What our customers say about their holidays

We had a great holiday in the cottage.
It is in a very peaceful location, but still close to lots of amenities (petrol station, supermarket etc). The owners Ian and Bethan are friendly and helpful, without being intrusive, and left a lovely welcome basket which we appreciated, as well as milk and butter in the fridge. The cottage is well appointed, tastefully decorated and the beds very comfortable. My two daughters (13 and 8) enjoyed the large Disney DVD collection and I liked the home/antique magazines! The WiFi worked well, but there is no mobile phone reception...not a problem for us as it added to the peaceful ambience, but might be for some. The canal is 10 minutes walk across fields from the cottage, which was nice for an after-dinner stroll. We also visited Chirk Castle and Chirk Aqueduct, both within 20 mins drive from the cottage. The tunnel at Chirk Aqueduct was a particular highlight for the children, but take your torches! N.B. One of the reviews mentioned the rough track leading to the cottage might be a problem for cars with low clearance. It is a bit muddy and wet, but our car had no trouble and it is quite low.

We had a lovely week long stay at the Wynnstead Annexe.
The accommodation was spotless, comfortable and was well equipped with everything we needed for a home from home holiday. The hosts were helpful but left us to enjoy our stay (making sure we knew they were on hand for any queries/issues) and we thought the location was perfect for exploring a part of the country we hadnât visited before. There is a pub within walking distance as well as a nice walk along the canal path. There are several supermarkets in Oswestry which is just a short drive away. During our stay we visited various places - For walking I would highly recommend Oswaldâs Trail, Stiperstones and Llanymynech Rocks (park near the pub DO NOT FOLLOW THE SAT NAV!) and Shrewsbury was a lovely town to visit. We would highly recommend the Wynnstead Annexe if you want a comfortable base to enjoy your holiday in Shropshire.

This is a lovely cottage in a very peaceful location with plenty of 'wildlife' - rabbits, squirrels and (for us) 15 bird species.
Feeding the pheasant and squirrels added to the fun. There are plenty of nature reserves to visit so it was easy to maintain distance from other people. Gobowen (2 miles away) has a good little co-op, a post office and several takeaways. We had plenty of room but tall/large people will need to be aware of the sloping ceilings upstairs. They were not a problem for us (average heights). I noted a comment earlier about the bathroom but we did not find it to be a problem - in fact I thought it was quite spacious. Ian and Beth were ideal 'hosts' - available but not intrusive and Ian was very helpful in disposing of our many cardboard boxes from our medical supplies ("Thank you, Ian"). No EE phone reception but that was nice! Happy to recommend - just please don't book it when we want to go there next time!!

This is a perfect cottage if you like âbeing away from it allâ - its tucked down some pretty country lanes, has zero passing traffic, and the only sound youâll hear in this tranquil location are birds and sheep!
! Itâs also in a great place for walks along the nearby canal. It is comfortable, cosy and generally well-equipped and furnished. The hosts were welcoming and supplied a delightful selection of goodies on arrival. We felt the only disappointment was the bathroom, being somewhat of a squeeze, tucked in under low ceilings, making the shower very difficult to manoeuvre in and the basin almost impossible to use at all. Such a same as the utility room was huge and could easily have accommodated a wc and/or shower. Whilst thereâs mention on the Sykes website of âcottage approached down an unmade trackâ - it is worth noting that this rough, rutted track (whilst only short) would be tricky to negotiate in a vehicle with low clearance. Overall we had a great week and would highly recommend this cottage.

A very well presented property.
Very clean, very comfortable, very well equipped and located in an interesting and picturesque part of the country. Not long after our arrival the owners introduced themselves to us and offered to answer any questions that we had regarding both the accommodation and the general area. As it happens, they had provided just about all of the information we were likely to need within the property. They recommended us to the local village pub "The Queens Head'. We discovered that to be a good choice. Indeed we ate there three evenings and found it to be both friendly and good value for money. We have no hesitation in recommending The Wynnstead Annexe as being an excellent place to stay for a UK break. Clive & Marilyn.
