What our customers say about their holidays
Niall - Verified booking
Where to start, based on previous reviews for this property i am surprised to be leaving this feedback.
It does appear that most of the issues experienced are probably outwith the owners direct control and most likely lie with 3rd party contractors (cleaners, hot tub maintenance & holiday park), however all issues stated below did affect out experience and the lack of communication and feedback from either the owner or Sykes has frankly been shocking. Firstly the overall cleanliness was very poor. The Hot tub water did not look like it had been changed since the previous guests, dishes were dirty, there was dust and cobwebs in a number of places and the bedsheets were already covered in dog hair on arrival. Its seems the only housekeeping that had been done since the previous guest was to replace the bedsheets and towels. On Friday the hot tub was accidentally drained by the hot tub maintenance company and left like this until 3pm. This ruined the one day of the week we had intended to spend at the caravan all day. To top this off it also became apparent that there was no water, not even one drop. On speaking to people from the park we were informed this is common on a change over day (so Friday and Monday) as water is supplied from a bore hole and due to the number of hot tubs on site there is not enough water to go around. As such we were forced to go out for the day. However what makes this worse was the lack of feedback and communication from either the owner of Skyes, it was impossible to get hold of either. After a number of hours trying to get hold of someone to sort this issue either by phone, messages or email i gave up and went out. Upon return at 3pm the owner was filling the hot tub again. The owner did state that would reimburse us for that days stay and an email would follow, no email has since been recieved. Sykes did eventually get in contact via phone 30 hours afterwards and compensation was discussed, however again no further feedback has since been recieved and no compensation given. The "restaurant" on site is extremely poor. If your lucky you will get a drink (after a 30 minute wait) but expect the food to be limited to a burger and chips only. The restaurant was also extremely filthy and staff miserable. I would say that the over all location is reasonable and the caravan does have a good range of facilities. These is sky, a smart TV and a number of other usefully items. The owners did leave a nice welcome pack with prosecco and some goodies which was nice. Its just unfortunate that everything else did not reflect the same high standard else this review would have been very different. I would not recommended ever booking through Skyes as they are impossible to get hold of. I would recommended avoiding this park if you plan on staying over change over days as you will have no water all day with no prior warning!

First the positives: The bed in this lodge is the best quality holiday bed I have ever slept in.
So comfy and bed linin fresh and good quality fabrics. kitchen spacious and everything you will need utensils wise Cinema room as described and good to sit and watch films in. Food at the restaurant was lovely and staff friendly. Lovely area to be in and easy to get about to visit different places, coming back to a lovely setting. Unfortunately a few negatives to this property: The decked patio area and table and chairs were very dirty and the flooring and glass clearly hadn't been cleaned for a long time. The furniture is clearly old and weathered and needs replacing. The sofa in the living room area is VERY squishy so if you have a bad back or have trouble getting out of a seated position this is not the sofa for you. We too - as mentioned a number of times previously, did not get bath robes. I felt too there should have been a 2nd set of towels for the hot tub and sauna, but these were not supplied. In fairness to the team we didn't report this and I am sure if we did we would have been sent some, but that misses the point. Also the towels supplied were very thin and ripped, again in need of replacing due to age. Not luxury as advertised. The design of the window in the hot tub area means you can not have the window open and be private, so it got very hot and unpleasant when using the hot tub, if we were to return we would book an outside hot tub in future. We had assumed we would be able to watch DVDs - so just be aware that is not the case, and as mentioned again in other reviews the Living room TV /or/ remote is not functioning properly, so the TV is very very slow to change channels etc if it worked at all.

Bad points: The kitchen cupboards and freezer were all dirty with either dust or liquid marks.
The kitchen floor wasnât cleaned in the grooves of the cupboards meaning we had to vacuum when we arrived and what seemed to be a coffee drip mark was left on the floor. The place mats were reversible one side was cleaned the other covered in left over food. The kitchen sides although not visible Needed wiped as there was left over liquid /food upon feeling. The microwave has a line of dried food at the back. No one on site when we arrived as it was Sunday so sorted this ourselves. Funny times for the bar and reception to open not at all on Sunday and from 5 on a Wednesday not practical if you arrive on a Sunday with any issues. The bed and sofa have served their time to the extent they both dip in the middle and should really be replaced. Small matter of a previous stain not removed on bedroom floor carpet and a sweet wrapper being left in the cinema room. The good bits: Lovely location. So remote you donât get phone signal but full Wi-Fi if you want to stay in touch with the world. Your not over looked. Sauna, shower and jacuzzi bath all amazing and relaxing. Come in a room lights were perfect. Good from the restaurant was very nice. Staff when there were friendly. Other than the kitchen and the sweet wrapper the lodge was clean. Very spacious and relaxing. Has a vacuum and a sponge for you to clean if itâs left unclean. Lovely location and lodge just a shame the cleanliness let it down and there was no one available to speak with as the reception has strange hours.

Spotlessly clean and very cosy and welcoming.
Love the touches like the pretty cushions and pictures on the wall. Everything there you would need for a lovely break. Location is fabulous for getting out and about too. We took our dog with us too, and it worked well for us. With it being end of October we took clothes etc for all weather, and that is the one thing that would have been tricky if we had got soaked in terms of where to hang things to dry off. We definately will go again. It does say sleeps 4 (pull out sofa bed) but I would say you wouldn't want 4 adults, but would work if two were youngish children or younger teens, as I think they would love the novelty of the Pod. Which, to be honest, was why I picked it too, being a bit of a kid at heart. Our first holiday taking our rescue dog, not sure how she would settle, but she loved exploring when we walked her round the site. If we had been staying longer and weather had been better, we would have used the footpath at the back of the site to walk to Hornsea and the beach

Excellent experience, Iâve not stopped in a pod before.
Decor is minimalist to sophistication, the structural design is well thought to assist guests. A choice of light with glass frontage, makes possible to enjoy the view either from within or preferably to sit out. â there is also seating area to each pod outsideâ If required blinds and curtain to close for privacy. There are a few steps to the property, yet inside is one level ,if you struggle with disabilities â maybe a rampâ . The owners have done a marvellous job by maintaining and organising this place. I was particularly impressed with âonly chemical freeâ products are used for cleaning. There were other guests stopping in caravanâs, motor homes and tents. Although a busy time, the volume was low. Hence a peaceful nice atmosphere. White rose caters for all ages , families thus couples or single persons. Julie
