What our customers say about their holidays

Positives - the property is excellent value, spacious and mostly well equipped.
It was clean and tidy and better equipped than many other properties I have stayed in. The wifi worked well. The garden is private, well kept, and ideal for eating outside. The owner Mr Hughes, is very friendly and approachable. The previous occupants didnât leave when they should have and were uncontactable for several hours, but Mr Hughes went out of his way to keep me up to date with what was happening, and ensure that the property was still ready to move in that day. We finally got in just 5 hours later than planned, and Mr Hughes had left us extra goodies for the inconvenience. Yummy! Negatives with the listing description: Although it says âelevated positionâ It doesnât make it clear just how elevated! I didnât know til I got there that it is such a steep incline that I could neither walk into town, nor use my mobility scooter. It was just too steep. So we had to drive even if I just needed a loaf of bread. It also states that you can see the action at zip world, but even If I used my binoculars, I could only just see a tiny portion of the zip wires, and even then I couldnât be sure that was what I was looking at. The description says it is a 5 minute walk to Zip World. Not true. Even maps shows it as 15 minutes and that doesnât take the steep hill into consideration. We didnât go there anyway, but from these two comments I assumed I would be able to watch. Negatives with the property. The tv in the downstairs single bedroom didnât work, but we never got round to saying anything. Iâm sure if we had it would have been sorted straight away. The ensuite in the downstairs double was always damp - even when I got suspicious and thoroughly dried the floor before going to bed it was wet again the next day. There was a massive amount of drinking glasses in the kitchen, but not really enough plates, dishes and teaspoons. We had to keep washing up during the day, and there were no instructions for the main tv/dvd player. After several near falls and 1 fall down the step from the hall to the dining area, we ended up moving an armchair in front of the doorway to remind us to pause!. A handle on the wall, and a yellow strip on the floor may have been helpful there. These were all small property issues that didnât really affect our enjoyment of the stay though. I would stay there again.

This is a beautiful and well-equipped small mill worker's cottage very close to the centre of Low Bentham, which offered a real home from home experience over the past weekend.
The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard, yet retains its cosy feel. The kitchen is small but very well-equipped and offered the opportunity to cook a decent roast dinner and enjoy it around the small dining table with a view out to the beautiful and very well-kept garden. The living room can easily accommodate 3 people and the log burner created a lovely cosy and relaxing feel too. The smart TV offers lots of viewing options and the broadband speed was very good - so easy to stay connected when necessary. The views over the rooftops across to the distance hills were lovely and all in all it felt a very calm and relaxing setting. The village of Low Bentham is lovely and has some easy, but enjoyable walks around it. High Bentham is larger and has lots of shops and even a bank, so no need to keep popping to Ingleton for supplies. The village pub is at the bottom of the hill from the cottage and had a nice atmosphere and a good selection of drinks. Other guests said the food was good, but I can't agree/disagree - didn't eat there. Getting around is easy and there are plenty of places to visit nearby (Clapham, Austwick, Malham, Ingleton, White Scar Caves, Ribblehead), so it's a good base for a touring break. The only minor issue was a lack of parking outside the cottage - the only options were on street or in the village public car park (approx 100 yards away), but once we got used to it it really was a very minor issue. A return visit is definitely on the cards!! Highly recommended.

Lovely cottage in a friendly village.
Central for exploring this beautiful area. Comfy, well equipped and nicely decorated and furnished. Safe enclosed garden for the dog and a riverside walk from the doorstep. Shame there wasn't a welcome pack, not even a pint of milk, just a couple of teabag and coffee sachets. ( maybe I've been lucky in previous cottages with lots of treats for me and the dog! ) Sadly, my stay was spoilt due to the noise from the renovations at the cottage next door. I know this is out of the owner's control, and it was only a couple of days and one evening until 8pm but it wasn't the relaxing holiday I was hoping for. Note to Skyes (as this is not the first time) please say on the description if dogs are not allowed upstairs. I wouldn't have booked if I'd known. I'm also reluctant to book anymore attached properties as this is also not the first time this has happened to me! I had a lovely holiday though as the area is stunning and the cottage is lovely.

The cottage is decorated beautifully and kept very clean.
The garden is great as it is enclosed so we didn't need to worry about the dog wandering off. Bed and sofa are comfortable. Bathroom is modern and shower is a good temperature and pressure. Kitchen extremely well equipped and includes lots of thoughtful extras (which I had entirely forgot to pack) eg cling film, sandwich bags, tin foil and ice packs so we could take a packed lunch everyday. We didn't use the dishwasher as was only two of us and seemed easier to wash up, but microwave and oven are easy to use. There was also dog bowls and poo bags, again a lovely touch, but had packed my own. We did struggle to park on the first day but that's just one of those things. Location was pretty good, short walk or super quick drive to High Bentham for all amenities. Spoke to one of the neighbours one day, and he was extremely pleasant and helpful.

Fantastic property of high quality throughout. Having access to the Marrington Estate grounds was amazing as you felt that you were in a magical world all of your own and the different walking routes meant that you could do lots of different circuits of varying lengths. Then back to the lovely property for a dip in the hot tub. One of our sons brought their dog and the garden was very secure and the entrance room was a perfect place for their crate with stone floors. This area was also great for coming in with muddy boots and wet coats and leaving them there out of the way. Already looking at when we can go again.
