What our customers say about their holidays
Jean - Verified booking
We had a lovely holiday but a few small problems.
We arrived and parked at the front of the cottage to be told by an angry neighbour that we were not supposed to park there, not a good start to the holiday. There were instructions as to where we should park in the cottage but would have been helpful to have this information before we landed!. We had a problem with the ensuite shower, firstly because it looked broken and we couldn't work out how to use it. We contacted the owner who was very helpful and told us how to turn on the shower. However it was so hot we couldn't stand under it and no way of turning it on to a cooler setting. There is another shower in the main bathroom above the bath but we were 2 separate couples so it was not really convenient for us to use that one. The mattresses are really uncomfortable with springs sticking up in some of them. We all said the same after our 1st night. Some padded mattress covers would make them more comfortable. We had to borrow cushions from the beds to use on the settees as they were very soft and deep and we oldies needed back support. Overall the cottage is very well equipped with everything you need for a self catered holiday. The views across the garden are stunning and the garden is lovely. There are lovely walks all around the area and lots of helpful info as to where to go and where to walk. We recommend The Anchor in Kippford for food. Lovely little coffee shop down at the bottom end of Castle Douglas main street. The Loch at Castle Douglas is very picturesque with a nice circular walk around it.

Amazing! We arrived to a warm welcome from Diane who gave us a tour of the house and explained how things like the heating /hot tub etc work.
There was a yummy plate of fresh cupcakes and a basket of essentials on the counter as well as milk & prosecco in the fridge! The cottage was spotlessly clean, modern and had everything you need to enjoy your stay. There was a games cupboard & a book cupboard both with a wide variety of games & books for all ages. The location is perfect. Remote enough to enjoy the night stars in all their brilliance but close enough to Inverurie for all your shopping needs. Lots of amazing places to visit. Check out Newburgh Beach to see the seal colony, Balmeddie Beach & dunes, Pitmedden Gardens, Haddo house, Tarlair outdoor swimming pool (derelict now but lovely all the same), Drum Castle, Crathes Castle and New Slaines castle. Many of these are part of the National Trust Scotland so it's worth purchasing a membership if you intend to visit more than a couple of their places. Ice cream lovers won't want to miss Barra Berries for the most amazing ice cream. It's less than 10 minutes drive from the cottage so you might want to visit more than once! The highlight for our boys (2 sons with special needs) was definitely the hot tub though! Our youngest was in 2 or 3 times a day. It was well maintained, freshly filled on the day we arrived and Diane checked it daily for chemical balance & cleanliness. It was the touch of luxury we needed after 6 pretty rough months. We can't wait to go back!!

In a lovely rural setting, Nef-Stedi is all it appears to be online, - and more.
A friendly welcome followed by a quick tour of the house to explain a few things from owner Diane and we were left to enjoy ourselves. The accommodation is excellent with comfortable beds and lovely sparkling clean bathrooms with powerful showers and lots of quality towels provided. Pretty much everything we needed was in the kitchen and we enjoyed the experience of the super hot tub - accompanied by a glass of bubbly! A good selection of plastic glasses was provided to use safely around the pool; an example of the care and thought that has gone into equipping this property. Useful utility room with washer and tumble dryer. Lovely area, with plenty of places to visit. Castles, distilleries, beaches and wildlife hot-spots (seals at Newburgh beach and Spey bay for dolphins) all in around an hour's drive through the attractive countryside. Would definitely recommend Nef-Stedi as a base to explore Aberdeenshire and beyond. We had a very enjoyable stay.

Beautiful spacious house ⦠very clean.
Nice welcome from Mairi and thank you for the welcome gifts. Very good location for sight seeing around Lewis and Harris. Our only issues were the lack of blinds in the attic bedroom and (we had to be inventive with black bin bags) and the fridge was making a very strange noise and must need attention. I am sure that Mairi will address the two points I have mentioned. score â¦.9/10. would definitely recommend. LHH Response: We have reported the missing blind issue and the noisy fridge to the owner and she is going to get blinds fitted on the windows at the earliest opportunity. She was unaware of the noisy fridge and will have it seen to shortly. Thankyou for giving the useful feedback and glad you enjoyed yourselves!

Very comfortable home in rural Aberdeenshire with all the facilities you expect - and more besides!
! Spotlessly clean, well equipped with lots of fluffy towels for the bathrooms and the hot tub. Very comfortable beds too. The owner, Diane, greeted us warmly and took us through the house to explain where everything was kept. The welcome basket and freshly baked fairy cakes were a delightful surprise and much appreciated. There was a wealth of information about local attractions and places to visit. The cottage is close to the Castle Trail and there are several whisky distilleries within easy driving distance. The local farm shops and delicatessen stock a good range of locally sourced foods if you want to eat at home but there are several good restaurants nearby too. Canât wait to come back!
