During August we had a 4 day break at Brimstone and had a thoroughly nice time.
The 2 storey apartment is well furnished and extremely comfortable, and ideally situated adjacent to the River Leven and walking distance to the Haverthwaite Steam Railway terminus, the Lakeland Motor Museum, The Anglers Arms, and The Whitewater Hotel with local walks in abundance. Much more is obtainable if you take the car (or train). The high spec and well decorated apartment is well laid out, and with 2 double bedrooms and a shower room on the top floor and the main double bedroom and bathroom on the floor below the premises will easily accommodate a larger family or a multi occupancy. We had a few minor issues whilst staying but on contacting the owners these were resolved most promptly and efficiently and with consideration to ensure that our holiday was not impacted upon. On our journey to the property at the start of the holiday we encountered severe traffic congestion on the motorway and, to our surprise, we were contacted by the owners en route with advice as to how best to minimise the disruption. What a nice touch. Our time at Brimstone provided a complete rest for us and the gurgle of river below only added to the ambience of the peaceful setting. We LOVED this property !
We spent a week here and it was exactly what we needed. we are a family of 4 and we had plenty of room and space for all of us. The main areas like the kitchen, dining and living room had loads of space to sit and relax. Having roku on the tv was great for winding down in the evening. The location is also perfect for tourists to the area, as its a 5 minute walk into the middle of Kendal. There was plenty of space to keep our clothes. You can really tell that the owner tried to provide as many of the important things as possible to make it convenient. Also the bathroom was wonderful, warm and the bath tub is humongous! My only gripe with the property is that the 2 larger beds were really hard to sleep on. The mattresses were very solid, and we kept waking up with sore ribs/back. The single bed was perfectly normal. I hate to even mention it, and it doesn't overshadow our experience staying here. If it weren't for the mattresses, this is the perfect property for anyone to stay in! and we will definitely consider this for future visits.

Arrived on 17th December for 3 weeks.
Everything was ready and a very nice surprise to have a full Christmas tree twinkling in the dining room and two bottles of Champagne in the fridge. Everything you could ever need is in the apartment and with having two young children the washer and tumble dryer were invaluable. The car parking space was also a big hit. Two double / King size beds were really comfortable and the single room was great when we had a visitor stay a few days with us. The owner made sure we were settled and checked if we needed anything. All the kitchen items were clean and fully stocked. the heating was more than adequate in all rooms. The close proximity to the town centre is a great draw for this property. This property will be the first choice for my next visit later this year. Thanks again to Mr Robson.

The cottage is nice and modern with good comfy furniture and nice enclosed garden for dogs but the road or very narrow lane with dry stone walling each side going to the property is a nightmare! If you drive a large car or 4 x 4 You will not enjoy this road. We would not book this property again because of the road and the cottage seems very cold even in Summer because it doesn’t seem to get much light or sun in there. Bring your own dish cloth! They don’t provide one or any tea or coffee pods. The Hot tub is nice but we actually found it too hot. Trying to get the heating to work in the cottage is hit and miss. The weather for our week was really bad, rained almost every day and we needed some warmth in the cottage to dry our clothes and warm up. The welcome pack could be a lot better.

One of the best dog friendly lodges we have stayed in. Every finite detail has been thought of. Our only comments which would be more of an improvement rather than things that were missing was: 1 - The outside tap which has a hosepipe attached would be great if this was a hot / cold dog washing station. 2 - not sure if these were missing or were available pre-covid but bath robes would be a great addition with the hot tub. 3 - 2 towels per person seemed a bit light gives the use of the hot tub and a 7 day stay. As stated although these would be great improvements for the stay they certainly would not stop us booking Bam Lodge again. The original cottages team were great at responding to any concerns or queries and the owners have done an exceptional job with this property.
