What our customers say about their holidays
Mr Lilwall - Verified booking
A charming, beautifully presented property with stylish features and magnificent views over Looe and the ocean. Fully equipped open plan kitchen / diner, cosy lounge, three bedrooms, two bathrooms and an additional downstairs WC, with ample storage. The property is situated on a hill with a car parking space accessed further up the hill in a private car parking area. Visitors can walk down into West Looe following the (steep at points) pathway from the front of the property or via a steep stairway at the back of the property. Traveling further up the hill, past the car parking space, provides access to the beautiful Downs - a great place to walk, especially with your four legged friends. Overall this accommodation is a great base for exploring the stunning coastal pathways. We had a very comfortable stay and loved the decor and views from the property itself. As others have stated in past reviews, the area around this property does require a certain level of fitness, as you will be walking up and down paths and steps a lot! Would recommend!

Good waterfront view, well appointed and very comfortable cottage. There a split levels on the upper floor but these are easily navigable even with my arthritic hip by taking my time. The kitchen/diner threshold has tiny level differences each side and I needed to be extra vigilant taking this route. Having a toilet on each level is always a great plus. The dining room and upstairs bedroom (which we used) are single pane traditional windows and this was obvious with the cold and sound levels noticeably enhanced. We stayed out of season in March and for me the sound levels particularly from the pub seating area outside became quite unacceptable at the weekend so would not like to experience peak holiday times here. Recycling and bin instructions were clear and luckily we found parking across the road most days..

What a lovely barn conversion on a proper working farm run by a lovely family who made us very welcome.
We loved the tour of the farm with Adrian the farmer who shared his love of farming and fantastic knowledge with us and allowed us to get up close to his handsome pedigree blonde Aquitaine cattle. The dogs, chickens, ducks, geese, guinea fowl, calves, cattle, lambs, sheep, pigs, and pigmy goats were all great, so if you like animals you would love this place. The cottage is is in a beautiful area of countryside, really close to Castle Drogo and not far from Dartmoor itself for excellent walking and there are some really good local pubs nearby serving delicious local food. We were delighted to find Jackie's homemade cream tea awaiting us on arrival and also some freshly laid eggs too! The week went much too fast and we would love to go again ... we did have glorious weather which always helps!

We had a lovely holiday at Bowbeer Farm.
The owners and their son were very welcoming and friendly. They also provided us with a good supply of farm eggs and sausages which were great value. The accommodation is very homely. Our teenagers loved the dogs on the farm, all the animals and having a pond to fish in. It was a god send as when we came back from a day out, the fishing gave them something to do that didnât involve tech. Bowbeer Farm is in a beautiful area and fairly central for visiting many places. My ownly useful tip would be some better mattresses on the twin beds. They were very hard and my daughter really struggled to sleep on hers, so ended up on the sofa for several nights. Everything else was perfect though! Thank you so much.

We had a wonderful few days.
We were with our new springer spaniel puppy Nora, and she thoroughly enjoyed being amongst the animals on the farm - the collies who would come to the door of the barn to visit her, the ducks who liked to cross the garden and the cows who came to the fence to say hello. Jackie, Adrian and their son Bradley could not have been more helpful or friendlier, and the tour of the farm they gave us on our last day was one of the highlights of the stay. We'd certainly recommend Bowbeer Farm to anyone looking for an authentic experience of a working farm within a few minutes' drive of Chagford and Castle Drogo, and the great expanse of Dartmoor. Chris & Jill Logan (and Nora).
