What our customers say about their holidays

  • Peter - Verified booking

Really enjoyed our break - 4 adults and two grandchildren.

Quite a few issues when we arrived, light bulb missing in the bedroom bedside lamp, no plug in ensuite bathtub, door didn't stay closed in bedroom, tumble dryer tripped out the electrics, downstairs shower temperature couldn't be adjusted. The owners happily came to inspect and some of the issues were rectified. We were also surprised we didn't receive a welcome pack as this is usual in all sykes cottages we have previously stayed in, however the owners did provide a dozen eggs at no charge. As we were leaving we had to retrieve a toy from behind a sofa, It was very dusty and didn't appear to have had a deep clean for a while. Mr and Mrs Evans were very friendly and were helpful with advice on where we should visit. The grandchildren loved their stay and thanks to Mr Evans for allowing our eldest grandchild to sit in his tractor and explore the farm.We had the pleasure of seeing one day old piglets, great base to stay for exploring the area around Cardigan and further afield.

I spent 2 hours cleaning this property when we arrived.

I couldn’t stop sneezing because of the high level of dust. I don’t think it had been dusted for weeks, if not months. The hoover was full when we arrived and I had to hoover the whole property 3 times, before it stopped filling the hoover up again. The freezer and cupboards were full of half eaten food, which I was very confused about? I don’t think that is acceptable, hygienic or safe. I moved all the frozen food to the bottom of the freezer, incase it belonged to the owner. There was a dirty towel under the bed. The towels left to use were awful and very worn and threadbare. I moved all the outdoor furniture cushions onto the top of the wardrobes and then hoovered under the bed. The next guests won’t find it dirty because I spent a lot of time leaving it in the condition I would expect to find it myself. It a shame because it could have been an outstanding property on a lovely quiet camp, if it had been cleaned and all the food removed.

Reference the review of Siobhan of 1-2 months ago, the shower support was hanging off the wall in the 2nd bedroom ensuite, and the house could do with a deep clean in places.

The kitchen floor in particular was very dirty when we arrived and although reported to the owner, Cleaners did not attend during our stay. Areas under/behind the beds had not been swept in some while. The window lock in bedroom 2 was defective. Heron is in a very pleasant location, immediately on the water's edge, in a quiet and peaceful residential area. The house had been recently decorated with new soft furnishings, it was comfortable, warm, well equipped and generally clean. It is possible to walk one's dog along the edge of the pil at low tide, otherwise there is limited dog walking from the property. Bring a towel for muddy paws! If the maintenance and cleaning issues have been dealt with, then we would thoroughly recommend Heron.

    Wonderful house!

    - only one issue is the slippery wooden stair case. It definitely needed edge grips or carpet runner mats, which we had to purchase from Amazon on our 2nd day for £32-as we were staying two weeks and that would have been a major problem as my son has slight balance issues and found them quite difficult. Also our dog likes to come upstairs to see us in the mornings and he was slipping so badly that we were worried he may injure himself. Apart from that we will definitely return - armed with our self adhesive carpet tiles! These cottages ( stayed in Egret before) are probably in my top 3 to stay in West Wales and we’ve stayed in an awful lot of cottages! Amazingly beautiful Peaceful and luxurious holiday home

Very nice property, very well equipped and very comfortable.

Fab location with lovely views. There are a few available in the row as holiday let's but this is probably the nicest one with lovely furnishings and decor. A spacious house with plenty chairs and sofa room for six people. A bit of maintenance is needed: There were several broken lightbulbs and a dodgy shower fixing and a leaking gutter at the rear, but over all everything very comfortable and well thought out. Could do with a bit of a deeper clean. The terrace is very nice and has sun from mid afternoon through the evening which is just perfect. I would highly recommend this property as a place to stay.
