What our customers say about their holidays
David - Verified booking
My wife and I rented this exceptional property for a week in June.
On arrival we found the property to be spotlessly clean and easy to operate. The kitchen was well-equipped with modern appliances. There was a fridge of sufficient size to accommodate a weekâs fresh groceries. The gas cooker hob was highly efficient and the electric oven was pristine â always a good sign. In the utility room there was a freezer with a washing machine and tumble dryer â ideal for those intending to stay for more than a week. The spacious living room had a comfortable settee and chair. There was supplementary lighting which meant it was easy to read after dark. There was a wood burning stove but we didnât need to use it in June. The kind owners had provided us with a huge basket of logs if we wanted to make use of it. The dining area had a table with four chairs â as with the rest of the house this furniture was top quality and in keeping with the rustic theme. The bed rooms were relatively spacious with plenty of storage. Linens were of a very good quality and we found the bed to be perfect for a quality sleep. It was a sheer delight to wake each morning with a sumptuous view over the rolling hills, without any other sounds than bird song. The shower in the bathroom was particularly powerful and there was always plenty of hot water. The property also had a toilet downstairs â a useful feature for a larger group of guests. Wi-Fi is strong and reliable. There were many features of this property which indicated the care and thought the owners have given to ensure the well being of guests. There is a selection of DVDS and leaflets about things to do in the local area. We were welcomed to the property with a large sponge cake which was absolutely delicious. We enjoyed our visit to Northumbria immensely, with its opportunities to visit traditional villages and towns. We did lots of touring in the hills â there is so much to do, especially for those interested in nature and history. The owners are to be commended for providing such an attractive and cosy holiday cottage. My wife and I have stayed in a huge number of self catering properties over the years and this is without doubt one of the very best. I would recommend this property to anyone wishing to visit this gorgeous area.

This as we expected is a small for two people farm barn conversion next to a very large mansion house who were no doubt the owners.
It is a clean and tidy cottage with basic facilities (enough for two) but as we expected no washing machine. The bedroom was cosy and the bed comfortable in King size and area quiet day and night. The views from the backside of the cottage were good with an outdoor table and two chairs for the nicer warm days. The doors on either side of the cottage are full glass frames so privacy is an issue and you will at most times need to keep the blinds closed. There are no side windows only two roof windows for lighting. The TV works well but you only have freeview and a basic DVD player (not blue-ray). All in all Sleights is a great place with all the local amenities with a chippy (great), post office, butchers, small supermarket and Plough pub. Access to the cottage is via a single track farm road through sheep grazing fields. Its not too muddy just a bit bumpy so take it easy. But be warned for the sporty HO-HA henrys with flashy low level cars you find access difficult unless you want your exhaust ripped out.

Lovely base for our group of five couples for a long weekend get together. The property was larger than we expected and had plenty of space for us all. The kitchen was well equipped and made cooking for 10 easy. We loved the quirkiness of the old building with uneven stairs and wonky floor levels in places but it may not be suitable for everyone if you have mobility issues. Also be warned that if you're very tall be prepared to duck in places to avoid some of the lower beans (one of our group is over 6ft 6 and had to do this in places!) There was plenty of wood at the property we could use for the lovely log fire in the living room. It was really nice of an evening sitting in there with the fire burning, chatting and playing games. The hot tub outside was also a lovely bonus and well used by several of our group. Chris the host was very quick and helpful in answering our few questions before we arrived. We would definitely recommend the property and be happy to visit again.

We rented Partridge Farmhouse and Partridge Barn for a family Christmas holiday with 14 people there on Christmas Day and Boxing Day aged 2-91. The accommodation is perfect for a large group and is a great place for families. The properties are in a beautiful setting in the Devon countryside and both the Barn and the Farmhouse were very homely and easy to relax in. Both are very well equipped and there was nothing that we felt was missing. There were also some nice touches including hot tubs which were very popular even on cold December nights and generous supplies of logs for the fire in the sitting room in the Farmhouse. They were also spotlessly clean and were very well prepared for our visit. Chris is an amazing host who was very welcoming and responsive to any questions we had. I could not recommend this place highly enough and it is excellent value. In summary a perfect stay!

We received such a warm welcome at the cottage by Linda and David.
The cottage was immaculate and so comfortable. We loved the log burner it was great to come home to at night, but the cottage was really warm even without it, the heating was very efficient. We loved the peace and quiet on the farm and the lovely walks around the area. We visited many places while staying at the cottage, it is so close to all the Roman sites, plenty of National Trust and English Heritage too, together with lovely villages. We found all the locals very friendly too. The roads were so quiet too, we only passed a couple of cars most days, bliss when you come from a busy town yourselves. Linda and David had put a lot of thought in to providing everything to make your holiday special, including a lovely homemade cake, which was delicious. We wouldn't hesitate in recommending this cottage to anyone or staying there again ourselves.
