What our customers say about their holidays

The cottage is detached along a private track, about 100 metres off the main road between Tintagel and Boscastle.
There is little road noise. It is in a very attractive position at the head of St Nectanâs Glen; the start of a beautiful walk to the waterfall. Almost directly across the road is the footpath to Rocky Valley, a wonderful walk that opens out after one kilometre onto the sea and coastal footpath. Although it is possible to use footpaths to walk into Tintagel, we chose to travel in by car. Tintagel is about one mile away, while Boscastle is no more than about 3 miles. Even in early June, carparks were very busy but not full. The cottage is in a ideal place to visit this part of the Cornish coast. The coastal path is close. Padstow (45 minutes) and Port Isaac ( 30 minutes) are nearby and we were lucky enough to catch one of the free Friday night performances by Fishermansâ Friends on the beach at Port Isaac, We were received warmly by Mr Evans who resides in a neighbouring house. He gave us a useful introduction to the cottage and immediate surroundings. The weather unfortunately was very cool and wet for the time of year and we made use of the wood burning stove (3 day supply of wood) to supplement the radiators. It is a compact, clean, comfortable cottage and fine for two people. It has a good range of cooking facilities, proficient WiFi and TV, hot water in abundance, shower and bath. The bedroom however has low headroom and is cramped. It would be a particular challenge for anyone tall or with mobility issues. There is limited storage upstairs and it is supplemented by a wardrobe downstairs. Parking is adjacent to the cottage; a big bonus after some other cottages we have rented. We thoroughly enjoyed our one week in the cottage. The British weather tested the cottage (and ourselves), but it responded to the challenge with flying colours.

We had a lovely week staying at Holemire Barn.
It was very peaceful looking out from the lounge watching the birds and the red squirrels feeding. The owner is lovely and was a great help in supplying us with local knowledge. We have visited the Lakes many times but this was our first stay in the Lorton Vale area. Only two downsides, firstly there is no onsite parking. The description "offroad" parking is inaccurate, as parking is actually on the road, on a slip road area at a T junction opposite the cottage, (it is not a layby, see it on street view). This should be amended in the Sykes Cottages description. Secondly, whilst there is a bench to sit on outside the front door, there is no private outside seating. However, these were minor issues which did not detract from a lovely stay. We would certainly consider going back.

The little cottage is well equipped and a great base for travelling around Cornwall.
The hosts are great, and there are little touches such as a cream tea, wine and flowers. There are great views at the rear of the property and we enjoyed sitting out, having breakfast as it's very peaceful. The Lodge is decorated to a high standard with a nice bathroom and good shower. There wasn't a lot of places to eat in April as lock down restrictions were gradually lifting. Most nights, we had a takeaway or cooked a meal. The kitchen again is well equipped for this however, we couldn't work out how to use the microwave. Cornwall is a truely beautiful part of the country and highlights were the characterful fishing villages such as Polperro, Padstow and Magavissey. We will definitely be coming back and would recommend this place as a great little hideaway.

Good location for the places we wanted to visit and quiet.
On arrived, the Coach House appeared satisfactory and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. The bathroom was clean and acceptable. The kitchen looked clean and was usable but it was equipped an array of old, mis-matching of trays, cutlery and utensils. Although the walls in the lounge area were clean and bright, the furniture needs updating. The whole ambience of the room was spoiled by a rather old, grubby rug/runner? in front of the fireplace. The mezzanine had an assortment of âfurnitureâ. The mattress was comfortable but the duvet/bedding needs replacing. There was an overall smell of damp in the cottage.

Coachman was exactly as advertised.
It is a lovely little cottage in a beautiful location, plenty of walks from the cottage and easily accessible by car or bus to local villages and towns. The property itself had most things we needed for a week away, minus washing facilities. The host was welcoming and provided all the help we needed. The property was a bit damp, which for someone with asthma was a bit difficult, but there was a log burner and heater which definitely helped to manage this. Headroom in the bedroom was limited, as advertised, but you get used to is quickly! It's a lovely place to stay and we really enjoyed our time there.
