What our customers say about their holidays

We visited Skirden View cottage for a home away from home trip with our dog.
We often eye up small cottages that have a modern feel, quiet sites and beautiful views, and this location was just the option we needed. We took full advantage of the hot tub facilities in the good weather, despite there being no covering over the hot tub, it was a beautiful view looking over the fields and the animals past the farm. The amenities and welcome hamper were so well thought out, and most items of household goods in the kitchen/living space were available, especially if you have booked a longer stay. We visited lots of the local pubs, especially the local, The Spread Eagle for a few meals. They were very welcoming, had a great variety of theme nights, good food/drink and dog friendly! If you are looking for somewhere to go for nice walks within a 30 minute drive, Bolton Abbey Ruins and Malham Cove (for any of you Harry Potter fans) were well worth the tough walks - make sure to bring walking boots! We would definitely look to come back to this location again, and thank the hosts for an amazing stay. Thank you!

This is the third time we have stayed at the premises, the father in law booked the previous visits, and every time the place is spotless and well kept.
Minimal damage wear and tear over the years. The paintwork is still clean and fresh, as is the tilings and fixtures in the bathrooms. No mold or mildew or stained grout anywhere! Clean and crisp. The facilities are excellent. The host is lovely and helpful, Fresh eggs on site, lovely bits upon welcome( tea, coffee, sugar, cookies, washing up liquid, dishwasher tabs, scourers etc) , the kitchen is well stocked with enough cutlery and crockery and utensils for 8 people for a functionable holiday let property not a professionals chefs suite. People complaining about not having a colander or grater are being picky. The fridge freezer is a very decent size and the bonus of a washing machine helps! Great tv and WiFi. Depending on the proximity of where youâre sleeping, and how much of a deep sleeper you are, you may be woken by the cockerel in the morning. Take ear plugs if your a light delicate sleeper. The bedding and towels are clean and crisp. Overall excellent property in an excellent location and we will be returning in the future.

Perfect cottage for two people.
We couldn't think of anything that could have made it better. Pat and Brian are lovely considerate hosts. When it was really hot and none of the seating for the cottage had any shade, Brian brought round an umbrella and camping chairs so we could sit outside comfortably. The cottage stayed cool during the hot spell and the big fridge/freezer meant we had plenty of room to keep food and drink cold. Pat's jam was lovely and the eggs from the hens were delicious. We enjoyed every moment of our stay at the cottage, including the visit from the cheeky hen, and watching the hedgehog at dusk. The village is a great location for walking and for visiting numerous nearby National Trust properties. We also had a great day out on the steam railway from Toddington. Yes, you need a car make the most of the area, but you don't need to venture far to find plenty to do.

Absolutely fabulous property, without doubt one of the best we have stayed at.
Clearly a lot of thought has been put in by the owners to ensure the comfort of their guests. Fixtures and fittings were outstanding throughout with top quality on display in every room. The little extras such as the extensive welcome pack, fresh flowers and fluffy bathrobes and slippers provided that touch of luxury which was really appreciated. The views from the ceiling to floor doors were amazing constantly changing with the weather. Hot tub was the icing on the cake and a great way to relax at the end of the day. Cottage is in a fantastic, peaceful location but makes a great base with loads of brilliant visitor attractions within half an hourâs drive. Overall we had a tremendous weekâs holiday at Skirden View and would have no hesitation coming back - very highly recommended.

We spent a week at Porthole Cottage which is the perfect base to explore Whitby and the surrounding Yorkshire coast and moors. The cottage is very well equipped especially the kitchen which has everything you could need if you choose to cater for yourself but equally the cottage is within short walking distance of lots of fabulous restaurants, cafes and pubs if you prefer to eat out. The location is perfect for exploring Whitby as it is very centrally located. It is situated in Clark's yard but it is quiet despite being just off Church Street which with lots of sea air and comfy beds ensures you get an excellent night's sleep. We hope to return to Porthole Cottage and would highly recommend booking a stay here.
