Looe Holiday Cottages

Looe is a small coastal town in Cornwall. With two beaches in the town and many more nearby there are a host of places for bucket and spade days out or just a relax in the sun. It's also right on the South-West Coastal Path, making it ideal for walkers. Visit the beautiful town of Looe with your family or friends.

Reasons to Visit Looe

Walking

The South-West Coastal Path passes through Looe, making it the ideal starting location. So prepare for a fun day of coastal walking. From Looe, the most scenic walks follow the west coast. To Talland Bay and back is seven miles; a little further on is Polperro and back, which is close to ten miles. Both walks are through an AONB, and Polperro is a charming fishing village. For a shorter walk with children, you could try Portnadler Bay, which is four miles there and back, but it can be broken up as there are some small beaches and coves to explore along the way. If you are looking for a last-minute walking holiday with your family, Looe is the ideal place to visit. Why not make sure you get the most from your walking experience and rest your legs each evening by renting a cottage that has a hot tub?

Beaches

Looe is an ideal beach holiday destination. There are great beaches in Looe and a short walk or drive away are some of the best beaches in England. About an hour's drive north, there are fantastic beaches like Newquay Beach, Fistral Beach, and Hollywell Beach. Within walking distance are East Looe Beach, Plaidy Beach, and a cluster of small beaches and coves. These smaller beaches can be found east and west of Looe, like Hannefore Beach and beaches on the way to Talland Bay. Some of these beaches have rock pools when the tide is out and are hours of fun for the kids. Looe's beaches are superb fun and perfect for your last-minute family holiday. Book your last-minute holiday confidently, knowing you are getting the best deals using our best price guarantee.

Where to Stay In Looe

If you want to be right in the action with fish markets, museums, beaches, restaurants, pubs and cafes, then East Looe is the place to be. If you are looking for a quieter last-minute holiday, West Looe will be more peaceful, with closer access to the South-West Coastal Path and more walking options. Last Minute Cottages are on either side of the harbour, ideal for a last-minute family holiday or getaway with friends. Book now using our easy-to-use booking system with our market-leading customer service team on hand if you need help.

What our customers say about their holidays

We have been booking with Sykes now for a few years and every place we have stayed has been wonderful until now.

We turned up half an hour before the allotted time but it gave us the opportunity to see where the cottage was before we went for a coffee. We got out to let our dog go for a quick walk and we could see the cleaner was still in the cottage. Well I say we could see, what we heard was a small baby crying and a man shouting expletives at someone (we think maybe another child). It was horrendous. We got in the car and went into polperro. When we can back an hour later it was quite clear that whoever is the cleaner is had spent more time swearing than cleaning. The kitchen was a a disgrace and we have photos to prove this. The cooker top was smeared and not at all clean. The cooker equally so with a baking tray inside with a puddle of grease on it. The floor hadn’t been mopped and there was dust on shelves and cupboards with a sticky film that had been there for some time. We had to clean the kitchen before we were happy to cook in it. Upstairs was little better as the mirrors were all smeared and looked like they had been cleaned with a dirty cloth. The tv stand downstairs was also covered in dust and every horizontal surface was dusty and not helped with the amount of nick-knacks which had also not been dusted. The front door is a stable type but the bottom was not secured with anything as the bolt had broken and one which was missing completely. It could only be held in place by the top door. The hinge on the bottom door was loose so you had to really slam it shut. My husband did find a screwdriver and fixed this. The place also suffers from damp as there appears to be little damp course outside so rain water was held in place by the decking. Every cupboard we opened smelt musty and the area by the back door also smelt damp. I did buy a plug in room freshener to at least mask the smell. Not good when you are an asthmatic. All in all we were very disappointed with Sykes on this property and it was definitely cleaner when we left than when we arrived. Another security point. The key for the property was accessed via a key safe in the garage except the cleaner hadn’t bothered to even change the code when he put the key back so as soon as I opened the garage door the key fell out.

