What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage is in an amazing location and actually one of the best parts of town.
Very quiet at night. Parking can be tricky but as long as you donât bother with the one at the bottom of the hill (which isnât even listed on the council website and trip advisor reviews of it are dreadful) and use Asda carpark or council offices via the just park app thereâs no problem. Bit of a steep hill and steps up to the road where cottage is, so just take it slow. But managed to park right outside also. A couple of steps down to the road is marked as no parking so this makes a handy little load/unloading bay. The place was clean and a very well equipped kitchen but a bit tatty here and there, bumps and scrapes but this is because lots of people that rent places donât take care. The little outside loo is great when there are six of you but the door to it and the whole courtyard need some TLC. But having a table and chairs provided meant for a nice sunny outside breakfast. The stairs inside are very steep and there are a few stepâs around the house like up into kitchen from dinning room and lounge but only a few centimetres high and as the floor all one colour throughout I think it needs something to highlight the different levels. I tripped up on both when first arriving. Steps into front door and out to courtyard rather high. Iâm mentioning all this because I feel it needs more details about them on website descriptions, âdue to being such an old cottage so expect steep stairs and many different levelsâ It could possibly do with a second set of keys. The safe was also tricky at times to open and could do with a small light sensor so arriving home after dark we wouldnât have had to use torches on phone. Beds were comfy and linen clean, towels also. Shower and bathroom facilities were good. My only concern I had was in one twin room there was a tv, great to have as if you had a couple of kids you may want to put them in there. But the bedroom furniture was all glass mirrored and although looking very glamorous it could be dangerous. And on the bedside table between the 2 beds the glass was all chipped right along the protruding edge. It didnât feel too sharp but I think with a little bit of horseplay, as kids do, and someone falling on that there would be quite a nasty injury. I really do hope this gets looked at.

The property is an absolute delight and whilst it is a listed building no effort has been spared to ensure that the facilities are modern and comfortable.
The rooms are all of a generous size, particularly the kitchen/diner which can accommodate six people and the dog with ease. There is an antique salt box on the wall but that is the only thing antique article in the room with modern appliances of the highest quality. The washer and tumble drier are in the downstairs cloakroom/utility room so that their operation does not intrude. The sitting room is comfortable with two contemporary but in period sofas and the thoughtful addition of a small Pembroke table and chairs in a separate corner. A pair of French doors lead out to an enclosed courtyard area with outdoor metal furniture. The smart TV is not hindered by the speed of the broadband connection and there is sufficient bandwidth for streaming and the operation of other devices. The bathrooms are spacious and well equipped There is one designated parking space and a spacious paddock where a dog may be exercised. This property is eminently suitable for winter holidays where you might expect to spend more time there than in the summer. I would suggest that the central heating timer control be available to renters and that a motion sensor switches the system off in the event that the property is vacated by the forgetful or the inconsiderate.

We have just returned from a weeks stay at Ocean Swell and another lovely holiday in Weymouth.
Our comments on the property itself would be that at the time of booking, the property description detailed 3 cloakroom and WCs, one in the bathroom, one on the ground floor and one assessed externally from the patio. There was in fact no cloakroom and WC on the ground floor, which was one of the reasons we booked this property. We visited the Dream Cottages office twice to point out the inaccuracy in the description and on the second visit this wasn't altogether accepted but after an uneasy conversation we were begrudgingly offered a £50 discount off our next booking. We now see that the description has been updated to remove the reference to a ground floor cloakroom and WC. Please can you advise how we go about receiving the discount, as we have, as a family, already booked a property with you for next year. Other comments; although the property was cleaned to an acceptable standard, the shower tray was overflowing on first use and the reason was that there was a mouse sized hair ball in the plug hole. Once this was removed, not a pleasant job!, the water drained away no problem. The DVD player did not work, but this was quickly replaced with a new one.

The cottage is exceptionally well equipped, especially the kitchen.
The furniture was comfortable and the whole space was uncluttered, the master bedroom being exceptionally large. The standard of cleaning was quite outstanding. The position of the cottage away from the road and with good parking was a bonus as was the shop and post office less than a minute away being great for the morning papers. The many walks around this large village were pleasant and accessibility to the various National Trust Properties and small local towns meant we found plenty to do without long journeys. The Crown pub as you enter the village was busy and friendly and the food was of a good standard and like Tick Tock Cottage is very dog friendly. We had a very good week, we would not normally book a cottage where the owners live adjacent but this proved not to be a problem, they offered us information made sure we were happy and left us in peace. I am sure that in the future a return visit to Tick Tock or odd nights in The Clock House B&B will be on the agenda.

This is undoubtedly the best cottage we have ever stayed in.
No expense has been spared on the fittings and equipment, we didn't want for anything and yet it had a comfy and cozy feel. Our dog was welcomed by the owner's two spaniels and appreciated the dog biscuits, water bowl, towel, and especially the under floor heating! We were encouraged to allow him supervised exercise in the large garden and we soon found a lovely footpath through countryside a few metres from the front entrance. The log burner was a joy, heating the whole cottage. We were delighted by the home-made scones, cream and jam that greeted us upon arrival. There was a few basic provisions in the larder and a pint of milk for the fridge. A very warm welcome! We ate at The Crown in the villages several times as their food was lovely and very good value. Our visits to Stourhead, Montacute House, Shaftesbury and Sherborne were also very enjoyable and can be recommended.
