What our customers say about their holidays

We stayed in early August and booked rather last minute (2 weeks before), as you can imagine there was not a lot of choice left in budget.
Despite this we were very happy with our stay. The location is perfect with a beautiful view from the cottage and easy access to the main roads. Some reviewers said the property is on a main road, we stayed during peak season and it really was not that busy. Itâs definitely quiet by evening and overnight, itâs not what I would call a âmain roadâ. There is parking for one car at the back of the property and shared access to a laundry room (there was never anyone in there). The property itself is basic but pleasant enough. The kitchen, whilst it doesnât have an oven, had everything we needed. The lounge has an open fire. The bedroom was nicely furnished and the bed comfy. My partner had a dip on his side in the mattress but this could probably be avoided by regular turning of the mattress (if not flipping over then just rotating sides). Despite being a light sleeper he slept well enough on it anyway. Due to the roof light you cannot block natural light in the morning, this wasnât a big issue for us, my partner sleeps with an eye mask anyway. If this would bother you I would just bring an eye mask (two are provided). The en-suite shower room is basic but adequate. The shower is electric so there is constant hot water but the pressure is weak (to be expected with electric showers). The kitchen tap also has constant hot water. We stayed during a cool week in August so some heating was needed. We couldnât figure out how to turn on the central heating but a portable oil heater was supplied in the bedroom and this was more than enough to heat the whole cottage quickly when we needed it. We are with the EE network and had no issue with signal. The cottage was sufficiently clean, as someone who has a weekly cleaner at home because I love a clean house, I found the cleanliness fine, yes there was a small amount of dust here and there but nothing to write home about. Clean bed linen and ample towels were provided. It was a shame we could not bring our small dog as I think this would not have been an issue for this type of property but other than that factor, we would stay here again.

Cedar Cottage was an absolute delight to stay in.
We found the position of Cedar to be really good because you had the views of the mountains in the glen, but also the pond. We have never stayed in a self catering property that was this clean upon arrival. The bed was comfy and so was the sofa. We felt we had a good level of privacy too, despite being amongst seven other cottages. Noise was not an issue. In fact, the only noise you would hear would be the sound of a Curlew or an Oystercatcher her or an Owl. We saw many red squirrels. In fact, the most red squirrels we have ever seen. The enclosed paddock behind 3 of the lodges was an absolutely awesome addition when you have a dog. This allowed for our dog to play safely with other dogs, socialise with the dogs, at the same time whilst we relaxed. But you do also have your own section of garden that is fully enclosed and private. We felt the lodge was mostly well equipped in the kitchen. We would suggest adding a mixing bowl for those that want to bake. And a yorkshire pudding tray of course. They do provide lovely scottish made toiletries and upon arrival, you receive a really lovely welcome pack. The walk down to the falls is lovely. There is a lot to do locally but bear in mind, despite being on the A9 road, you are isolated to some degree. We arranged for a Tesco delivery on the following day and we stocked up on fuel. The owners are really friendly here and helpful and always available on hand. Places we would suggest visiting are Pattack Falls, Cairn Gorm, Green loch, Creag Meagaidh, Aberfeldy, Blair Atholl etc. Aviemore is very dog friendly. We would visit again for sure. And we would actually choose to stay in Cedar again. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

The cottage is generally comfortable and cosy, and in a beautiful location.
Facilities are adequate, including combi microwave/grill, hob, central heating, fan heater and electric shower. A few issues to note: There was no information whatsoever about the cottage, or any instructions about using it, we had to sus everything out ourselves. We never saw the owner, the keys were in the door when we arrived and we just had to leave them in the cottage when we left. The central heating was great, but seemed to come on and off quite randomly; there were no controls in the cottage. The cottage is next to a busy fast road, which wouldn't have been a problem but the windows didn't close properly so traffic noise was an issue. The shower, as others have commented, was very feeble and needs replacing. Overall, Osprey Cottage has the potential to be an ideal country retreat, but in our opinion is in need of a bit of money spending and some TLC to bring it up to a 5 star standard.

There is no WiFi at the cottage and no mobile signal in the cottage.
We had to walk down the road to get a signal but that wasn't a big deal. There is no cooker, just a hob and a halogen oven on the counter which wasn't ideal but we were able to cook basic meals with the use of the microwave too. The cottage has basic facilities and a shared washing machine/drying area. The open fire is welcoming after a cold day out walking. The bed was very comfortable indeed and the shower was lovely and warm everyday, no issues at all. Beautiful area and fabulous views from the cottage window of the sheep and lambs in the fields, not to mention the mountain views. A very peaceful area, the cottage is well situated to tour this beautiful area of the highlands. A real get away from it all place.

A wonderful place to stay with everything you could wish to have at hand.
The cottage was by far the cleanest and best equipped I have had the pleasure to stay in; I am a keen amateur chef and everything was in the kitchen that I could need and all spotlessly clean too! The surrounding area was perfect for taking the dogs out for a walk and the local amenities are excellent (the best Indian food I have tasted in years). The welcome pack was appreciated and added to the overall impression of the cottage which was first class I doubt my pocket would stretch to the summer rates for this property but it is very affordable to stay in the winter which gives you the experience of staying in classy place Thank you very much.
