapel cafe is great (open at weekends) and the Teapot a short drive away. Mumbles lovely for a day out. As feedback we could have used a few more kitchen things - a teapot and cafetiere coffee pot would be useful, as the space is perfect for large groups. A bread knife, and knife sharpener would be nice to have and the cutlery wasn't great for e.g. cutting a steak. Also just to note, the utensils are metal and there are a number of lovely new non stick pans, which will get scratched by metal, so some wooden or silicone ones might be good! These are just small things though and we generally really enjoyed cooking and eating at the cottage.

I wanted somewhere nestled in the countryside, with stunning views, privacy and peace yet close enough to town to nip out for a takeway or restaurant if I didn't feel like cooking and Llwyncelyn is just the place. The fact that it is also right in the middle of some of the best cycling (with a a capacious lock up shed - great for those days when you want to leave the bikes behind or do some repairs), has footpaths leading out across stunning scenery and (back to that lock up shed) somewhere to stow your fishing gear if that's your particular passion makes this cottage so special. After a long day out and about the hot tub was much appreciated and I am now a convert. Add to that beds that even goldilocks would have to admit are just right and this is somewhere I will come back to. Thank you, we love it!

A beautiful secluded holiday home with everything you need for a comfortable stay.
The scenery through the beacons is breath taking, and the same goes for the working farm you arrive at. The owners met us on arrival with some extra towels and bits then left us too our own devices. They offered us the opportunity to go and feed the lambs which I thought was lovely as you can see they are always so busy but we didn't want to intrude on this stay. Maybe next time, as we will book this place again! The holiday home is perfectly sized for a few days/ weeks stay but I will state to make sure that you take everything you'll think you'll need as the shop is not just round the corner- to us this was part the fun... though forgetting the milk didn't go down well! If you want romance, peace and beautiful scenery then this place is a must.

The cosiest cabin in the most stunning location.
If peace and tranquility is what you're after then you must book to stay here. You truly are in the middle of nowhere with the closest shop around half an hour away. The host - Brian - was so friendly and attentive and after welcoming us on our first day, left us to enjoy our surroundings. We thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful local hikes/walks that kept us busy throughout the week, followed each day by a long soak in the hot tub which was a real treat. This property has EVERYTHING you could think of needing. The owners really have thought of every, single little detail. We had the most fantastic week and feel so grateful to have found this hidden treasure. Thank you for the most wonderful stay!
