"Lovely stay with friends, well equipped and in a great location"
Amy – 1 Oct 2018
"My second time at mackinder farm, lovely and peaceful and fabulous lodge, cosy and warm and I will definitely be back"
Helen – 30 Jul 2018
"Great place if you want a relaxing break. Amazing lodge and exceptionally clean! Hot tub was lovely. We booked for 3 nights which was more than enough for us as we had a young child and a dog. There’s not much to keep children occupied especially when the weather isn’t so good. Was a little disappointed that there was only WiFi available in the laundry room and not in the cabins as this was not made clear when booking. But it’s a great little place."
Heather – 18 Jun 2018
"Really nice property, lovely hot tub, the lodges were well spaced apart. Would recommend it"
SUSAN – 1 Jun 2018
"We arrived at S15466 for half term. On arrival the place looked amazing. Inside had everything we needed and was lovely and clean. A lot bigger inside than it looks in the photos. The rooms were spacious and all beds had towels along with towels for the hot tub. James came to greet us after we arrived and was so friendly and helpful with any information we needed. The lovely touch was the fresh milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge on arrival, such a nice gesture. Outside the decking was spacious, huge outside area for the kids to play and the hot tub was amazing, which was checked daily. You were only a couple of miles away from supermarkets and was really great location to explore the area. Very private and secluded. Our kids had a fab time as did we. We will definitely be back again! Thanks to James and his team"

"Great place for a relaxing break, clean, helpful"
Julia – 9 Feb 2018
"Lovely cabin in a very peaceful area. Beds were extremely comfortable. Sofa and chairs in living room could be upgraded for more comfort. As per as previous post hot tub is great but jets need looking at as most not working. Wine, milk, tea, coffee and biscuits is a nice touch to get you started. The cabin was always lovely and warm. Would definitely go back and recommend to friends and family."
Brendan – 28 Dec 2017

"Everything great loved it"
PAMELA – 14 Jul 2017
"This is an amazing place spotlessly clean inside and the grounds with great walks around to take the dog.Selby is a short journey away and your central to a lot other beautiful towns and cities with plenty to do or quite simply chill in the jacuzzi. Some small criticism the beds are a little to firm and maybe a kids shed with maybe a pool table or football table but I'm sure that will come in till. Overall I would recommend this place to any and everyone Thanks James and team keep up the great work"

"Perfect. Beautiful lodge. Very relaxing."

"We were meant to be staying in S15466, a 2 bedroom accommodation, but were upgraded to Quayle Lodge, a 3 bedroom accommodation, due to a party going on next door to S15466. This was really nice of James (the site manager) to arrange, and very considerate. Quayle Lodge was gorgeous. Very well equipped and beds very comfortable. It was very light and roomy too, and of course the hot tub was a great addition. Just a shame it was -2 outside!"

"We really enjoyed our long weekend break at S15466.It was clean, tidy and well presented. The owner was very friendly and helpful.Nice touch of a bottle of milk and a bottle of wine in the fridge. Lots of coffee and tea making facilities too. That was appreciated. The beds were comfy and the hot tub was very clean.Only a couple of niggles: The oven took ages to cook anything and the hot tub jets weren't the strongest we've used but adequate. The intercity trains that go past in the distance are a bit too regular ( felt like every 20 minutes). There was a group of 3 women next door who got drunk in their hot tub and knocked on our door at 10:15pm wanting help getting one of them out of the hot tub. She said she hadn't drunk much but all we heard was the chinking of bottles being dropped into the bin for about 4 hours before. Other than that... a great stay."

