What our customers say about their holidays

I am a ex travel agent of 18yrs & have stayed at a lot of places so this is my point of view.
One of the roads which we needed to get to the Rivercrest was closed due to a previous landslide, We were not made aware of this. The caretakers didnât explain the way to get to Rivercrest very well over the phone, it took a local man to give us fab & easy directions which we found Rivercrest straight away. Just go over the bridge to the West side take a left follow the road along the harbour turn right at the fire station which is in a square take the 3rd turning into North Rd on the right (it is very narrow be prepared to pull over & reverse back for on coming traffic) Rivercrest is up the top on the right hand side where the road forks off to the right, the sign could be bigger on the Gate. You can unload here but no parking as double yellows. You could be lucky as we were to get a space just back down the hill on the left, otherwise parking is pay & display apart from Millpool car park which you can pre book on line, this is hard to get too at the mo as the one road is closed. Pros: Fab views, great facilities in kitchen, cosy little place.prepare for a visit from the locals(seagulls) also a cute little Robin which I named Dave :-) Cons: beds are hard, had a bad back all week, bunk beds not suitable for adults as they state that they are, we had two 60yr olds on them, one kept knocking her head, not good as recovering from a bleed on the brain?! NO HAIR DRYER! This would be a nice touch. Stains on the rug in living room. Larger Tv needed due to positioning of sofas, size of the room & how high it has been put up onto the wall. Sofas not very comfy they could do with new ones. Cushions kept sliding forward on the sofa bed. The 18 steps down to the apartment are very STEEP so beware of this if thinking of booking. Downstairs garden could do with a tidy up. Freezer needs looking at as over freezing. Damp smell in the living room/kitchen area, it is coming from the boiler cupboard. Lit candles but they didnât help as the smell was bad. Apart from this we had a lovely week but just a few things need addressing. Cheers

Location and views amazing as expected.
Accommodation spotless and fully equipped. Stairs down to the accommodation are ridiculously steep and should be shown on pictures as we were mislead to think the other staircase from the patio was the access stairs. Downstairs patio was absolutely appalling! So disappointed with this area. We had planned to have bbqs and allow our little one to play there. Considering there has been a lockdown and we were paying a premium price the owners had plenty of time to address this area! However the neglected state was shocking! There is clearly a problem with the seagulls as they do not have any spikes or wire on the property or itâs boundaries! Childrenâs bedroom needs a curtain!! This is a must especially in the summer months! We had to put a towel over the existing curtain rail from (which should have hung a curtain!) No recycling tubs/boxes and no guidance where to dispose of this or that the cleaning staff were happy to sort. Finally this is not a property to accommodate 6 people. Thank goodness my parents had to cancel as we would have been so crammed in and on top of each other!

Had an enjoyable mini-break in October 2020.
Accommodation is adequate although could do with a deep clean in the lounge area. The bathroom too needs some attention - we noted that the broken bathroom lock has been reported in the visitor book for over 5-years and still is is not fixed! (The blind was also broken.) Privacy is important for children - we have two - and clearly no facility to lock the bathroom door is wholly unacceptable. The lack of parking although was expected was a bit annoying when you have to walk for 15 minutes in the rain. There are 1-hour parking bays behind the accommodation but these are permanently taken up by blue-badge holders from the neighbouring residential care home who NEVER move their cars. Like a lot of holiday cottages the owners frustratingly refuse to put up decent curtains. Thin blinds whilst didn't affect us would be very annoying in the summer when it is light early morning. I would recommend this accommodation but with caution and a not to high an expectation.

The property is very disappointing.
The gate was broken The steps down to the property are dirty and slippery. The outside seats are dirty and full of green moss so couldn't use them. There was old bird poo everywhere. The property smelt of damp. The curtains had mould on them. The bathroom was so drafty and smelt of damp., The oven does not work. There was dust all on the skirting in the bedrooms. No plug sockets near the mirrors to style your hair. The windows were dirty. Everything felt damp, we bought candles to try and hide it but this didn't work. Was very disappointed. Could do with a good clean-up outside. And the curtains abd rug in the living room replacing. Why was the TV so high on the wall that was ridiculous. Maybe an added touch of some basics like , toilet rolls, there was just the 1 in there. Such a shame. The pictures are not a true reflection on what it was really like.

We liked the property it ticked the main boxes that we need for a holiday, it was quiet, private, warm, plenty of hot water, clean and comfortable bed.
Even though there are neighbours either side you can't actually see them as the property is surrounded by tall trees. Lanreath is a very quiet little village and there are safe walks from the property suitable for mobility scooter. Looe is only 6 miles away and Fowey close by via the ferry. Bodmin about 20 minutes away. The conservatory is a nice place to sit and take in the quiet and the sofa in there is comfortable. I think a few improvements would make the property even more appealing, the bathroom whilst perfectly useable could do with an upgrade and we had an issue with the shower door which the owner arranged repair the same day which we really appreciated. Its only a personal preference but I would remove some of the trees at the back to open the lovely view over the fields towards Bodmin from the conservatory. But all in all a nice place to visit.