I am a ex travel agent of 18yrs & have stayed at a lot of places so this is my point of view.

One of the roads which we needed to get to the Rivercrest was closed due to a previous landslide, We were not made aware of this. The caretakers didn’t explain the way to get to Rivercrest very well over the phone, it took a local man to give us fab & easy directions which we found Rivercrest straight away. Just go over the bridge to the West side take a left follow the road along the harbour turn right at the fire station which is in a square take the 3rd turning into North Rd on the right (it is very narrow be prepared to pull over & reverse back for on coming traffic) Rivercrest is up the top on the right hand side where the road forks off to the right, the sign could be bigger on the Gate. You can unload here but no parking as double yellows. You could be lucky as we were to get a space just back down the hill on the left, otherwise parking is pay & display apart from Millpool car park which you can pre book on line, this is hard to get too at the mo as the one road is closed. Pros: Fab views, great facilities in kitchen, cosy little place.prepare for a visit from the locals(seagulls) also a cute little Robin which I named Dave :-) Cons: beds are hard, had a bad back all week, bunk beds not suitable for adults as they state that they are, we had two 60yr olds on them, one kept knocking her head, not good as recovering from a bleed on the brain?! NO HAIR DRYER! This would be a nice touch. Stains on the rug in living room. Larger Tv needed due to positioning of sofas, size of the room & how high it has been put up onto the wall. Sofas not very comfy they could do with new ones. Cushions kept sliding forward on the sofa bed. The 18 steps down to the apartment are very STEEP so beware of this if thinking of booking. Downstairs garden could do with a tidy up. Freezer needs looking at as over freezing. Damp smell in the living room/kitchen area, it is coming from the boiler cupboard. Lit candles but they didn’t help as the smell was bad. Apart from this we had a lovely week but just a few things need addressing. Cheers

Cottage itself was in a lovely location, pretty central for everywhere.

It had pretty much everything you could need utensil wise and everything was clean, well except the floor, I was wearing white trainer socks on arrival and when I went to take them off that night, they were filthy. I even had to clean the soles of our slippers because they were dirty when we left, and I have beige carpets at home. So not impressed with that. Also, there’s no instructions for anything, when we’ve stayed at cottages in the past, there’s normally a book, with everything you need to know, how to work the heating, WiFi code, how to use the oven etc. took us 2 days to realise there was in fact a microwave, which, I must say, is pretty dangerous, as it’s above the oven and grill, so if your short, you either need help, or you’ll wear whatever you’ve heated up, not very practical. Couldn’t find a washing machine either? Again, no info in cottage. The rooms are comfortable, but if you’re in the twin room, you can hear everything in the toilet. Also, I think people who had stayed previously had had dogs with them, as I’m allergic and had a reaction as soon as I walked in. Might be worth giving the place a proper good clean and change blankets that dogs have probably sat on, especially if your next guests aren’t taking dogs. Overall we had a good stay, but would we come back? For the location, definitely!

Even though we were aware that the property has been recently refurbished, it exceeded expectations!

Everything has been recently replaced or decorated from the kitchen to the bathroom, carpets, furniture, the lot! We enjoyed the comfort of the lounge and the tv package also has sky cinema for the evenings. Breakfast on the balcony was a lovely way to start each morning. You can see the sea just over the field The location is fantastic. The property is in a quiet close and you are about 10 mins walk to the coastal path where you can walk to polperro (about 40 mins) or Talland Bay (about 15mins). The coast path is stunning. We saw Seals but several people mentioned seeing a pod of about 15 dolphins in Talland Bay the day before. It’s also just off the main road to Polperro, meaning you can quickly get on the main road in the morning and visit places further afield if you wish. We’d also recommend the pub at the caravan park a few minutes walk away and it’s worth mentioning that they do food and takeaway service too. Some take aways in Looe also deliver for a small delivery fee. There are designated spaces for parking of the carport or garage and while both can be squeeze (especially if there are other cars in the close) it is no hardship to park around the corner 50-100 yards away