"Fab weekend, so relaxing. Husband missed technology (no wifi & our mobile signal was sketchy) but I loved it. Dog loves the walks that are right on your door step."
John
"Excellent family holiday, loved the cottage which is in a great location for local attractions."
Vicki
"We stayed in S15466 during August with our 2 children aged 8 and 4. The lodge is much nicer than it looks in the pictures and was bigger than we thought. There was a lovely welcome pack and towels had been provided for both showering and the hot tub. The hot tub was amazing and we used it every evening! Lodge was really clean and could not find fault with it. Really quiet and relaxing. The owner and his nephew, who was helping out, were very helpful. We enjoyed and lovely holiday and would definitely recommend it!"
Matthew
"Amazing James was very welcoming on our arrival would definelty recommend to anyone who wants peace and quiet great for dogs. Photos don't do it justice its very cozy and private had a great time will definitely be returning :-)"
Joe
"3rd time staying at Mackinder farm but first time in this particular lodge. It's not as big as the Kingfisher (at least so it seems) but it's on a great plot. It's in a great secluded location and James is a fine host. There's a Tesco at nearby Brayton for supplies and The Wheatsheaf pub is great for food.Just a couple of issues with this particular lodge - the hot tub had no bar to close the lid so it required 2 people to close it when finished using it (not ideal in the cold), and the jets were only really working on one side so it wasn't that powerful. It didn't really keep a high temperature either, and I think it's due a replacement in all honesty. The lodge was very comfortable and clean overall, but there were some cobwebs up in the ceiling, and the shower curtain was dirty. The brush in the cupboard was bent in half (It wasn't us!) but the rest was spot on though. There were no notices saying that the recycling bins had been relocated, and we didn't get a map of how to get to the pub or shops (not that we needed one, but have seen them in the Kingfisher lodge in the past), but new visitors could benefit from it.Nearby Selby seemed closed on Wednesday afternoon, but fab fish and chips from Mr.C's chippy.James was on holiday on our visit so we didn't see him until the end of our week, so probably a bit of an unfair review as he wasn't on hand to speak with. This was our 3rd visit, and although we like to visit new lodges for new experiences this place is right up there for quality of stay and we wouldn't think twice about going for a fourth time. It's ideal for walkers and dogs and makes for a very relaxing break. It's so quiet and there's no noise from the neighbouring properties (there's only a handful on site anyway). There was a portable heater in the lodge but this didn't work. However the underfloor heating meant it was very warm on a night so it wasn't needed.Would always recommend to anyone looking for a quiet break.Milk and wine on arrival is a nice touch too! Thanks for having us and hope to return soon."
John
"Wow..what an amazing holiday. The lodge is so peaceful and relaxing with the added bonus of a great hot tub after a day out walking. Note that the hot tub has its water empted for each new guest :)James the owner was polite and a great help with local knowledge. Dont be put off, James is not intrusive, its just the children liked to talk to him and he is a really nice guy.The farm has 5 beautiful lodges that are spaced out from each other and you couldnt hear any other guest.Dont take bedding, towels or the kitchen sink..the lodges have everything you could want.We were so happy on the holiday we have already booked to go back !"
karen
"what can i say, just fabulous, lodge very spacious, warm, comfortable and had all the little touches you need for your stay there. the hot tub was amazing very clean and very private, we enjoyed our evenings relaxing after our days out visiting and lovely walks. the area is first class for walking your dog, there is so much space around the lodges too."
Keeley
"Enjoyed every minute. Would definitely go again!"
Lucy
"The lodge was absolutely amazing. The attention to detail was lovely to see. We loved every single moment and are looking to book up again soon. Definitely our new holiday destination! X"
Michelle
"Loved our stay here. Was worried about it not being private enough when we first arrived as it is positioned next to another cabin but bushes were in place to conceal us. Wine and milk in the fridge on arrival. Very quiet and peaceful. Lovely owner. Loved the hot tub. Would definitely visit again."
Parveen
"Second visit at S15466 everything perfect for a getaway"
Kathryn
"Amazing place. The hot tub was super awesome. We didn't want to leave!"
Elizabeth
"Fantastic lodge. Clean, relaxing and friendly owner."
Sarah
"We had a lovely holiday here with our 13 week old baby. The lodge was very clean and the surroundings peaceful. The owner James is lovely and very helpful. Plenty of room in the bedroom for a travel cot. It was lovely to relax in the hot tub of an evening when the baby was in bed. We didn't really go on days out as we just wanted to chill but we did visit the deep in Hull where we had to queue for an hour to get in in the rain so that is something to consider if visiting in school holidays. We will be coming back next year :) Thanks James!"
Robin
"very friendly and helpful people , nice comfy holiday home although didn't use hot tub it's a nice idea ."
Karen
"Have just returned from a fantastic few days at S15466. We all had a great time. From the welcome of milk and wine in the fridge to the excellent quality of accommodation, it couldn't be faulted. Fantastic base to explore Yorkshire, we can't wait to return."
Kath
"What a fantastic lodge clean comfortable and well equipped in such beautiful and peaceful surroundings. We had a warm welcome from James. He told us how to use the hot tub which was fantastic to relax in after long walks up the Selby Canal. The under floor heating keeps the lodge at a pleasant constant temperature. We will definitely return."
Emma
"Absolutely beautiful accommodation and just what we needed. Hot tub was fantastic and really relaxing. Although our lodge was quite close to another who had young children we hardly heard anything and had complete privacy. Lovely gesture with a bottle of wine chilling in the fridge upon our arrival. "
Anna

"Our family found the lodge very comfortable and very clean. The added bonus was the hot-tub, excellent for relaxing in last thing at night. James was very helpful and couldn’t do enough to make sure that our holiday in Yorkshire went well. Excellent local knowledge as well came in very useful. July 2012. "

"Very cosy lodge with all mod cons, especially liked the hot-tub,in a peaceful location but near shops, pubs etc. June 2012."

"Warm welcome with very friendly owner who was helpful and responded very quickly to requests (we were there for a wedding and my niece, her hubby and baby were allowed to sleep over on the day of the festivities at short notice). Quiet situation close to canal walks making it relaxing and excellent for dog walking. Good home cooking at the traditional local in the village that was also dog friendly. Very, very comfortable beds. Altogether, an excellent place to visit particularly for a long weekend of R&R. June 2012. "

"Excellent property, great location. James has a great manor with guests, spending time ensuring all our needs were met. Great use of renewable resources. Cottage located 100 yards from the Selby Canal. Cottage and grounds fully accessible to wheelchair users. Overall FANTASTIC! May 2012. "

"Excellent holiday cottage, well presented, friendly owner on arrival and of course the joy of the hot tub on the deck. March 2012. "
Previous guest
"S15466 was a very good standard of accommodation! It was clean, tidy, comfortable and the owner couldn’t have been more helpful! Absolutely perfect for a chilled out break! 100% recommended! The pictures don’t so it justice! March 2012."
Previous guest
"Log cabin very welcoming, cosy, warm, quiet and fully equipped. Owners very pleasant and helpful - and lovely touches on our arrival (thank you James & family). Hot tub just lovely. Our dog was in her element out on the gated decking and there are plenty of footpaths to head off on as well as the canal to walk by. about half hour walk away there’s a dog friendly pub (the wheatsheaf, burn) that does great food. A couple of times we walked there and then got a taxi back. We also taxi’d into Selby and had a nice meal out. Some people might find it a bit too remote but we loved it and will definitely return. Dec 2011."
