What our customers say about their holidays

This cottage has the potential to be exceptional.
It's very dark and cosy, which for December was great. It's tucked away without a drive, but we found the on road parking to be absolutely fine. We really enjoyed reading about the property's history, which was included as part of the welcome information. We appreciated the firewood for the first fire, and the sparkling wine in the fridge was a nice touch. There is a well stocked Spar down the road, and it is very close to some stunning beach walks. Communication with the owner was great when we couldn't find the immersion switch for the hot water - friendly and very helpful. If you are considering this cottage, though, know that you will need to bring *everything* with you. There was one toilet roll, one tea towel, one bin liner for the small kitchen bin, no hand soap, no hair dryer (not great to discover that right before a brisk beach walk in December!), no heater in either of the bedrooms. The single tea towel quickly became smelly because there is no central heating so therefore no radiator to dry it on. Many holiday lets we have stayed in have everything you need to make it a home from home - this isn't one of those properties, so just bear that in mind. Finally, for dog owners: the garden is not connected to the cottage. It is totally separate, so letting your dog out for a wee before bed or in the middle of the night isn't an option - you'll need to put their lead on and take them out. Overall a very cosy cottage full of character and history, it just needs a bit more attention to detail.

We visited Glascoed on 17th October 2019 for a week, itâs a very nice end of terrace cottage ideally located for touring the Llyn Peninsula.
There are some pros and cons when it comes to Glascoed and we were a bit concerned about some of the other reviews we had read. Itâs true to say that the decor is a bit dated especially the sofa and chairs, the living room carpet also had a large hole cut in it which was covered by a rug. The property was however clean when we arrived. The large enclosed back garden was ideal for our dogs, or so we thought, however there was a break in the fence adjoining the downstairs bathroom filled with deckchairs and garden debris. On our second day we found out why as a massive aggressive Great Dane and Mixed Breed Mastiff tried to break through and attack our dogs (they appeared to be alone guarding the empty property next door and where allowed out periodically). A couple of days in to our trip I also got a very nasty electric shock off the electric storage heater in the living room (not good considering I have a heart condition), Sykes and the owner quickly got an electrician out to rewire and sort out the problem while we where out at one of our trips to the beach. Another issue is the downstairs toilet and bathroom and some very steep stairs, if you need to pee during the night be prepared for a trek! Despite all the negative issues we still thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Llyn, I wouldnât return to Glascoed however until it has been updated a little with some new furniture and furnishings.

Absolutely amazing property that was well maintained and very clean.
Beds were super comfortable. This was a 'last minute' booking as the property we were supposed to stay in was withdrawn by the owner so wasn't as much choice for our budget at the time. Property was a lot bigger and more spacious than the pictures show so that was a nice suprise as was the fact the garden was secure as in the pictures I got the impression it was an open or communal garden! Was a joy to cook Xmas dinner in the huge kitchen! The only thing I missed was a slow cooker and serving tongs, we had planned on bringing our own as we usually do but didn't have any space in the car! The property is in a lovely location 'out in the sticks' with fantastic sea views and is lovely and peaceful yet only a 5 min drive to Nefyn town which has a wonderful well stocked spar shop. Nearest bigger town with an Asda is only a 15 min drive and Caernarfon is only a 30 mins drive. Snowdonia is also a 30 - 45 min drive and there are also so many beaches within a half hour! We loved walking around Abersoch and we visited different beaches each day! The only negative would have been the shower as we struggled to get it hot and when we did get some hot water it only lasted 5 mins which was difficult for 5 of us but we managed. Thank you once again for letting us stay and we hope we left the property clean enough.

The cottage and enclosed garden is lovely, and is a short walk from pub, beaches and short drive to local towns etc.
Also very comfortable bed, and good collection of books and music etc. There are a couple of things that would really improve this cottage. When we arrived it was a lovely afternoon, but turned very cold in the evening. There were only a couple of logs and no sticks newspapers etc to get the log burner going. After a 5 hour drive the last thing you want is to have to go out when you arrive to buy sticks etc. The night storage heaters had been turned off, so we had a very cold first night. Also a few instructions on how the storage heater controls work would be useful. As we came with two dogs it would be nice to be able to wash the floor, especially as the bathroom is downstairs, there is no mop or bucket and the Hoover was next to useless.(think the filters etc need sorting). Also agree with previous guest that kitchen utensils are bit grubby. We left a bag and half of logs sticks newspapers for next guest. Would also be nice for a bit more local information things to do etc in the cottage folder would be useful. We would defiantly stay here again if the above few things were sorted. Wales is a lovely place to visit and this would have been perfect holiday if the few things mentioned had been right.

Overall, we loved our stay and The White House was a great base to explore the area.
Having the stunning beach, footpaths, shop and discovering the fantastic arts centre and cafe at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw all within easy reach meant there was so much on the doorstep. Hot tub was a lovely treat after a cold day out walking! Our only comments on the house were that it felt a little sparse - blinds in the bathrooms would be appreciated for privacy and comfort, some door mats to help keep the place clean and a few more mugs, plates and bowls (a lot were badly chipped). Would be nice to have been left a few more essentials; we found only 4 tea bags and 3 dishwasher tablets. There was a note left out still from the previous guests commenting that the timer for the heating and hot water needed resetting, which we also found as it came on at strange times so had to use it manually. Also, two of the outdoor lights don't work. All things that can be easily remedied and overall we had a lovely stay.
