What our customers say about their holidays
Michael - Verified booking
On arrival after a relatively lengthy journey in old cars in poor weather we were most pleasantly surprised by the welcoming feel to the cottage.
Kettle on, and feet up, we found it a relaxing pleasant place to be. The weather was determined to spoil things, but thankfully failed. The only issue from the incessant rain was a leak in the kitchen which appeared to be from the flue housing the hob extractor flue. It was dripping down onto the worktop. We simply put a bowl to catch the drips. It should be noted it was running past the split adaptor for the downlights, so could potentially short out if left wet for long enough. Whilst looking on top of the wall units I noticed that this was the only area of the cottage that wasn't spotlessly clean! The neighbours, Annabel on one side and Patrick on the other, were delightful, charming and most welcoming to us. They were probably the "magic ingredient" that made the holiday so special for us. Lots of information on the village and the region, friendly chit-chat and banter, they were instrumental in our enjoyment of our holiday. The little garden opposite is a delightful little haven of peace. Beautifully kept in a characterful unkempt style by the gardener we did enjoy a few minutes of happy time in there before the rain forced us in again.. I did unfortunately break a tea mug on the concrete. We did replace it with another, as close to the original as possible, but if found unacceptable when checked, please let me know. The inventory in the cottage seemed complete and comprehensive, short of nothing that we could see. The bed upstairs was beautifully comfortable. Downsides? None really. Access in and out of the village could be at times a little tedious, with the over-used narrow lanes requiring frequent back-ups to let oncoming traffic past. I think this might be annoying in July/ August, so we would probably not come then. At one point the ignitor on the gas hob refused to stop clicking, even when all the rings were turned off. On touching it I did receive a low voltage, high amperage shock. We switched it off at the mains, gave it a thorough clean, dried it completely, and on switching it on again, it seemed to be behaving itself. Would we come back? Definitely! I might even work on Gill to come back at the New Year, if the cottage is empty, and reasonably priced! I hope this little note satisfies your requirements, but do please feel free to come back to us if you wish. Michael and Gill Harcourt

We were originally going as a party of 4 with my wife's parents.
Unfortunately they were unable to come due to ill-health of father in law. What a treat they missed the accommodation was massive and we could not have chosen a better location as we were blessed with a good weeks weather and the views were exceptional. Due to the time of year we saw no other residents and ours was the only car. It was really peaceful ! Parking was no problem with ample room for several vehicles (always a premium down in Devon !). There is a single track road to the property which has to be negotiated with care and a sharp turn into the property but you soon get accustomed to it. At the time of our visit the dish-washer was out of action but was professionally dealt with by the letting agents based in Salcombe itself. It was really nice to wake up in the morning to the sound of the waves and the occasional fishing boat on it's way out to sea. The gardens/grounds are quite extensive and would provide another pleasant distraction in the coming summer months as garden chairs/tables are available for use to while away the hours. My tip for successfully navigating the approach road from my experience is to leave/arrive the property outside of the opening times of the NT property next door, i.e. before 10-00am and after closing around 06-00pm when the staff have generally also gone, it avoids the heart-stopping moment when meeting other vehicles on blind-bends. Another useful tip we were given by a local was to turn left once you pass the Winking Prawn café by the beach turning immediately by the public toilets (also on the left-hand side), and follow this road up to the main road for any trips out away from the property. It is a bit of a switch-back ride up the cliffs but a far better road width-wise than negotiating the coast road into Salcombe itself. Much easier on the old nerves!

Absolutely enchanting!
It was our first visit to this part of Devon, it wonât be our last. We loved Noss Mayo. We were totally charmed by Cherry Tree Cottage Itâs just perfect! Beautifully appointed, and well maintained. There were only 2 of us, and we made use of all the space, but can easily see a family of 4 or 2 couples being comfortable here & still having plenty of space. The ground floor master bedroom was lovely & spacious, plenty of storage space, lovely comfy bed, large en-suite bathroom (shower over the bath) with a washer & tumble dryer in the large storage closet off here. Lovely comfortable lounge, a huge selection of DVDs and some family games for guests to use. Well equipped 1st floor kitchen/dining room for self catering. Good sized fridge with small ice box plenty of room for a big shop (added advantage of a second fridge/freezer in the outhouse/shed should you need more room) a hallway with plentiful coat hooks leads to double bedroom 2 and en-suite shower room. The back garden is accessed off this level â¦â¦an explosion of colour with an abundance of hanging baskets/tubs and beautifully well kept flowering plants & shrubs comprises of a small decked area with a shed and a handy rotary drier with steps off taking you up to a loved top decked area that captures the evening sun & has views over to the river. At the front, there is a bench directly in front of the cottage and across the lane to the cottage there is a handy pull in parking space (big enough for a large 4WD) and behind this another wonderfully kept âsecretâ and very private garden outdoor seating. Which gives both sun & partial shade from morning right through till early evening. A truly lovely cottage that you fall in love with at first sight & it doesnât disappoint at all.

We enjoyed a lovely week long stay at Lower Fernlea.
It was a great base to explore Salcombe and the wider area. The property was as advertised and was in a good clean condition when we arrived. We took one large vehicle and it easily parked in the space available. I would think two medium size cars (e.g. Ford Focus) would be a squeeze. The availability of the EV charger will likely be very beneficial to anyone with and EV travelling a long distance or planning to explore a lot. Whilst the upstairs bedrooms are only 2â6â they were manageable for an adult during our stay, although anyone of greater than average height would really struggle for headroom when using the shower in the adjacent bathroom. In comparison the ground floor en-suite was much more suited to somebody taller. We reported a couple of issues at the end of our stay. The broadband went faulty on the final day but there were good mobile signals on the EE and O2 networks in the area so we managed. The timer on the boiler kept stopping, which meant sometimes the boiler may not have come on before we got home or not gone off. In the end we just resorted to manual activation. We wanted the owner to be aware so that this wasnât wasting energy and their money. Overall, this was a good property, well suited to our stay and we would consider it again in the future.

The apartment is very spacious, comfortable and clean, and is the most well equipped holiday home I have ever stayed in.
There is ample parking for two cars and lots of outdoor space to relax and enjoy the scenery. The location and views are stunning but the downside to this is that access is difficult especially in holiday season when there is a lot of traffic around. The surrounding roads are very narrow and steep with numerous hairpin bends and blind corners. Quite obviously this is just a fact of life for cliffside properties, however we did feel that the directions could have been more explicit. "Turn right into Sandside Road, go past the Sands Hotel and you will find the property on the right just after the Overbeck's sign" did not prepare us for two miles of narrow zigzagging roads down past north sands and up past south sands before we even reached the hotel, let alone the property. Eventually we had to stop and phone for clearer directions. Having said all that, once we did actually find Ringrone we were very happy. It is incredibly beautiful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. Just improve the directions!
