What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage is in very good location especially if you like walking.
Excellent walks straight from the door. House is small but just about adequate for the needs of 4 adults, and mostly comfortable There are a couple of issues which I would like to raise though. The parking for house is for one car only, which we knew in advance, but it should be also explained that for a 2 car party, such as we were, this meant a weekly additional charge of £30 as there was no off road parking in village. The parking that is available is very restrictive and requires driver to park in a very specific way. ( This was explained to us in quite a confrontational way by the owner of adjoining cottage and took me several manoeuvres after a long tedious journey on the M6!) We discovered later there was a diagram in the information book showing the correct parking position which could have been sent out in advance and which would have avoided this unpleasant situation. The other negative issue for me was one of the twin beds was extremely uncomfortable with springs pushing up at the surface of mattress. It is obviously old and needs replacing. There were other minor irritations which I feel could be addressed to give more of a welcome to arriving guests. E.g. the house was cool when we arrived on a cold, grey February afternoon, and having just experienced the hassle about parking the car, did not feel cheering. Apart from a few meagre sachets of tea, coffee , milk and biscuits, the now expected â welcoming packâ seemed rather mean. A few inexpensive touches such as a bunch of daffs on the table and a bottle wine in the fridge would have given us a more positive first impression, whichI feel, although not essential, is nevertheless important. Although this all sounds very negative, I must point out that on the whole we enjoyed our week and there were good things about the cottage: once the log fire was lit, the lounge was very cosy and the sofas were comfy. The bathroom was spacious with generous sized bath and walk in shower and the kitchen had a lot of equipment for cooking and dining. We were very lucky to have some great, unseasonable weather during our stay and at one point were even able to sit outside in the garden and soak up the views and sunshine. I think with just a few, easily remedied adaptations, I would be giving the accommodation a much more positive review. I hope my comments have been helpful.

The building itself was not a problem but the cleanliness, comfort of the beds and the lack of the usual things like washing up liquid, kitchen roll and bathroom cleaner was much to be desired.
The single beds both need the mattresses replaced as the springs made an uncomfortable nights sleep. The duvet on the double bed was a disgrace. The wadding inside was in clumps and not even worth considering using! We needed to clean the bath and one of the toilets on arrival, once we had bought cleaning materials! There were cobwebs everywhere and also dead insects! I actually have photographs to back up these claims This is the first time we have ever experienced this and the first time to complain. I would like this to be an official complaint! I feel let down by Sykes inasmuch as possibly no inspection of this property and I also feel that the owner should be aware of the condition of things in his property. I feel that the price we paid for the week would certainly be enough for new mattresses and duvet covers for the owner to afford! I would very much like to hear your comments about my complaint.

Tanner Croft was ideally situated in Grasmere and exactly described as advertised.
The pantry/boot room (with the boiler, under the stairs) was ideal for hanging coats and placing boots after a day's walk. The space was ideal. Unfortunately the bed was not too comfortable for our liking (appreciate this is a personal thing) but the double duvet was pretty small also. Lovely aspect over the fields. The next door neighbour was keen to impress the need to access their outside store. We were evidently aware of the parking instructions provide by LakeLovers in advance of arrival, but some understanding for 5 minutes whilst we were unpacking the car would have been appreciated! Suggestions for an improved stay: appreciate that items cost but arrival packages are welcomed and can be covered in the rental fee. Coffee, tea, milk, biscuits on arrival goes a long way! Kitchen roll and another hand soap in the kitchen is a must!

I stayed in this house for one week with my husband, two young girls and parents. It is gorgeous! Spacious, clean, wonderful showers, comfortable beds, lovely large sunny garden and a nice utility to dump all our wet towels after a day at the beach. Five minutes walk and you are at the quayside and lovely quiet location. It was so nice to not be cluttered as well - a few choice "ornaments" and nice lamps but no clutter. The owners even provided a couple of games, kids games, kids books, loads of DVDs and a lovely fluffy floor cushion for the kids to chill on. I would definitely recommend and hope to return. We love Wells and this part of Norfolk. {The drive way is quite narrow and steep and we found it difficult to get up at times but I believe this is being addressed}

Fantastic cottage that''s well located for Wells We stayed here for a week in May. It was beautifully kept, everything was clean and tidy, and all appliances / furniture / equipment was of top quality brands and in excellent condition. We didn't want for anything as all possible things had been provided for us. We loved sitting out in the south facing garden in the sun, listening to the many birds cheeping away. It's very private and quiet. The location is great, it's only a 5 minute walk into Wells which was ideal for us. And of course with Wells itself being central to the North Norfolk Coast, it was a great base for exploring the breadth of it. Overall we had a wonderful stay, and would highly recommend this cottage. Thank you for helping us to have such a lovely break.
